2 Chronik 1

1 Salomo, Davids Sohn, aber befestigte sein Königtum. Der Herr, sein Gott, war mit ihm und machte ihn überaus groß.

And Solomon, son of David, strengthened himself over his kingdom, —and, Yahweh, his God, was with him, and made him surpassingly great.

2 Und Salomo sprach zu ganz Israel, zu den Anführern der Tausend- und Hundertschaften, den Richtern und allen Fürsten in ganz Israel, den Familienhäuptern.

And Solomon gave word to all Israel—to the rulers of thousands, and hundreds, and to the judges, and to all the leaders of all Israel, ancestral chiefs;

3 Und so zogen Salomo und die ganze Gemeinde mit ihm nach der Höhe von Gibeon. Denn dort war Gottes Festgezelt, das Moses, des Herrn Diener, in der Wüste gemacht hatte.

and Solomon, and all the convocation with him, went to the high place that was in Gibeon, —for, there, was the tent of meeting of God, which Moses the servant of Yahweh made in the desert.

4 Die Gotteslade aber hatte David aus Kirjat Jearim heraufgebracht, weil David für sie sorgen wollte. Denn er schlug für sie ein Zelt in Jerusalem auf.

Howbeit, the ark of God, had David brought up from Kiriath-jearim, into the place that David had prepared for it, —for he had pitched for it a tent, in Jerusalem.

5 Auch der eherne Altar, den Besalel, Uris Sohn und Enkel Churs, gemacht, war vor des Herrn Wohnung. Und Salomo und die Gemeinde suchten ihn auf.

Also, the altar of bronze that Bezalel son of Uri son of Hur had made, was there before the habitation of Yahweh, —so Solomon and the convocation sought it.

6 Dann stieg Salomo dort vor dem Herrn zum ehernen Altar beim Festgezelt hinauf und brachte ihm tausend Brandopfer dar.

And Solomon went up thither, unto the altar of bronze before Yahweh, which belonged to the tent of meeting, —and caused to go up thereon a thousand ascending-sacrifices.

7 In jener Nacht aber erschien Gott dem Salomo und sprach zu ihm: "Erbitte das, was ich dir geben soll!"

During that night, God appeared unto Solomon, —and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.

8 Da sprach Salomo zu Gott: "Große Huld hast Du meinem Vater David erwiesen und mich an seiner Statt zum König gemacht.

And Solomon said unto God, Thou thyself, didst deal with David my father in great lovingkindness, —and hast made me king in his stead.

9 Jetzt nun bewähre sich, Herr, Gott, Dein Wort an meinem Vater David! Denn Du hast mich zum König eines Volks gemacht, so zahlreich wie der Erde Staub.

Now, O Yahweh Elohim, let thy word with David my father be brought to pass, -for, thou, hast made me king over a people, for multitude like the dust of the earth.

10 So gib mir Weisheit auch und Einsicht, vor diesem Volke aus- und einzuziehen Denn wer vermöchte dies Dein großes Volk zu richten?"

Now, wisdom and knowledge, give thou unto me, that I may go out before this people, and may come in, —for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?

11 Da sprach Gott zu Salomo: "Weil du solches im Sinne hast und nicht um Reichtum, Schätze und Ruhm gefleht, noch um das Leben deiner Hasser, auch nicht um langes Leben, vielmehr dir Weisheit und Erkenntnis erfleht hast, um so mein Volk zu richten, über das ich zum König dich gemacht,

And God said unto Solomon, Because this was near thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, or the life of them that hate thee, nor even, many days, hast thou asked, —but hast asked for thyself, wisdom and knowledge, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king,

12 so sei dir diese Weisheit und Erkenntnis auch geschenkt! Doch auch Reichtum, Schätze, Ruhm verleihe ich dir, dergleichen nie die Könige vor dir besessen, noch nach dir haben werden."

wisdom and knowledge, are granted unto thee, —moreover, riches and wealth and honour, will I give thee, such as the kings who were before thee did not possess, neither shall they who come after thee possess the like.

13 Salomo kam nun von der Höhe zu Gibeon nach Jerusalem vor das Bundeszelt und herrschte über Israel.

And Solomon came from the high place that was in Gibeon unto Jerusalem, from before the tent of meeting, —and reigned over Israel.

14 Und Salomo brachte Wagen und Reiter zusammen, und zwar besaß er 14.000 Wagen und 12.000 Reiter. Er legte sie in die Wagenstädte und in des Königs Umgebung nach Jerusalem.

And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen, and came to have a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, —and he settled them in chariot cities, and with the king, in Jerusalem.

15 Und der König machte zu Jerusalem Silber und Gold den Steinen gleich, und die Zedern machte er gleich den Maulbeerbäumen in der Niederung.

And the king made silver and gold in Jerusalem, like stones, and, cedars, made he like the sycomores that are in the lowland, for abundance.

16 Und die Ausfuhr der Rosse für Salomo erfolgte aus Ägypten und aus Kue. Die Händler des Königs holten sie aus Kue gegen Bezahlung.

And the horses which Solomon had were, an export, out of Egypt, —and a, company of royal merchants, used to fetch a drove, at a price;

17 Aus Ägypten holten sie einen Wagen um sechshundert Silberlinge und ein Roß um hundertfünfzig. Ebenso führten sie an alle chittitischen und aramäischen Könige durch ihre Vermittlung aus.

and they built and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot, for six hundred [shekels] of silver, and a horse, for a hundred and fifty, -and, so, for all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Syria, by their means, brought they them forth.
