Matthieu 13
1 Ce même jour, Jésus, étant sorti de la maison, s'assit au bord de la mer;
On that day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea.
2 et une grande foule s'assembla autour de lui, de sorte qu'il monta dans une barque. Il s'y assit, tandis que toute la multitude se tenait sur le rivage;
A very large crowd gathered around him, so he got into a boat and sat in it, while the whole crowd stood on the beach.
3 et il leur fit plusieurs discours en paraboles. Jésus leur parla ainsi:
Then Jesus said many things to them in parables. He said, “Behold, a farmer went out to sow seed.
4 Le semeur sortit pour semer. Comme il semait, une partie de la semence tomba le long du chemin, et les oiseaux vinrent et la mangèrent.
As he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and devoured them.
5 Une autre partie tomba sur des endroits pierreux où elle n'avait que peu de terre, et elle leva aussitôt, parce qu'elle n'entrait pas profondément dans la terre;
Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil. Immediately they sprang up, because the soil had no depth.
6 mais le soleil s'étant levé, elle fut brûlée, et, parce qu'elle n'avait point de racines, elle sécha.
But when the sun had risen, they were scorched because they had no root, and they withered away.
7 Une autre partie tomba parmi les épines, et les épines montèrent et l'étouffèrent.
Other seeds fell among the thorn plants. The thorn plants grew up and choked them.
8 Une autre partie tomba dans la bonne terre, et donna du fruit: un grain en rapporta cent, un autre soixante, et un autre trente.
Other seeds fell on good soil and produced a crop, some one hundred times as much, some sixty, and some thirty.
9 Que celui qui a des oreilles entende!
He who has ears, let him listen.”
10 Alors les disciples s'approchèrent et lui dirent: Pourquoi leur parles-tu en paraboles?
The disciples came and said to Jesus, “Why do you talk to the crowd in parables?”
11 Il leur répondit: Parce qu'il vous a été donné de connaître les mystères du royaume des cieux; mais pour eux, cela ne leur a pas été donné.
Jesus answered and said to them, “You have been given the privilege of understanding mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
12 Car on donnera à celui qui a, et il sera dans l'abondance; mais à celui qui n'a pas, on ôtera même ce qu'il a.
For whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. But whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.
13 C'est pourquoi, je leur parle en paraboles, parce qu'en voyant, ils ne voient pas, et qu'en entendant ils n'entendent et ne comprennent point.
This is why I talk to them in parables: Though they are seeing, they do not see; and though they are hearing, they do not hear, or understand.
14 Ainsi s'accomplit à leur égard la prophétie d'Ésaïe, qui dit: «Vous entendrez de vos oreilles, et vous ne comprendrez pas; vous regarderez de vos yeux, et vous ne verrez point.
To them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, that which says, 'While hearing you will hear, but you will in no way understand; while seeing you will see, but you will in no way perceive.
15 Car le coeur de ce peuple s'est appesanti; ils ont endurci leurs oreilles, ils ont fermé leurs yeux, de peur qu'ils ne voient de leurs yeux, qu'ils n'entendent de leurs oreilles, qu'ils ne comprennent de leur coeur, qu'ils ne se convertissent et que je ne les guérisse.»
For this people's heart has become dull, and they are hard of hearing, and they have closed their eyes, so they should not see with their eyes, or hear with their ears, or understand with their hearts, so they would turn again, and I would heal them.'
16 Mais, quant à vous, heureux sont vos yeux, parce qu'ils voient, et vos oreilles, parce qu'elles entendent!
But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear.
17 En vérité, je vous le déclare, beaucoup de prophètes et de justes ont désiré voir ce que vous voyez, et ils ne l'ont pas vu, et entendre ce que vous entendez, et ils ne l'ont pas entendu.
Truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see the things that you see, and did not see them. They desired to hear the things that you hear, and did not hear them.
18 Vous donc, écoutez ce que signifie la parabole du semeur.
Listen then to the parable of the farmer who sowed his seed.
19 Lorsqu'un homme entend la parole du royaume et ne la comprend pas, le Malin vient et enlève ce qui a été semé dans son coeur; c'est celui qui a reçu la semence le long du chemin.
When anyone hears the word of the kingdom but does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the seed that was sown beside the road.
20 Celui qui a reçu la semence dans les endroits pierreux, c'est celui qui entend la parole et qui la reçoit aussitôt avec joie.
What was sown on rocky ground is the person who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy,
21 Mais il n'y a pas en lui de racines; il n'est que pour un temps. Et lorsque l'affliction ou la persécution survient à cause de la parole, il y trouve aussitôt une occasion de chute.
yet he has no root in himself and he endures for a while. When tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, he quickly falls away.
22 Celui qui a reçu la semence parmi les épines, c'est celui qui entend la parole. Mais les soucis de ce monde et la séduction des richesses étouffent en lui cette parole, et elle devient infructueuse. (aiōn g165)
What was sown among the thorn plants, this is the person who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. (aiōn g165)
23 Celui qui a reçu la semence dans la bonne terre, c'est celui qui entend la parole, qui la comprend, et qui porte du fruit, en sorte qu'un grain en produit cent, un autre soixante, et un autre trente.
What was sown on the good soil, this is the person who hears the word and understands it. He bears fruit and makes a crop, some yielding one hundred times as much as was planted, some sixty, and some thirty times as much.”
24 Jésus leur proposa une autre parabole, en disant: Le royaume des cieux est semblable à un homme qui avait semé une bonne semence dans son champ.
Jesus presented another parable to them. He said, “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.
25 Mais pendant que les hommes dormaient, son ennemi vint, sema de l'ivraie parmi le froment, et s'en alla.
But while people slept, his enemy came and also sowed weeds among the wheat and then went away.
26 Après que la semence eut poussé et qu'elle eut produit du fruit, l'ivraie parut aussi.
When the blades sprouted and then produced their crop, then the weeds appeared also.
27 Alors les serviteurs du père de famille vinrent lui dire: Seigneur, n'avais-tu pas semé une bonne semence dans ton champ? D'où vient donc qu'il y a de l'ivraie?
The servants of the landowner came and said to him, 'Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How does it now have weeds?'
28 Et il leur dit: C'est un ennemi qui a fait cela! Ils lui répondirent: Veux-tu donc que nous allions l'arracher?
He said to them, 'An enemy has done this.' The servants said to him, 'So do you want us to go and pull them out?'
29 Il leur dit: Non, de peur qu'en arrachant l'ivraie, vous ne déraciniez en même temps le froment.
The landowner said, 'No. Because while you are pulling out the weeds, you might uproot the wheat with them.
30 Laissez-les croître tous deux ensemble jusqu'à la moisson; et au temps de la moisson, je dirai aux moissonneurs: Arrachez premièrement l'ivraie, et liez-la en gerbes pour la brûler; mais amassez le froment dans mon grenier.
Let both grow together until the harvest. At the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, “First pull out the weeds and tie them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”'”
31 Il leur proposa une autre parabole, en disant: Le royaume des cieux est semblable à un grain de moutarde, qu'un homme prend et qu'il sème dans son champ.
Then Jesus presented another parable to them. He said, “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed which a man took and sowed in his field.
32 — c'est bien la plus petite de toutes les semences. — mais quand le grain a poussé, il est plus grand que les légumes; il devient un arbre, en sorte que les oiseaux du ciel viennent faire leurs nids dans ses branches.
This seed is indeed the smallest of all seeds. But when it has grown, it is greater than the garden plants. It becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”
33 Il leur dit une autre parabole: Le royaume des cieux est semblable à du levain qu'une femme prend et qu'elle mêle à trois mesures de farine, pour faire lever toute la pâte.
Jesus then told them another parable. “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed with three measures of flour until all the dough had risen.”
34 Jésus dit toutes ces choses à la foule en paraboles, et il ne leur parlait point sans paraboles.
All these things Jesus said to the crowds in parables; and he said nothing to them without a parable.
35 Ainsi fut accompli ce qui avait été dit par le prophète: «J'ouvrirai ma bouche pour enseigner en paraboles; j'annoncerai des choses cachées depuis la création.»
This was in order that what had been said through the prophet might come true, when he said, “I will open my mouth in parables. I will say things that were hidden from the foundation of the world.”
36 Alors Jésus, ayant renvoyé la foule, entra dans la maison; et ses disciples s'approchèrent de lui et lui dirent: Explique-nous la parabole de l'ivraie dans le champ.
Then Jesus left the crowds and went into the house. His disciples came to him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field.”
37 Il leur répondit: Celui qui sème la bonne semence, c'est le Fils de l'homme;
Jesus answered and said, “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man.
38 le champ, c'est le monde; la bonne semence, ce sont les enfants du royaume; l'ivraie, ce sont les enfants du Malin;
The field is the world; and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one,
39 l'ennemi qui l'a semée, c'est le Diable; la moisson, c'est la fin du monde; les moissonneurs, ce sont les anges. (aiōn g165)
and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are angels. (aiōn g165)
40 Et comme on arrache l'ivraie et qu'on la brûle au feu, il en sera de même à la fin du monde. (aiōn g165)
Therefore, as the weeds are gathered up and burned with fire, so will it be at the end of the age. (aiōn g165)
41 Le Fils de l'homme enverra ses anges, qui feront disparaître de son royaume tous les scandales et ceux qui commettent l'iniquité,
The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all the things that cause sin and those who commit iniquity.
42 et ils les jetteront dans la fournaise ardente; c'est là qu'il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents.
They will throw them into the furnace of fire, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.
43 Alors les justes resplendiront comme le soleil dans le royaume de leur Père. Que celui qui a des oreilles entende!
Then will the righteous people shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him listen.
44 Le royaume des cieux est semblable à un trésor caché dans un champ, qu'un homme a trouvé et qu'il cache; puis, rempli de joie, il va vendre tout ce qu'il possède, et il achète le champ.
The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field. A man found it and hid it. In his joy he goes, sells everything he possesses, and buys that field.
45 Le royaume des cieux est encore semblable à un marchand qui cherche de belles perles,
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a man who is a merchant looking for valuable pearls.
46 et qui, ayant trouvé une perle d'un grand prix, s'en est allé, a vendu tout ce qu'il avait, et l'a achetée.
When he found one pearl of very great value, he went and sold everything that he possessed and bought it.
47 Le royaume des cieux est encore semblable à un filet qu'on jette dans la mer et qui ramasse toutes sortes de poissons.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was cast into the sea, and that gathered creatures of every kind.
48 Quand il est rempli, les pêcheurs le tirent sur le rivage; puis, s'étant assis, ils mettent à part, dans des paniers, ce qui est bon, et rejettent ce qui ne vaut rien.
When it was filled, the fishermen drew it up on the beach. Then they sat down and gathered the good things into containers, but the worthless things they threw away.
49 Il en sera de même à la fin du monde: et les anges viendront, et ils ôteront les méchants du milieu des justes. (aiōn g165)
It will be this way at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from among the righteous. (aiōn g165)
50 Puis il les jetteront dans la fournaise ardente: c'est là qu'il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents.
They will throw them into the furnace of fire, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.
51 Avez-vous compris toutes ces choses? Ils lui répondirent: Oui.
Have you understood all these things?” The disciples said to him, “Yes.”
52 Alors il leur dit: Ainsi tout scribe, bien instruit de tout ce qui concerne le royaume des cieux, est semblable à un père de famille qui tire de son trésor des choses nouvelles et des choses vieilles.
Then Jesus said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple to the kingdom of heaven is like a man who is the owner of a house, who draws out old and new things from his treasure.”
53 Or, il arriva, quand Jésus eut achevé ces paraboles, qu'il partit de là.
Then it came about that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed from that place.
54 Étant allé dans sa patrie, il enseignait dans la synagogue, de sorte que tous étaient saisis d'étonnement, et disaient: D'où viennent à cet homme cette sagesse et ces miracles?
Then Jesus entered his own region and taught the people in their synagogue. The result was that they were astonished and said, “Where does this man get his wisdom and these miracles from?
55 N'est-ce pas le fils du charpentier? Sa mère ne s'appelle-t-elle pas Marie, et ses frères, Jacques, Joseph, Simon et Jude?
Is not this man the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary? Are not his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?
56 Ses soeurs ne sont-elles pas toutes parmi nous? D'où lui viennent donc toutes ces choses?
Are not all his sisters with us? Where did he get all these things?”
57 Et il était pour eux une occasion de chute. Mais Jésus leur dit: Un prophète n'est méprisé que dans son pays et dans sa maison.
They were offended by him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own family.”
58 Et il ne fit pas là beaucoup de miracles, à cause de leur incrédulité.
He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.
