Marc 15
1 Dès le matin, les princes des prêtres s’étant assemblés avec les anciens, et les scribes, et tout le conseil, ils lièrent Jésus, l’emmenèrent et le livrèrent à Pilate.
At earliest dawn, after the High Priests had held a consultation with the Elders and Scribes, they and the entire Sanhedrin bound Jesus and took Him away and handed Him over to Pilate.
2 Et Pilate l’interrogea: Es-tu le roi des Juifs? Jésus lui répondant, lui dit: Tu le dis.
So Pilate questioned Him. "Are you the King of the Jews?" he asked. "I am," replied Jesus.
3 Et les princes des prêtres portaient contre lui beaucoup d’accusations.
Then, as the High Priests went on heaping accusations on Him,
4 Pilate l’interrogea de nouveau, disant: Tu ne réponds rien? Vois de combien de choses ils t’accusent.
Pilate again and again asked Him, "Do you make no reply? Listen to the many charges they are bringing against you."
5 Mais Jésus ne répondit pas davantage, de sorte que Pilate en était étonné.
But Jesus made no further answer: so that Pilate wondered.
6 Or à un des jours de la fête, il avait coutume de remettre au peuple un des prisonniers, celui qu’ils demandaient.
Now at the Festival it was customary for Pilate to release to the Jews any one prisoner whom they might beg off from punishment;
7 Il y avait alors un nommé Barabbas qui avait été mis en prison avec d’autres séditieux, et qui avait commis un meurtre dans la sédition.
and at this time a man named Barabbas was in prison among the insurgents--persons who in the insurrection had committed murder.
8 Le peuple étant donc monté devant le prétoire, commença à demander ce qu’il leur accordait toujours.
So the people came crowding up, asking Pilate to grant them the usual favour.
9 Pilate leur répondant, dit: Voulez-vous que je vous délivre le roi des Juifs?
"Shall I release for you the King of the Jews?" answered Pilate.
10 Car il savait que c’était par envie que les princes des prêtres l’avaient livré.
For he could see that it was out of sheer spite that the High Priests had handed Him over.
11 Mais les pontifes excitèrent le peuple à demander qu’il leur délivrât plutôt Barabbas.
But the High Priests urged on the crowd to obtain Barabbas's release in preference;
12 Pilate répondant encore, leur dit: Que voulez-vous donc que je fasse du roi des Juifs?
and when Pilate again asked them, "What then shall I do to the man you call King of the Jews?"
13 Mais de nouveau ils crièrent: Crucifiez-le!
they once more shouted out, "Crucify Him!"
14 Pilate, cependant, leur disait: Mais quel mal a-t-il fait? Et eux criaient encore plus: Crucifiez-le!
"Why, what crime has he committed?" asked Pilate. But they vehemently shouted, "Crucify Him!"
15 Pilate donc, voulant complaire au peuple, leur remit Barabbas, et il leur livra Jésus déchiré de verges, pour être crucifié.
So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the mob, released Barabbas for them, and after scourging Jesus handed Him over for crucifixion.
16 Or les soldats le conduisirent dans la cour du prétoire, et ayant convoqué toute la cohorte,
Then the soldiers led Him away into the court of the Palace (the Praetorium), and calling together the whole battalion
17 Ils le vêtirent de pourpre, et tressant une couronne d’épines, ils la mirent sur sa tête.
they arrayed Him in crimson, placed on His head a wreath of thorny twigs which they had twisted,
18 Puis ils commencèrent à le saluer, disant: Salut, roi des Juifs!
and went on to salute Him with shouts of "Long live the King of the Jews."
19 Et ils lui frappaient la tête avec un roseau; et ils crachaient sur lui, et fléchissant le genou, ils l’adoraient.
Then they began to beat Him on the head with a cane, to spit on Him, and to do Him homage on bended knees.
20 Et après qu’ils se furent ainsi joués de lui, ils lui ôtèrent la pourpre et le couvrirent de ses vêtements; puis ils l’emmenèrent pour le crucifier.
At last, having finished their sport, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him out to crucify Him.
21 Et ils contraignirent un certain Simon de Cyrène, père d’Alexandre et de Rufus, qui passait par là en revenant de sa maison des champs, de porter sa croix.
One Simon, a Cyrenaean, the father of Alexander and Rufus, was passing along, coming from the country: him they compelled to carry His cross.
22 Ensuite ils le conduisirent au lieu appelé Golgotha; ce que l’on interprète par lieu du Calvaire.
So they brought Him to the place called Golgotha, which, being translated, means 'Skull-ground.'
23 Ils lui présentaient à boire du vin mêlé de myrrhe; mais il n’en prit point.
Here they offered Him wine mixed with myrrh; but He refused it.
24 Et l’ayant crucifié, ils se partagèrent ses vêtements, y jetant le sort, pour savoir ce que chacun en emporterait.
Then they crucified Him. This done, they divided His garments among them, drawing lots to decide what each should take.
25 Or il était la troisième heure lorsqu’ils le crucifièrent,
It was nine o'clock in the morning when they crucified Him.
26 Et le titre de sa condamnation était ainsi écrit: Le Roi des Juifs.
Over His head was the notice in writing of the charge against Him: THE KING OF THE JEWS.
27 Ils crucifièrent avec lui deux voleurs, l’un à sa droite, l’autre à sa gauche.
And together with Jesus they crucified two robbers, one at His right hand and one at His left.
28 Ainsi fut accomplie l’Ecriture, qui dit: Il a été mis au rang des scélérats.
29 Et les passants le blasphémaient, branlant la tête, et disant: Ah! toi qui détruis le temple de Dieu et le rebâtis en trois jours,
And all the passers-by reviled Him. They shook their heads at Him and said, "Ah! you who were for destroying the Sanctuary and building a new one in three days,
30 Sauve-toi toi-même, et descends de la croix.
come down from the cross and save yourself."
31 Pareillement les princes des prêtres eux-mêmes se moquant de lui avec les scribes, se disaient l’un à l’autre: Il a sauvé les autres, et il ne peut se sauver lui-même.
In the same way the High Priests also, as well as the Scribes, kept on scoffing at Him, saying to one another, "He has saved others: himself he cannot save!
32 Que le Christ, le roi d’Israël, descende maintenant de la croix, afin que nous voyions et que nous croyions. Et ceux qui avaient été crucifiés avec lui, l’outrageaient de même.
This Christ, the King of Israel, let him come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe." Even the men who were being crucified with Him heaped insults on Him.
33 La sixième heure venue, les ténèbres se répandirent sur toute la terre jusqu’à la neuvième heure.
At noon there came a darkness over the whole land, lasting till three o'clock in the afternoon.
34 Et à la neuvième heure, Jésus cria d’une voix forte, disant; Eloï, Eloï, lamma sabacthani; ce que l’on interprète ainsi: Mon Dieu, mon Dieu, pourquoi m’avez-vous délaissé?
But at three o'clock Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "Elohi, Elohi, lama sabachthani?" which means, "My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken me?"
35 Quelques-uns de ceux qui l’environnaient, l’entendant, disaient: Voilà qu’il appelle Elie.
Some of the bystanders, hearing Him, said, "Listen, he is calling for Elijah!"
36 Et aussitôt l’un d’eux, courant, emplit de vinaigre une éponge, et l’ayant mise au bout d’un roseau, il lui présentait à boire, disant: Laissez; voyons si Elie viendra le délivrer.
Then a man ran to fill a sponge with sour wine, and he put it on the end of a cane and placed it to His lips, saying at the same time, "Wait! let us see whether Elijah will come and take him down."
37 Mais Jésus ayant poussé un grand cri, expira.
But Jesus uttered a loud cry and yielded up His spirit.
38 Et le voile du temple se déchira en deux, depuis le haut jusqu’en bas.
And the curtain in the Sanctuary was torn in two, from top to bottom.
39 Or le centurion, qui était vis-à-vis, voyant qu’il avait expiré en jetant un pareil cri, dit: Vraiment, cet homme était le fils de Dieu.
And when the Centurion who stood in front of the cross saw that He was dead, he exclaimed, "This man was indeed God's Son."
40 Il y avait là aussi des femmes qui regardaient de loin, parmi lesquelles étaient Marie-Madeleine, Marie, mère de Jacques le Mineur et de Joseph, et Salomé;
There were also a party of women looking on from a distance; among them being both Mary of Magdala and Mary the mother of James the Little and of Joses, and Salome--
41 Et qui, lorsqu’il était en Galilée, le suivaient et le servaient; et beaucoup d’autres qui étaient montées avec lui à Jérusalem.
all of whom in the Galilaean days had habitually been with Him and cared for Him, as well as many other women who had come up to Jerusalem with Him.
42 Le soir étant déjà venu (parce que c’était le jour de la préparation qui précède le sabbat),
Towards sunset, as it was the Preparation--that is, the day preceding the Sabbath--
43 Joseph d’Arimathie, noble décurion, qui lui-même attendait le royaume de Dieu, vint et entra hardiment chez Pilate, et lui demanda le corps de Jésus.
Joseph of Arimathaea came, a highly respected member of the Council, who himself also was living in expectation of the Kingdom of God. He summoned up courage to go in to see Pilate and beg for the body of Jesus.
44 Pilate s’étonnait qu’il fût mort sitôt; il fit donc venir le centurion, et lui demanda s’il était déjà mort.
But Pilate could hardly believe that He was already dead. He called, however, for the Centurion and inquired whether He had been long dead;
45 Or s’en étant assuré par le centurion, il donna le corps à Joseph.
and having ascertained the fact he granted the body to Joseph.
46 Et Joseph ayant acheté un linceul et détaché Jésus de la croix, l’enveloppa dans le linceul, le mit dans un sépulcre qui avait été taillé dans le roc, et roula une pierre à l’entrée du sépulcre.
He, having bought a sheet of linen, took Him down, wrapped Him in the sheet and laid Him in a tomb hewn in the rock; after which he rolled a stone against the entrance to the tomb.
47 Or Marie-Madeleine, et Marie, mère de Joseph, regardaient où on le mettrait.
Mary of Magdala and Mary the mother of Joses were looking on to see where He was put.
