2 Thessaloniciens 2

1 Or nous vous conjurons, mes frères, par l’avènement de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, et par notre réunion avec lui,

But we request you, brethren, —in behalf of the Presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together unto him,

2 De ne point vous laisser si vite ébranler dans vos sentiments, ni effrayer, soit par quelque esprit, soit par des discours, soit par des lettres supposées venir de nous, comme si le jour du Seigneur était proche.

That ye be not quickly tossed from your mind, nor be put in alarm—either by spirit, or by discourse, or by letter as by us, as that the day of the Lord, hath set in:

3 Que personne ne vous séduise en aucune manière; car il ne viendra point, qu’auparavant ne soit venue l’apostasie, et que n’ait paru l’homme du péché, le fils de la perdition,

That no one may cheat, you, in any one respect. Because [that day will not set in] —except the revolt come first, and there he revealed the man of lawlessness, the son of destruction,

4 Qui se pose en ennemi et s’élève au-dessus de tout ce qui est appelé Dieu, ou qui est adoré, jusqu’à s’asseoir dans le temple de Dieu, se faisant passer lui-même pour Dieu.

The one who opposeth and exalteth himself on high against every one called God, or an object of worship; so that he, within the sanctuary of God, shall take his seat, showeth himself forth, that he is, God: —

5 Ne vous souvient-il pas que, lorsque j’étais encore avec vous, je vous disais ces choses?

Remember ye not, that, while I was yet with you, these very things, I was telling you?

6 Et vous savez ce qui le retient maintenant, afin qu’il paraisse en son temps;

And, what now restraineth, ye know, to the end he may be revealed in his own fitting time;

7 Car déjà s’opère le mystère d’iniquité; seulement, que celui qui tient maintenant, tienne jusqu’à ce qu’il disparaisse.

For, the secret, of lawlessness, already, is inwardly working itself, —only, until, he that restraineth at present, shall be gone, out of the midst:

8 Et alors apparaîtra cet impie que le Seigneur Jésus tuera par le souffle de sa bouche, et qu’il détruira par l’éclat de son avènement.

And, then, shall be revealed the lawless one, —whom, the Lord [Jesus], will slay with the Spirit of his mouth, and paralyse with the forthshining of his Presence: —

9 Il viendra par l’opération de Satan, au milieu de toute sorte de miracles, de signes et de prodiges menteurs,

Whose, presence, [shall be] according to an inworking of Satan, with all manner of mighty work and signs and wonders of falsehood,

10 Et avec toute séduction d’iniquité pour ceux qui périssent, parce qu’ils n’ont pas reçu l’amour de la vérité afin d’être sauvés.

And with all manner of deceit of unrighteousness, in them who are destroying themselves, because, the love of the truth, they did not welcome, that they might be saved; —

11 C’est pourquoi Dieu leur enverra une opération d’erreur, de manière qu’ils croiront au mensonge;

And, for this cause, God sendeth them an inworking of error, to the end they should believe in the falsehood, —

12 En sorte que soient condamnés tous ceux qui n’ont pas cru à la vérité, mais ont acquiescé à l’iniquité.

In order that should be judged who would not believe in the truth, but were well-pleased with the unrighteousness.

13 Mais nous, mes frères chéris de Dieu, nous devons sans cesse rendre grâces à Dieu pour vous, de ce qu’il vous a choisis comme des prémices, pour vous sauver par la sanctification de l’Esprit et par la foi de la vérité,

But, we, are bound to give thanks unto God continually concerning you, brethren beloved by the Lord, for that God chose you, from the beginning, unto salvation, in sanctification of spirit and belief of truth, —

14 À laquelle il vous a appelés par notre Evangile, pour acquérir la gloire de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ.

Unto which he called you, through means of our glad-message, unto an acquiring of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15 C’est pourquoi, mes frères, demeurez fermes, et gardez les traditions que vous avez apprises soit par nos discours, soit par notre lettre.

Hence, then, brethren, stand firm, and hold fast the instructions which ye were taught—whether through discourse, or through our letter.

16 Que Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ lui même, et que notre Dieu et Père, qui nous a aimés et nous a donné une consolation éternelle et une bonne espérance par sa grâce, (aiōnios g166)

But may, our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and our God and Father, —Who hath loved you, and given you age-abiding consolation and good hope by favour, (aiōnios g166)

17 Ranime vos cœurs, et vous affermisse en toute bonne œuvre et toute bonne doctrine.

Console your hearts, and confirm you in every good work and word!
