Jude 1
1 Jude, serviteur de Jésus-Christ et frère de Jacques, à ceux qui sont aimés de Dieu le Père, et conservés et appelés en Jésus-Christ.
Jude, a bondservant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James: To those who are in God the Father, enfolded in His love, and kept for Jesus Christ, and called.
2 Que la miséricorde, la paix et la charité abondent en vous.
May mercy, peace and love be abundantly granted to you.
3 Mes bien-aimés, me sentant pressé de vous écrire touchant votre salut commun, j’ai dû écrire afin de vous exhorter à combattre pour la foi qui a été déjà transmise aux saints.
Dear friends, since I am eager to begin a letter to you on the subject of our common salvation, I find myself constrained to write and cheer you on to the vigorous defense of the faith delivered once for all to God's people.
4 Car il s’est introduit parmi vous quelques hommes impies (qui depuis longtemps ont été prédestinés à ce jugement), changeant la grâce de notre Dieu en luxure, reniant notre seul Maître et Seigneur, Jésus-Christ.
For certain persons have crept in unnoticed--men spoken of in ancient writings as pre-destined to this condemnation--ungodly men, who pervert the grace of our God into an excuse for immorality, and disown Jesus Christ, our only Sovereign and Lord.
5 Or je veux vous rappeler, à vous qui savez déjà toutes ces choses, que Jésus ayant délivré le peuple de la terre d’Egypte, perdit ensuite ceux qui ne crurent point;
I desire to remind you--although the whole matter is already familiar to you--that the Lord saved a people out of the land of Egypt, but afterwards destroyed those who had no faith.
6 Que, quant aux anges qui ne conservèrent pas leur première dignité, mais qui abandonnèrent leur propre demeure, il les mit en réserve pour le jugement du grand jour, dans des chaînes éternelles et de profondes ténèbres. (aïdios g126)
And angels--those who did not keep the position originally assigned to them, but deserted their own proper abode--He reserves in everlasting bonds, in darkness, in preparation for the judgement of the great day. (aïdios g126)
7 C’est ainsi que Sodome et Gomorrhe, et les villes voisines livrées aux mêmes excès d’impureté, et courant après d’infâmes débauches, sont devenues un exemple, en souffrant la peine d’un feu éternel. (aiōnios g166)
So also Sodom and Gomorrah--and the neighboring towns in the same manner--having been guilty of gross fornication and having gone astray in pursuit of unnatural vice, are now before us as a specimen of the fire of the Ages in the punishment which they are undergoing. (aiōnios g166)
8 Et cependant c’est de la même manière que ceux-ci souillent encore leur chair, qu’ils méprisent la domination, et qu’ils blasphèment la majesté.
Yet in just the same way these dreamers also pollute the body, while they set authority at naught and speak evil of dignities.
9 Lorsque l’archange Michel, disputant avec le diable, lui contestait le corps de Moïse, il n’osa pas le condamner avec des paroles de malédiction, mais il dit: Que le Seigneur te commande.
But Michael the Archangel, when contending with the Devil and arguing with him about the body of Moses, did not dare to pronounce judgement on him in abusive terms, but simply said, "The Lord rebuke you."
10 Mais ceux-ci blasphèment tout ce qu’ils ignorent, et dans tout ce qu’ils connaissent naturellement comme les animaux muets, ils se corrompent.
Yet these men are abusive in matters of which they know nothing, and in things which, like the brutes, they understand instinctively--in all these they corrupt themselves.
11 Malheur à eux parce qu’ils sont entrés dans la voie de Caïn, et que s’égarant comme Balaam, ils ont, pour le gain, rompu toute digue, et se sont perdus dans la rébellion de Coré.
Alas for them; for they have followed in the steps of Cain; for the sake of gain they have rushed on headlong in the evil ways of Balaam; and have perished in rebellion like that of Korah!
12 Ils font le déshonneur de leurs festins, se gorgeant sans retenue, se paissant eux-mêmes; nuées sans eau que les vents emportent çà et là; arbres qui ne fleurissent qu’en automne, stériles, deux fois morts, déracinés;
These men--sunken rocks! --are those who share the pleasure of your love-feasts, unrestrained by fear while caring only for themselves; clouds without water, driven away by the winds; trees that cast their fruit, barren, doubly dead, uprooted;
13 Vagues furieuses de la mer, jetant l’écume de leurs infamies; astres errants auxquels une tempête de ténèbres est réservée pour l’éternité. (aiōn g165)
wild waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, for whom is reserved dense darkness of age-long duration. (aiōn g165)
14 C’est d’eux qu’Enoch, le septième après Adam, a prophétisé, disant: Voici venir le Seigneur avec ses milliers de saints,
It was also about these that Enoch, who belonged to the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, "The Lord has come, attended by myriads of His people, to execute judgement upon all,
15 Pour exercer son jugement contre tous les hommes, et convaincre tous les impies touchant toutes les œuvres d’impiété qu’ils ont faites, et toutes les paroles dures qu’ont proférées contre Dieu ces pécheurs impies.
and to convict all the ungodly of all the ungodly deeds which in their ungodliness they have committed, and of all the hard words which they, ungodly sinners as they are, have spoken against Him."
16 Ce sont des murmurateurs, se plaignant sans cesse, marchant selon leurs désirs; leur bouche profère des paroles d’orgueil, et ils admirent les personnes en vue d’un profit.
These men are murmurers, ever bemoaning their lot. Their lives are guided by their evil passions, and their mouths are full of big, boastful words, while they treat individual men with admiring reverence for the sake of the advantage they can gain.
17 Mais vous, mes bien-aimés, souvenez-vous des paroles qui ont été dites déjà par les apôtres de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ,
But as for you, my dearly-loved friends, remember the words that before now were spoken by the Apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ--
18 Qui vous disaient qu’à la fin des temps viendront des imposteurs, marchant selon leurs désirs dans l’impiété.
how they declared to you, "In the last times there shall be scoffers, obeying only their own ungodly passions."
19 Ce sont des gens qui se séparent eux-mêmes, hommes de vie animale, n’ayant pas l’Esprit.
These are those who cause divisions. They are men of the world, wholly unspiritual.
20 Mais vous, mes bien-aimés, vous édifiant vous-mêmes sur votre très sainte foi, priant dans l’Esprit-Saint,
But you, my dearly-loved friends, building yourselves up on the basis of your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,
21 Conservez-vous dans l’amour de Dieu, attendant la miséricorde de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ pour la vie éternelle. (aiōnios g166)
must keep yourselves safe in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ which will result in the Life of the Ages. (aiōnios g166)
22 Reprenez ceux-ci après les avoir convaincus;
Some, when they argue with you, you must endeavor to convince;
23 Sauvez ceux-là en les arrachant au feu. Pour les autres, ayez-en pitié par crainte, prenant même en haine cette tunique de chair qui est souillée.
others you must try to save, as brands plucked from the flames; and on others look with pity mingled with fear, while you hate every trace of their sin.
24 Mais à celui qui peut vous conserver sans péché, et vous établir en présence de sa gloire, purs et pleins de joie à l’avènement de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ;
But to Him who is able to keep you safe from stumbling, and cause you to stand in the presence of His glory free from blemish and full of exultant joy--
25 Au seul Dieu notre Sauveur, par Jésus-Christ Notre Seigneur, gloire et magnificence, empire et puissance, avant tous les siècles, et maintenant, et dans tous les siècles des siècles. Amen. (aiōn g165)
to the only God our Saviour--through Jesus Christ our Lord, be ascribed glory, majesty, might, and authority, as it was before all time, is now, and shall be to all the Ages! Amen. (aiōn g165)
