2 Chroniques 27

1 Jonatham avait vingt-cinq ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna seize ans à Jérusalem; le nom de sa mère était Jérusa, fille de Sadoc.

twenty-five years old, was Jotham when he began to reign, and, sixteen years, reigned he in Jerusalem, —and, the name of his mother, was Jerushah, daughter of Zadok.

2 Et il fit ce qui était droit devant le Seigneur, selon tout ce qu’avait fait Ozias, son père, excepté qu’il n’entra point dans le temple du Seigneur; mais le peuple péchait encore.

And he did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, according to all that Uzziah his father had done, only he entered not into the temple of Yahweh, —though still were the people acting corruptly.

3 Ce fut lui qui bâtit la grande porte de la maison du Seigneur, et sur le mur d’Ophel il fit beaucoup de constructions.

He, built the upper gate of the house of Yahweh, -and, on the wall of Ophel, built he extensively.

4 Il bâtit aussi des villes sur les montagnes de Juda, et, dans les bois, des châteaux et des tours.

Cities also, built he, in the hill country of Judah, —and, in the thick woods, built he fortresses and towers.

5 Ce fut lui qui combattit contre le roi des enfants d’Ammon, et il les vainquit; et les enfants d’Ammon lui donnèrent en ce temps-là cent talents d’argent, dix mille cors de froment et autant d’orge: c’est là ce que lui donnèrent les enfants d’Ammon en l’année seconde et troisième.

He, also made war against the king of the sons of Ammon, and prevailed against them, and the sons of Ammon gave him, during that year, a hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and, of barley, ten thousand, —this, did the sons of Ammon render him, both in the second year, and the third.

6 Et Joatham s’affermit, parce qu’il avait dirigé ses voies devant le Seigneur son Dieu.

So Jotham strengthened himself, —for he fixed his ways before Yahweh his God.

7 Mais si le reste des actions de Joatham, tous ses combats, et ses œuvres sont écrits dans le Livre des rois d’Israël et de Juda.

But, the rest of the story of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, lo! there they are written in the book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.

8 Il avait vingt-cinq ans, lorsqu’il commença à régner, et il régna seize ans dans Jérusalem.

Twenty-five years old, was he when he began to reign, —and, sixteen years, reigned he in Jerusalem.

9 Et Joatham dormit avec ses pères, et on l’ensevelit dans la cité de David, et Achaz, son fils, régna en sa place.

And Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him, in the city of David, —and Ahaz his son reigned in his stead.
