2 Chronik 12

1 Als aber Rechabeams Königtum fest war und er zu Macht kam, verließ er des Herrn Gesetz, und ganz Israel mit ihm.

And it came to pass, when Rehobo'am had established the kingdom, and when he had become strong, that he forsook the law of the Lord, and all Israel with him.

2 So zog denn im fünften Regierungsjahr Rechabeams Sisak, der König von Ägypten, gegen Jerusalem, weil sie dem Herrn untreu geworden waren,

And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehobo'am, that Shishak the king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, —because they had acted faithlessly against the Lord, —

3 mit 1.200 Wagen und 60.000 Reitern. Zahllos war das Volk, das mit ihm aus Ägypten zog: Libyer, Troglodyten und Äthiopier.

With twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand horsemen: and innumerable were the people that came with him out of Egypt—the Lubim, the Sukkiyim, and the Ethiopians.

4 Und er eroberte Judas Festungen und kam bis Jerusalem.

And he captured the fortified cities which pertained to Judah, and he came as far as Jerusalem.

5 Da kam der Prophet Semaja zu Rechabeam und Judas Fürsten, die sich vor Sisak nach Jerusalem geflüchtet hatten, und sprach zu ihnen: "So spricht der Herr: 'Mich habt ihr verlassen. So überlasse ich auch euch der Hand des Sisak.'"

And Shem'ayah the prophet came to Rehobo'am, and the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus hath said the Lord, Ye have indeed forsaken me, and therefore have I also relinquished you into the hand of Shishak.

6 Da demütigten sich Judas Fürsten mit dem König und sprachen: "Der Herr ist gerecht."

Thereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The Lord is righteous.

7 Als der Herr sah, daß sie sich verdemütigt hatten, erging des Herrn Wort an Semaja: "Sie haben sich gedemütigt. So will auch ich sie nicht vernichten. Ich gönne ihnen nun ein wenig Heil: Mein Grimm ergießt sich nimmermehr durch Sisak auf Jerusalem.

And when the Lord saw that they had humbled themselves, then came the word of the Lord to Shem'ayah, saying, “They have humbled themselves: I will not destroy them; but I will permit some little to escape from them; and my wrath shall not be poured out over Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.”

8 Doch sollen sie ihm dienstbar werden, daß sie kennenlernen meinen Dienst und den der Königreiche anderer Länder."

However they shall be servants unto him, and they shall know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the [various] countries.

9 So rückte Ägyptens König Sisak gegen Jerusalem und nahm die Schätze im Hause des Herrn und die Schätze des Königshauses. Alles nahm er mit. Er nahm auch die goldenen Schilde, die Salomo gemacht hatte.

And so came up Shishak the king of Egypt against Jerusalem, and he took away the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king's house: every thing did he take away; and he took away the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

10 König Rechabeam machte an ihrer Statt eherne Schilde und gab sie in die Obhut der Obersten der Läufer, die den Eingang des Königshauses bewachten.

And king Rehobo'am made in their stead shields of copper, and committed them for keeping into the hand of the chiefs of the runners, who kept guard at the door of the king's house.

11 Sooft der König ins Haus des Herrn ging, kamen die Läufer und trugen sie. Dann brachten sie sie ins Gemach der Läufer zurück.

And it happened whenever the king went into the house of the Lord, that the runners came and bore them, and carried them back into the apartment of the runners.

12 Weil er sich verdemütigte, ließ der Zorn des Herrn von ihm und vertilgte ihn nicht. Auch an Juda war manches Gute.

And when he had humbled himself, the wrath of the Lord turned from him, so that he destroyed him not to make an end [of him]: and also in Judah were some good things [found].

13 König Rechabeam befestigte sich wieder in Jerusalem und regierte weiter. Denn Rechabeam war einundvierzig Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und regierte siebzehn Jahre zu Jerusalem, in der Stadt, die der Herr aus allen Stämmen Israels wählte, seinen Namen hier einzusetzen. Seine Mutter hieß Naama und war eine Ammoniterin.

And king Rehobo'am strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned; for Rehobo'am was one and forty years old when he became king, and seventeen years did he reign in Jerusalem, the city which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother's name was Na'amah the 'Ammonitess.

14 Er tat das Böse. Denn er richtete sein Herz nicht darauf, den Herrn zu suchen.

And he did the evil; because he directed not his heart to seek the Lord.

15 Ist nicht Rechabeams Geschichte, die frühere und spätere, in der Geschichte des Propheten Semaja und des Sehers Iddo aufgezeichnet? Die Kämpfe Rechabeams und Jeroboams währten die ganze Zeit.

And the acts of Rehobo'am, the first and the last, behold, they are written in the history of Shem'ayah the prophet, and of 'Iddo, the seer concerning the genealogies. And the wars of Rehobo'am and Jerobo'am [lasted] all the days.

16 Als sich Rechabeam zu seinen Vätern legte, ward er in der Davidsstadt begraben, und sein Sohn Abia ward an seiner Statt König.

And Rehobo'am slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abiyah his son became king in his stead.
