1 Und der König Ahasveros legte dem Lande und den Inseln des Meeres eine Abgabe auf.

King Ahasuerus laid a tribute on the land and on the islands of the sea.

2 Und alle Taten seiner Gewalt und seiner Macht und die Beschreibung der Größe Mordokais, zu welcher der König ihn erhob, sind sie nicht geschrieben in dem Buche der Chroniken der Könige der Meder und Perser?

Aren’t all the acts of his power and of his might, and the full account of the greatness of Mordecai, to which the king advanced him, written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia?

3 Denn Mordokai, der Jude, war der Zweite nach dem König Ahasveros, und groß bei den Juden, und wohlgefällig der Menge seiner Brüder; er suchte das Wohl seines Volkes und redete zur Wohlfahrt seines ganzen Geschlechts.

For Mordecai the Jew was next to King Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews and accepted by the multitude of his brothers, seeking the good of his people and speaking peace to all his descendants.
