Exode 11

1 Et le Seigneur dit à Moïse: Je frapperai encore Pharaon et l’Egypte d’une seule plaie, et après cela il vous laissera aller, et vous pressera même de partir.

Then Yahweh said to Moses, “There is still one more plague that I will bring on Pharaoh and Egypt. After that, he will let you go from here. When he finally lets you go, he will drive you away completely.

2 Tu diras donc à tout le peuple: Que chaque homme demande à son ami, et chaque femme à sa voisine, des vases d’argent et d’or.

Instruct the people that every man and woman is to ask of his or her neighbor for articles of silver and articles of gold.”

3 Et le Seigneur fera trouver grâce à son peuple devant les Egyptiens. Or Moïse était devenu très grand dans toute l’Egypte, tant aux yeux des serviteurs du Pharaon que de tout son peuple.

Now Yahweh had made the Egyptians eager to please the Israelites. Moreover, the man Moses was very impressive in the sight of Pharaoh's servants and the people of Egypt.

4 Et il lui dit avant de le quitter: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Je sortirai au milieu de la nuit et je parcourrai l’Egypte,

Moses said, “Yahweh says this: 'About midnight I will go throughout Egypt.

5 et tous les premiers-nés mourront dans le pays des Egyptiens, depuis le premier-né du Pharaon, qui est assis sur son trône, jusqu’au premier-né de la servante qui tourne la meule, et jusqu’aux premiers-nés des bêtes.

All the firstborn in the land of Egypt will die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sits on his throne, to the firstborn of the slave girl who is behind the handmill grinding it, and to all the firstborn of the cattle.

6 Et il s’élèvera un grand cri dans toute l’Egypte, tel qu’il n’y en eut et n’y en aura jamais un semblable après.

Then there will be a great wailing throughout all the land of Egypt, such as has never been nor ever will be again.

7 Mais parmi tous les enfants d’Israël, depuis les hommes jusqu’aux bêtes, on n’entendra pas seulement un chien crier, afin que vous sachiez par quel grand miracle le Seigneur discerne Israël d’avec les Egyptiens.

But not even a dog will bark against any of the people of Israel, against either man or beast. In this way you will know that I am treating the Egyptians and the Israelites differently.'

8 Alors tous tes serviteurs que tu vois ici viendront à moi, et ils m’adoreront en disant: Sors, toi et tout le peuple qui t’est soumis. Et après cela nous sortirons.

All these servants of yours, Pharaoh, will come down to me and bow down to me. They will say, 'Go, you and all the people who follow you!' After that I will go out.” Then he went out from Pharaoh in great anger.

9 Et Moïse se retira de devant Pharaon dans une très grande colère. Or le Seigneur dit à Moïse: Pharaon ne vous écoutera point, afin qu’il se fasse un grand nombre de prodiges dans l’Egypte.

Yahweh said to Moses, “Pharaoh will not listen to you. This is so that I will do many amazing things in the land of Egypt.”

10 Moïse et Aaron firent devant Pharaon tous les prodiges qui sont écrits ici. Mais le Seigneur endurcit le cœur du Pharaon, et ce prince ne permit point aux enfants d’Israël de sortir de ses terres.

Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh. But Yahweh hardened Pharaoh's heart, and Pharaoh did not let the people of Israel go out of his land.
