Luc 16
1 Jésus (lisait encore à ses disciples: Il était un homme riche qui avait un économe; et celui-ci fut accusé auprès de lui d’avoir dissipé ses biens.
And he spoke a parable to his disciples. There was a certain rich man, who had a steward; and accusations were brought to him of him, that he squandered his property.
2 Il l’appela, et lui dit: Qu’est-ce que j’entends dire de toi? Rends-moi compte de ton administration, car désormais tu ne pourras plus la conserver.
And his lord called him, and said to him: What is this that I hear of thee? Render to me an account of thy stewardship; for thou canst no longer be my steward.
3 Alors l’économe dit en lui-même: Que ferai-je, puisque mon maître m’ôte l’administration de ses biens? Travailler à la terre, je n’en ai pas la force, et j’ai honte de mendier.
And the steward said with himself: What shall I do, since my lord is about to take from me the stewardship? To dig, I am unable; and to become a beggar, I am ashamed.
4 Je sais ce que je ferai, afin que, lorsque j’aurai été renvoyé de ma charge, il y en ait qui me reçoivent dans leurs maisons.
I know what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me to their houses.
5 Ayant donc appelé chacun des débiteurs de son maître, il demanda au premier: Combien devez-vous à mon maître?
And he called each one of his lord's debtors; and he said to the first, How much owest thou to my lord?
6 Il répondit: Cent barils d’huile. Et l’économe lui dit: Prenez votre obligation, et asseyez-vous vite, et écrivez cinquante.
And he said to him, One hundred measures of oil. And he said to him: Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write Fifty measures.
7 Ensuite il dit à un autre: Et vous, combien devez-vous? Celui-ci répondit: Cent mesures de froment. Prenez, lui dit-il, votre billet, et écrivez quatre-vingts.
And he said to another: And how much owest thou to my lord? And he said to him, One hundred cors of wheat. And he said to him: Take thy bill, and sit down, and write Eighty cors.
8 Et le maître de l’économe infidèle le loua d’avoir agi prudemment; car les fils du siècle sont plus prudents entre eux que les fils de la lumière. (aiōn g165)
And our Lord praised the unrighteous steward, for having acted sagaciously: for the children of this world are more sagacious than the children of light, in this their generation. (aiōn g165)
9 Et moi je vous dis: Faites-vous des amis avec les richesses injustes, afin que, lorsque vous viendrez à manquer, ils vous reçoivent dans les tabernacles éternels. (aiōnios g166)
And I also say to you: Make to yourselves friends, with this unrighteous mammon; so that when it is finished, they may receive you to their everlasting tabernacles. (aiōnios g166)
10 Celui qui est fidèle dans les moindres choses, est fidèle aussi dans les grandes; et celui qui est injuste dans les petites choses, est injuste aussi dans les grandes.
He that is faithful in the little, is also faithful in the much; and he that is unjust in the little, is also unjust in the much.
11 Si donc vous n’avez pas été fidèle dans les richesses injustes, qui vous confiera les véritables?
If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will intrust to you the reality?
12 Et si vous n’avez pas été fidèle dans le bien d’autrui, qui vous donnera celui qui est à vous?
And if ye have not been found faithful in that which is not yours, who will give to you that which is yours?
13 Nul serviteur ne peut servir deux maîtres: car, où il haïra l’un et aimera l’autre, ou il s’attachera à l’un et méprisera l’autre: vous ne pouvez servir Dieu et l’argent,
There is no servant, who can serve two lords. For, either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will honor the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
14 Or les pharisiens, qui étaient avares, écoutaient toutes ces choses et se moquaient de lui.
And the Pharisees, when they heard all these things, because they loved money, derided him.
15 Et il leur dit: C’est vous qui vous justifiez devant les hommes, mais Dieu connaît vos cœurs; car ce qui est grand aux yeux des hommes, est en abomination devant Dieu.
And Jesus said to them: Ye are such as justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your heart: for that which is exalted among men, is abominable before God.
16 La loi et les prophètes ont duré jusqu’à Jean; depuis, le royaume de Dieu est annoncé, et chacun fait effort pour y entrer.
The law and the prophets were until John: since then, the kingdom of God is proclaimed, and every one presseth it to enter in.
17 Le ciel et la terre passeront, plutôt qu’il ne tombe un seul point de la loi.
And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one letter to pass from the law.
18 Quiconque renvoie sa femme et en épouse une autre, commet un adultère; et qui épouse une femme renvoyée par son mari, commet un adultère.
Whoever putteth away his wife, and taketh another, committeth adultery; and whoever taketh her that is put away, committeth adultery.
19 Il y avait un homme riche qui était vêtu de pourpre et de fin lin; et il faisait chaque jour une splendide chère.
And there was a certain rich man, who was clothed in fine linen and scarlet, and passed every day in splendid luxury.
20 Il y avait aussi un mendiant, nommé Lazare, lequel était couché à sa porte, couvert d’ulcères,
And there was a certain poor man, whose name was Lazarus; and he was laid at the gate of the rich man, smitten with ulcers.
21 Désirant se rassasier des miettes qui tombaient de la table du riche, et personne ne lui en donnait; mais les chiens venaient et léchaient ses ulcères.
And he desired to fill his belly with the fragments that fell from the rich man's table: and the dogs also came and licked his ulcers.
22 Or il arriva que le mendiant mourut, et fut porté par les anges dans le sein d’Abraham. Le riche mourut aussi, et fut enseveli dans l’enfer. (Hadēs g86)
And so it was, that the poor man died; and angels transported him to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died, and was buried.
23 Or, levant les yeux, lorsqu’il était dans les tourments, il vit de loin Abraham, et Lazare dans son sein:
And being tormented in hell, he raised his eyes from afar off, and saw Abraham, and Lazarus in his bosom. (Hadēs g86)
24 Et s’écriant, il dit: Père Abraham, ayez pitié de moi, et envoyez Lazare, afin qu’il trempe le bout de son doigt dans l’eau pour rafraîchir ma langue; car je suis tourmenté dans cette flamme.
And he called with a loud voice, and said: Abraham, my father, have pity on me; and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and moisten my tongue; for, lo, I am tormented in this flame.
25 Et Abraham lui dit: Mon fils, souviens-toi que pendant ta vie tu as reçu les biens, de même que Lazare les maux; or maintenant il est consolé, et toi tu es tourmenté.
And Abraham said to him: My son, remember, that thou receivedst thy good things in thy lifetime, and Lazarus his evil things: and now, behold he is here at rest, and thou art tormented.
26 De plus, entre nous et vous, il y a pour jamais un grand abîme, de sorte que ceux qui voudraient passer d’ici à vous, ou de là venir ici, ne le peuvent pas.
And with all these, there is a great barrier between us and you; so that they who would pass from here to you, cannot; neither can they pass from there to us
27 Et le riche dit: Je vous prie donc, père, de l’envoyer dans la maison de mon père;
He said to him: I pray thee, therefore, my father, that thou wouldst send him to my father's house;
28 Car j’ai cinq frères; afin qu’il leur atteste ces choses, et qu’ils ne viennent pas aussi eux-mêmes dans ce lieu de tourments.
for I have five brothers; that he may go and protest to them; lest they also come to this place of torment.
29 Mais Abraham lui repartit. Ils ont Moïse et les prophètes; qu’ils les écoulent.
Abraham said to him: They have Moses and the prophets, let them hear them.
30 Et il dit: Non, père Abraham; mais si quelqu’un va des morts vers eux, ils feront pénitence.
But he said to him: No, my father Abraham: but if one shall go to them from the dead, they will repent.
31 Abraham lui répondit: S’ils n’écoutent point Moïse et les prophètes, quand même quelqu’un des morts ressusciterait, ils ne croiraient pas.
Abraham said to him: If they hear not Moses and the prophets, they will not believe, though one should rise from the dead.
