Marc 6
1 Jésus partit de là et retourna dans son pays; ses disciples le, suivirent.
And he went out from thence, and cometh into his own country; and his disciples follow him.
2 Le sabbat étant arrivé, il se mit à enseigner dans la synagogue. Et beaucoup parmi ses auditeurs étaient extrêmement surpris et disaient: «D'où lui viennent ces choses? Qu'est-ce donc que cette sagesse qui lui est donnée? et que ces grands miracles accomplis par ses mains?
And when the sabbath was come, he began to teach in the synagogue. And most people when they heard him were astonished, saying, Whence hath this man these things? And what is the wisdom which is given him? And how is it that such miracles are wrought by his hands?
3 N'est-ce pas là le charpentier, le fils de Marie, fière de Jacques, de Josès, de Judas, de Simon? Et ses soeurs ne demeurent-elles pas ici, avec nous?» Pour eux il était une occasion de chute.
Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, and Joses, and Judah, and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us? And they took offence at him.
4 Alors Jésus leur dit: «Un prophète n'est sans honneur que dans sa patrie, dans sa parenté, dans sa maison.»
And Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, and among his own kindred, and in his own house.
5 Et il ne put faire parmi eux aucun miracle, excepté quelques guérisons de malades par l'imposition des mains.
And he could not do any miracle there, except that he laid his hand upon a few sick persons, and cured them.
6 Il s'étonnait de leur incrédulité et parcourait, en enseignant, les villages d'alentour.
And he wondered at their want of faith. And he went about the surrounding villages teaching.
7 Ayant réuni les douze, il commença à les envoyer en mission, deux à deux, leur donnant puissance sur les Esprits impurs.
And he calleth to him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over the unclean spirits;
8 Il leur ordonna de ne rien emporter pour la route; un bâton seulement; ni pain, ni sac, ni monnaie quelconque dans la ceinture;
and commanded them that they should take nothing for the way but a staff only; no bread, no bag, no money in their girdle;
9 pour toutes chaussures, leurs sandales, et de ne pas prendre de second vêtement.
but to be shod with sandals; and, Do not put on two coats.
10 Et il leur disait: «En quelque maison que vous entriez, demeurez-y jusqu'à ce que vous partiez de l'endroit;
And he said to them, Wherever ye enter a house, there abide fill ye leave that place.
11 et si quelque part on ne vous reçoit ni ne vous écoute, sortez de là, secouant, en témoignage contre eux, la poussière attachée à vos pieds.»
And whatever place shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye go thence, shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony to them.
12 Ils partirent donc, prêchant qu'on devait se repentira;
And they went out and preached that men should repent;
13 et ils chassaient beaucoup de démons et, faisant des onctions d'huile à beaucoup de malades, ils les guérissaient.
and they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many sick persons, and healed them.
14 Le roi Hérode l'apprit; (en effet, le nom de Jésus était déjà célèbre) et il dit: «Jean-Baptiste est ressuscité d'entre les morts! de là ces puissances miraculeuses qui agissent en cet homme!»
And king Herod heard of him (for his name was spread abroad), and he said, John the Baptizer hath risen from the dead, and therefore do these powers work in him. But others said, It is Elijah.
15 Les uns disaient: «C'est Élie!» d'autres: «C'est un prophète semblable à l'un de ceux d'autrefois!»
And others said, It is a prophet, as one of the prophets.
16 Mais Hérode, qui entendait tout cela, disait: «C'est celui que j'ai décapité! c'est Jean! c'est lui qui est ressuscité!»
But Herod hearing of it said, John, whom I beheaded, hath risen again.
17 En effet, cet Hérode avait fait arrêter Jean, l'avait fait garrotter et emprisonner: et cela à cause d'Hérodiade, la femme de son frère Philippe, que lui, Hérode, avait épousée.
For Herod himself had sent forth and seized John, and bound him in prison, on account of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife; for he had married her.
18 Car Jean lui avait dit: «Il ne t'est pas permis d'avoir la femme de ton frère.»
For John had said to Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife.
19 De sorte qu'Hérodiade était acharnée à sa perte; elle voulait sa mort; cependant elle ne pouvait l'obtenir,
And Herodias was enraged against him, and wished to put him to death, but could not.
20 parce qu'Hérode avait du respect pour Jean qu'il savait être un juste et un saint; il veillait sur lui; sur plusieurs points sa parole l'inquiétait, et volontiers il l'écoutait.
For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and was regardful of him; and on hearing him, was in much anxiety, and listened to him gladly.
21 Mais Hérodiade rencontra un jour opportun; ce fut lorsque Hérode, à l'anniversaire de sa naissance, donna un banquet à ses dignitaires, à ses officiers et aux principaux personnages de la Galilée.
And a convenient day having come, when Herod on his birthday made a supper for his nobles and chief captains and the principal men of Galilee,
22 Dans la salle entra la fille même d'Hérodiade, et elle, dansa et plut à Hérode et à ses convives. Le roi dit alors à la jeune fille: «Demande-moi ce que tu voudras et je te le donnerai.»
and the daughter of Herodias came in and danced, she pleased Herod and those at table with him; and the king said to the damsel, Ask of me whatever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.
23 Il lui en fit le serment: «Tout ce que tu demanderas, je te le donnerai, fût-ce la moitié de mon royaume!»
And he swore to her, Whatever thou shalt ask of me, I will give thee, to the half of my kingdom.
24 La jeune fille sortit et dit à sa mère: «Que demanderai-je?» La mère répondit: «La tête de Jean-Baptiste.»
And she went out and said to her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptizer.
25 Rentrant en toute hâte auprès du roi, la fille, lui fit ainsi sa demande: «Je veux qu'à l'instant même tu me donnes sur un plat la tête de Jean-Baptiste.»
And she came in immediately with haste to the king, and asked, saying, I desire that thou wilt give me immediately on a platter the head of John the Baptist.
26 Le roi fut accablé de tristesse; cependant, à cause de son serment, à cause aussi des convives, il ne voulut pas la refuser.
And the king was exceedingly sorry; but on account of his oaths, and of those at table with him, he would not refuse her.
27 Et immédiatement il fit appeler un exécuteur et lui donna ordre de rapporter la tête de Jean.
And the king immediately sent one of his guards, and ordered his head to be brought. And he went and beheaded him in the prison,
28 Cet homme alla donc décapiter Jean dans sa prison, et, rapportant la tête sur un plat, il la donna à la jeune fille, et la jeune fille la donna à sa mère.
and brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the damsel; and the damsel gave it to her mother.
29 Ce qu'ayant appris, les disciples de Jean vinrent prendre son corps et l’ensevelirent dans un tombeau.
And his disciples, when they heard of it, came and took up his body, and laid it in a tomb.
30 De retour auprès de Jésus, les apôtres lui rendirent compte de tout: de ce qu'ils avaient fait et de ce qu'ils avaient enseigné.
And the apostles gather together to Jesus, and told him all which they had done and taught.
31 Il leur dit alors: «Venez à l'écart, vous aussi, dans quelque endroit solitaire et reposez-vous un peu.» (En effet, il y avait une telle foule d'allants et de venants qu'ils n'avaient pas même le temps de manger.)
And he saith to them, Come ye by yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while. For there were many coming and going; and they had no leisure, even to eat.
32 Ils partirent donc dans la barque pour se retirer dans quelque endroit solitaire, à l'écart.
And they went away into a desert place in the boat apart.
33 Mais plusieurs les virent s'éloigner et les reconnurent, et de toutes les villes ils accoururent à pied là où ils allaient et y arrivèrent avant eux.
And many saw them departing, and knew them, and ran together on foot thither from all the cities, and arrived before them.
34 En débarquant, il vit une foule immense; il en eut compassion, parce qu'ils étaient comme des brebis sans berger, et il se mit à leur donner de nombreux enseignements.
And when he came forth, he saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion for them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.
35 L'heure s'avançait beaucoup et ses disciples, s'approchant, lui dirent: «L'endroit est désert et déjà il se fait tard.
And late in the day his disciples came to him, and said, This is a desert place, and it is now late;
36 Renvoie-les, afin qu'ils aillent aux environs dans les maisons de la campagne et dans les villages acheter chacun quelque chose à manger.»
send them away, that they may go into the surrounding fields and villages, and buy themselves something to eat.
37 Mais Jésus leur répondit: «Donnez-leur vous-mêmes à manger.» «Pour leur donner à manger, répliquèrent-ils, nous faudra-t-il aller acheter des pains pour deux cents deniers!»
But he answering said to them, Give ye them to eat. And they say to him, Shall we go and buy two hundred denaries' worth of bread, and give them to eat?
38 Jésus reprit: «Combien de pain avez vous? Allez voir.» Après s'en être informés: «Cinq, dirent-ils, et deux poissons.»
He saith to them, How many loaves have ye? Go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.
39 Alors il leur commanda de les faire tous asseoir, en divers groupes, sur l'herbe verte.
And he ordered them to make all lie down in companies upon the green grass.
40 Ils se rangèrent à terre par bandes de cent et de cinquante.
And they lay down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties.
41 Puis Jésus, prenant les cinq pains et les deux poissons, leva les yeux au ciel, prononça la bénédiction, rompit les pains et les donna aux disciples pour qu'ils les servissent à la foule; il partagea aussi, entre tous, les deux poissons.
And taking the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven and blessed, and broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples to set before them; and the two fishes he divided among them all.
42 Tous mangèrent, tous furent rassasiés,
And they all ate, and were filled.
43 et on emporta douze paniers pleins de restes de pain et de poissons.
And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.
44 Quant au nombre de ceux qui avaient mangé, il était de cinq mille hommes.
And they who ate of the loaves were five thousand men.
45 Aussitôt après, il pressa ses disciples de remonter dans la barque, de prendre les devants et de se rendre, sur la rive opposée, à Bethsaïda, tandis que lui, il renverrait la foule.
And he immediately constrained his disciples to get into the boat, and to go before to the other side to Bethsaida, while he sent the multitude away.
46 Quand il l'eut congédiée, il s'en alla sur la montagne, pour y prier.
And when he had taken leave of them, he went away into the mountain to pray.
47 Le soir vint au milieu de la mer était la barque; à terre, Jésus, demeuré seul.
And when evening came, the boat was in the midst of the lake; and he was alone on the land.
48 Les voyant qui se fatiguaient à ramer, car le vent leur était contraire, il vint à eux, vers la quatrième veille de la nuit, en marchant sur la mer, et il voulait les dépasser;
And when he saw them toiling hard in rowing, for the wind was against them, about the fourth watch of the night he cometh to them, walking upon the lake. And he would have passed by them;
49 quand ils le virent, marchant sur la mer, ils crurent que c'était un fantôme et jetèrent des cris.
but they, seeing him walking upon the lake, thought it was a spectre, and cried out.
50 Tous, en effet, le voyaient et étaient bouleversés. Mais aussitôt il leur parla; il leur dit: «Rassurez-vous; c'est moi; soyez sans crainte.»
For they all saw him, and were terrified. But he immediately spoke with them, and saith to them, Be of good cheer; it is I, be not afraid.
51 Il monta avec eux dans la barque et le vent cessa. Leur stupeur allait grandissant;
And he went up to them into the boat, and the wind ceased. And they were exceedingly astonished, beyond measure.
52 car ils n'avaient pas même compris le, miracle des pains, tellement leur coeur était aveuglé.
For they did not consider the matter of the loaves; but their heart was hardened.
53 Ayant passé l'eau, ils arrivèrent au pays de Gennésaret, et ils abordèrent.
And crossing over, they came to land, to Gennesaret; and anchored there.
54 A leur sortie de la barque, Jésus fut immédiatement reconnu.
And when they had come out of the boat, the people immediately knowing who he was,
55 Alors toute la contrée fut en mouvement; on se mit à lui apporter les malades sur leurs grabats, partout où l'on apprenait sa présence.
ran through all that region, and began to carry about on beds those that were sick to the place where they heard he was.
56 Et partout où il entrait, villages, villes ou bourgades, on déposait les malades sur les places publiques, et on le priait de les laisser seulement toucher la frange de son vêtement; et tous ceux qui la touchaient étaient guéris.
And wherever he entered into villages or cities or the open country, they laid the sick in the market-places, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the fringe of his garment; and as many as touched him were made well.
