Habakuk 2
1 Auf meine Warte will ich treten und auf den Turm mich stellen, und will spähen, um zu sehen, was er mit mir reden wird, und was ich erwidern soll auf meine Klage [Eig. meine Einrede [Kap. 1,12-17].] -
I will stand upon my watch, and mount upon the rock, and watch to see what he will say by me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.
2 Da antwortete mir Jehova und sprach: Schreibe das Gesicht auf, und grabe es in Tafeln ein, damit man es geläufig lesen könne;
And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision, and [that] plainly on a tablet, that he that reads it may run.
3 denn das Gesicht geht noch auf die bestimmte Zeit, und es strebt nach dem Ende hin [d. h. nach der Zeit des Endes hin; vergl. Dan. 8,19] und lügt nicht. Wenn es verzieht, so harre sein; denn kommen wird es, es wird nicht ausbleiben.
For the vision [is] yet for a time, and it shall shoot forth at the end, and not in vain: though he should tarry, wait for him; for he will surely come, and will not tarry.
4 Siehe, aufgeblasen, nicht aufrichtig ist in ihm seine Seele. Der Gerechte aber wird durch seinen Glauben leben.
If he should draw back, my soul has no pleasure in him: but the just shall live by my faith.
5 Und überdies: Der Wein ist treulos [O. tückisch; ] der übermütige Mann, der bleibt [And. üb.: rastet] nicht, er, der seinen Schlund weit aufsperrt wie der Scheol, und er ist wie der Tod und wird nicht satt; und er rafft an sich alle Nationen und sammelt zu sich alle Völker. (Sheol h7585)
But the arrogant man and the scorner, the boastful man, shall not finish anything; who has enlarged his desire as the grave, and like death he is never satisfied, and he will gather to himself all the nations, and will receive to himself all the peoples. (Sheol h7585)
6 Werden nicht diese alle über ihn einen Spruch und eine Spottrede anheben, Rätsel auf ihn? Und man wird sagen: Wehe dem, der aufhäuft, was nicht sein ist! -auf wie lange? -und der Pfandlast [Hier und in v 7 liegt im Hebr. ein Wortspiel vor, indem "Pfandlast" auch "Kotmasse" bedeuten kann und das Wort für "beißen" an "Wucherzins fordern" anklingt] auf sich ladet!
Shall not all these take up a parable against him? and a proverb to tell against him? and they shall say, Woe to him that multiplies to himself the possessions which are not his! how long? and who heavily loads his yoke.
7 Und werden nicht plötzlich aufstehen, die dich beißen, und aufwachen, die dich fortscheuchen [Eig. aufrütteln [aus deinem Besitztum]] werden? und du wirst ihnen zur Beute werden.
For suddenly there shall arise up those that bite him, and they that plot against thee shall awake, and thou shalt be a plunder to them.
8 Denn du, du hast viele Nationen beraubt; und so werden alle übriggebliebenen Völker dich berauben wegen des Blutes der Menschen und der Gewalttat an Land und Stadt und an allen ihren Bewohnern.
Because thou hast spoiled many nations, all the nations that are left shall spoil [thee], because of the blood of men, and the sins of the land and city, and of all that dwell in it.
9 Wehe dem, der bösen Gewinn macht für sein Haus, um sein Nest hoch zu setzen, um sich zu retten aus der Hand des Unglücks!
Woe to him that covets an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evils.
10 Du hast Schande beratschlagt für dein Haus, die Vertilgung vieler Völker, und hast dein Leben verschuldet [O. und so verschuldest du usw.]
Thou hast devised shame to thy house, thou hast utterly destroyed many nations, and thy soul has sinned.
11 Denn der Stein wird schreien aus der Mauer, und der Sparren aus dem Holzwerk ihm antworten.
For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beetle out of the timber shall speak.
12 Wehe dem, der Städte mit Blut baut, und Städte mit Ungerechtigkeit gründet!
Woe to him that builds a city with blood, and establishes a city by unrighteousness.
13 Siehe, ist es nicht von Jehova der Heerscharen, daß Völker fürs Feuer sich abmühen, und Völkerschaften vergebens sich plagen?
Are not these things of the Lord Almighty? surely many people have been exhausted in the fire, and many nations have fainted.
14 Denn die Erde wird voll werden von der Erkenntnis der Herrlichkeit Jehovas, gleichwie die Wasser den Meeresgrund bedecken. [Vergl. Jes. 11,9]
For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord; it shall cover them as water.
15 Wehe dem, der seinem Nächsten zu trinken gibt, indem du deinen Zorn beimischest [And. üb. mit veränderten Vokalen: indem du deinen Schlauch ausgießest, ] und sie auch trunken machst, um ihre Blöße anzuschauen!
Woe to him that gives his neighbour to drink the thick lees [of wine], and intoxicates [him], that he may look upon their secret parts.
16 Du hast mit Schande dich gesättigt anstatt mit Ehre: trinke auch du und zeige dein Unbeschnittensein; der Becher der Rechten Jehovas wird sich zu dir wenden, und schimpfliche Schande über deine Herrlichkeit kommen.
Drink thou also [thy] fill of disgrace instead of glory: shake, O heart, and quake, the cup of the right hand of the Lord has come round upon thee, and dishonour has gathered upon thy glory.
17 Denn die Gewalttat am Libanon wird dich bedecken, und die Zerstörung der Tiere, welche sie [nämlich die Tiere] in Schrecken setzte [and. l.: wird dich in Schrecken setzen]: wegen des Blutes der Menschen und der Gewalttat an Land und Stadt und an allen ihren Bewohnern.
For the ungodliness of Libanus shall cover thee, and distress because of wild beasts shall dismay thee, because of the blood of men, and the sins of the land and city, and of all that dwell in it.
18 Was nützt ein geschnitztes Bild, daß sein Bildner es geschnitzt hat? ein gegossenes Bild, und welches Lügen lehrt, daß der Bildner seines Bildes darauf vertraut, um stumme Götzen zu machen?
What profit it the graven image, that they have graven it? [one] has made it a molten work, a false image; for the maker has trusted in his work, to make dumb idols.
19 Wehe dem, der zum Holze spricht: Wache auf! zum schweigenden Steine: Erwache! Er sollte lehren? siehe, er ist mit Gold und Silber überzogen, und gar kein Odem ist in seinem Innern.
Woe to him that says to the wood, Awake, arise; and to the stone, Be thou exalted! whereas it is an image, and this is a casting of gold and silver, and there is no breath in it.
20 Aber Jehova ist in seinem heiligen Palast-schweige [O. still] vor ihm, ganze Erde!
But the Lord is in his holy temple: let all the earth fear before him.
