Lukas 3
1 Aber im fünfzehnten Jahre der Regierung des Kaisers Tiberius, als Pontius Pilatus Landpfleger von Judäa war, und Herodes Vierfürst von Galiläa, und sein Bruder Philippus Vierfürst von Ituräa und der Landschaft Trachonitis, und Lysanias Vierfürst von Abilene,
Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,
2 unter dem Hohenpriestertum von Annas und Kajaphas, geschah das Wort Gottes zu Johannes, dem Sohne Zacharias', in der Wüste.
in the high-priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.
3 Und er kam in die ganze Umgegend des Jordan und predigte die Taufe der Buße zur Vergebung der Sünden;
And he came into all the region round about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance unto remission of sins;
4 wie geschrieben steht im Buche der Worte Jesaias', des Propheten: “Stimme eines Rufenden in der Wüste: Bereitet den Weg des Herrn, machet gerade seine Steige!
as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make ye ready the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight.
5 Jedes Tal wird ausgefüllt und jeder Berg und Hügel erniedrigt werden, und das Krumme wird zum geraden Wege und die höckerichten zu ebenen Wegen werden;
Every valley shall be filled, And every mountain and hill shall be brought low; And the crooked shall become straight, And the rough ways smooth;
6 und alles Fleisch wird das Heil Gottes sehen”.
And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
7 Er sprach nun zu den Volksmengen, die hinausgingen, um von ihm getauft zu werden: Otternbrut! Wer hat euch gewiesen, dem kommenden Zorn zu entfliehen?
He said therefore to the multitudes that went out to be baptized of him, Ye offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 Bringet nun der Buße würdige Früchte; und beginnet nicht, bei euch selbst zu sagen: Wir haben Abraham zum Vater; denn ich sage euch, daß Gott dem Abraham aus diesen Steinen Kinder zu erwecken vermag.
Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
9 Schon ist aber auch die Axt an die Wurzel der Bäume gelegt; jeder Baum nun, der nicht gute Frucht bringt, wird abgehauen und ins Feuer geworfen.
And even now is the axe also laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
10 Und die Volksmengen fragten ihn und sprachen: Was sollen wir denn tun?
And the multitudes asked him, saying, What then must we do?
11 Er aber antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Wer zwei Leibröcke hat, teile dem mit, der keinen hat; und wer Speise hat, tue gleicherweise.
And he answered and said unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath food, let him do likewise.
12 Es kamen aber auch Zöllner, um getauft zu werden; und sie sprachen zu ihm: Lehrer, was sollen wir tun?
And there came also publicans to be baptized, and they said unto him, Master, what must we do?
13 Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Fordert nicht mehr, als euch bestimmt ist.
And he said unto them, Extort no more than that which is appointed you.
14 Es fragten ihn aber auch Kriegsleute und sprachen: Und wir, was sollen wir tun? Und er sprach zu ihnen: Tut niemand Gewalt, und klaget niemand fälschlich an, und begnüget euch mit eurem Solde.
And soldiers also asked him, saying, And we, what must we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither exact [anything] wrongfully; and be content with your wages.
15 Als aber das Volk in Erwartung war, und alle in ihren Herzen wegen Johannes überlegten, ob er nicht etwa der Christus sei,
And as the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether haply he were the Christ;
16 antwortete Johannes allen und sprach: Ich zwar taufe euch mit Wasser; es kommt aber, der stärker ist als ich, dessen ich nicht würdig bin, ihm den Riemen seiner Sandalen zu lösen; er wird euch mit Heiligem Geiste und Feuer taufen;
John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but there cometh he that is mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and [with] fire:
17 dessen Worfschaufel in seiner Hand ist, und er wird seine Tenne durch und durch reinigen und den Weizen in seine Scheune sammeln; die Spreu aber wird er verbrennen mit unauslöschlichem Feuer.
whose fan is in his hand, throughly to cleanse his threshing-floor, and to gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.
18 Indem er nun auch mit vielem anderen ermahnte, verkündigte er dem Volke gute Botschaft.
With many other exhortations therefore preached he good tidings unto the people;
19 Herodes aber, der Vierfürst, weil er wegen der Herodias, des Weibes seines Bruders, und wegen alles Bösen, das Herodes getan hatte, von ihm gestraft wurde,
but Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother’s wife, and for all the evil things which Herod had done,
20 fügte allem auch dies hinzu, daß er Johannes ins Gefängnis einschloß.
added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.
21 Es geschah aber, als das ganze Volk getauft wurde, und Jesus getauft war und betete, daß der Himmel aufgetan wurde,
Now it came to pass, when all the people were baptized, that, Jesus also having been baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
22 und der Heilige Geist in leiblicher Gestalt, wie eine Taube, auf ihn herabstieg, und eine Stimme aus dem Himmel kam: Du bist mein geliebter Sohn, an dir habe ich Wohlgefallen gefunden.
and the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily form, as a dove, upon him, and a voice came out of heaven, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
23 Und er selbst, Jesus, begann ungefähr dreißig Jahre alt zu werden, und war, wie man meinte, ein Sohn des Joseph, des Eli,
And Jesus himself, when he began [to teach], was about thirty years of age, being the son (as was supposed) of Joseph, the [son] of Heli,
24 des Matthat, des Levi, des Melchi, des Janna, des Joseph,
the [son] of Matthat, the [son] of Levi, the [son] of Melchi, the [son] of Jannai, the [son] of Joseph,
25 des Mattathias, des Amos, des Nahum, des Esli, des Naggai,
the [son] of Mattathias, the [son] of Amos, the [son] of Nahum, the [son] of Esli, the [son] of Naggai,
26 des Maath, des Mattathias, des Semei, des Joseph, des Juda,
the [son] of Maath, the [son] of Mattathias, the [son] of Semein, the [son] of Josech, the [son] of Joda,
27 des Johanna, des Resa, des Zorobabel, des Salathiel, des Neri,
the [son] of Joanan, the [son] of Rhesa, the [son] of Zerubbabel, the [son] of Shealtiel, the [son] of Neri,
28 des Melchi, des Addi, des Kosam, des Elmodam, des Er,
the [son] of Melchi, the [son] of Addi, the [son] of Cosam, the [son] of Elmadam, the [son] of Er,
29 des Joses, des Elieser, des Jorim, des Matthat, des Levi,
the [son] of Jesus, the [son] of Eliezer, the [son] of Jorim, the [son] of Matthat, the [son] of Levi,
30 des Simeon, des Juda, des Joseph, des Jonan, des Eliakim,
the [son] of Symeon, the [son] of Judas, the [son] of Joseph, the [son] of Jonam, the [son] of Eliakim,
31 des Melea, des Menna, des Mattatha, des Nathan, des David,
the [son] of Melea, the [son] of Menna, the [son] of Mattatha, the [son] of Nathan, the [son] of David,
32 des Isai, des Obed, des Boas, des Salmon, des Nahasson,
the [son] of Jesse, the [son] of Obed, the [son] of Boaz, the [son] of Salmon, the [son] of Nahshon,
33 des Aminadab, des Aram, des Esrom, des Phares, des Juda,
the [son] of Amminadab, the [son] of Arni, the [son] of Hezron, the [son] of Perez, the [son] of Judah,
34 des Jakob, des Isaak, des Abraham, des Thara, des Nachor,
the [son] of Jacob, the [son] of Isaac, the [son] of Abraham, the [son] of Terah, the [son] of Nahor,
35 des Seruch, des Rhagau, des Phalek, des Eber, des Sala,
the [son] of Serug, the [son] of Reu, the [son] of Peleg, the [son] of Eber, the [son] of Shelah,
36 des Kainan, des Arphaxad, des Sem, des Noah, des Lamech,
the [son] of Cainan, the [son] of Arphaxad, the [son] of Shem, the [son] of Noah, the [son] of Lamech,
37 des Methusala, des Enoch, des Jared, des Maleleel, des Kainan,
the [son] of Methuselah, the [son] of Enoch, the [son] of Jared, the [son] of Mahalaleel, the [son] of Cainan,
38 des Enos, des Seth, des Adam, des Gottes.
the [son] of Enos, the [son] of Seth, the [son] of Adam, the [son] of God.
