Luc 6
1 Il arriva — un jour de sabbat — que Jésus passa par des blés; ses disciples cueillaient les épis et, les froissant dans leurs mains, en mangeaient les grains.
Now it came to pass for him to be going through the grain fields on a particular sabbath, and his disciples were plucking the ears and were eating, rubbing them in their hands.
2 «Pourquoi faites-vous, dirent quelques-uns des Pharisiens, ce qu'au jour du sabbat il n'est pas permis de faire?»
But some of the Pharisees said to them, Why do ye what is not permitted to do on the sabbath day?
3 Jésus leur répondit par ces paroles: «N'avez-vous pas lu ce que fit David quand il eut faim et ce que firent ses compagnons?
And having answered them, Jesus said, Have ye not read even this, what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him,
4 Comment il entra dans la maison de Dieu, prit les pains de proposition, en mangea et en donna à ceux qui étaient avec lui, quand il n'est permis qu'aux prêtres seuls d'en manger?» —
how he entered into the house of God, and took and ate the loaves of the presentation, and also gave to those who were with him, which is not permitted to eat, except the priests alone?
5 «Le Fils de l'homme, ajouta-t-il, est maître aussi du sabbat.»
And he said to them, The Son of man is lord also of the sabbath.
6 Un autre jour de sabbat, il entra dans la synagogue et il y enseigna. Il s'y trouvait un homme dont la main droite était paralysée.
And it also came to pass on another sabbath for him to enter into the synagogue and teach. And a man was there, and his right hand was withered.
7 Les Scribes et les Pharisiens l'observaient pour voir si, un jour de sabbat, il le guérirait, et pour tirer de là quelque prétexte à accusation.
And the scholars and the Pharisees watched if he would heal on the sabbath, so that they might find an accusation against him.
8 Quant à lui, il connaissait leurs pensées. «Lève-toi, dit-il, à l'homme dont la main était paralysée, et tiens-toi debout au milieu de nous tous! L'homme se leva et se tint debout.
But he knew their thoughts, and he said to the man who had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And having risen, he stood up.
9 «Je vous le demande, leur dit alors Jésus, est-il permis aux jours de sabbat de faire le bien ou de faire le mal? de sauver une vie ou de la perdre?»
Then Jesus said to them, I will question you. What? Is it permitted on the sabbath to do good, or to do harm, to save life, or to kill?
10 Ayant sur eux tous promené son regard, il dit à l'homme: «Étends ta main.»
And having looked around on them all, he said to him, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did, and his hand was restored whole as the other.
11 Il le fit et sa main fut guérie. Quant à eux, ils étaient fous de rage, et ils parlaient entre eux de ce qu'ils pourraient bien faire à Jésus.
But they were filled with fury, and deliberated with each other what they might do to Jesus.
12 En ces jours-là, il se retira sur la montagne pour prier et passa la nuit à prier Dieu.
And he happened in these days to go out onto the mountain to pray, and he was continuing all night in prayer to God.
13 Quand il fit jour, il convoqua ses disciples; et il choisit douze d'entre eux, auxquels il donna le nom d'apôtres;
And when it became day, he called his disciples, and chose twelve from them, whom he also named apostles:
14 ce furent Simon, qu'il nomma Pierre, et André son frère; — Jacques et Jean; — Philippe et Barthélemi; —
Simon, whom he also named Peter, and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,
15 Matthieu et Thomas; — Jacques, fils d'Alphée, et Simon (celui qu'on appelle le zélateur);
Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot,
16 Judas, frère de Jacques, et Judas l'Iskariôte, qui fut un traître.
Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot who also became a traitor.
17 Descendant de la montagne, avec eux, il s'arrêta sur un terrain uni. Là se trouvait, avec une foule considérable de ses disciples, une multitude immense de peuple, venue pour l'entendre et se faire guérir de ses maux, de toute la Judée, de Jérusalem et du littoral de Tyr et de Sidon.
And having come down with them, he stood on a level place. And a company of his disciples, and a large number of the people from all Judea and Jerusalem, and the maritime Tyre and Sidon, were those who came to hear him, and to be healed from their diseases,
18 Ceux qui étaient tourmentés par des Esprits impurs en étaient délivrés
also those who were afflicted with unclean spirits. And they were healed.
19 et chacun dans la foule cherchait à le toucher, parce qu'il sortait de lui une vertu qui les guérissait tous.
And all the multitude sought to touch him, because power came forth from him, and healed them all.
20 Jésus, levant les yeux sur ses disciples, dit: «Heureux êtes-vous, ô pauvres, parce qu'à vous appartient le Royaume de Dieu!»
And having lifted up his eyes on his disciples, he said, Blessed are the poor, because the kingdom of God is what belongs to you.
21 «Heureux, ô vous qui avez faim maintenant, parce que vous serez rassasiés!» «Heureux, ô vous qui pleurez maintenant, parce que vous rirez!»
Blessed are those who hunger now, because ye will be filled. Blessed are those who weep now, because ye will laugh.
22 «Heureux serez-vous lorsque les hommes vous haïront, vous réprouveront, vous outrageront, proscriront votre nom comme maudit à cause du Fils de l’homme!
Blessed are ye, when men will hate you, and when they will exclude you, and revile you, and cast out your name as evil, because of the Son of man.
23 En ce jour-là réjouissez-vous et sautez de joie! parce que votre récompense sera grande dans le ciel; car c'est de même façon que leurs pères traitaient les prophètes.»
Rejoice ye in that day, and leap, for behold, your reward is great in heaven, for their fathers did in the same way to the prophets.
24 «Malheur à vous cependant, riches, parce que vous avez aujourd'hui votre consolation!»
However, woe to you the rich, because ye have received your consolation.
25 «Malheur à vous qui maintenant avez tout à satiété, parce que vous aurez faim!» «Malheur à vous qui maintenant riez, parce que vous tomberez dans le deuil et les larmes!»
Woe to you who are filled now, because ye will hunger. Woe to you who laugh now, because ye will mourn and weep.
26 «Malheur! lorsque tous les hommes diront du bien de vous, car c'est de même façon que leurs pères traitaient les faux prophètes!»
Woe when men will speak well of you, for their fathers did in the same way to the false prophets.
27 «Quant à vous qui m'écoutez, voici ce que je vous dis: Aimez vos ennemis; faites du bien à ceux qui vous haïssent;
But I say to you, to those who hear, love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you.
28 bénissez ceux qui vous maudissent; priez pour ceux qui vous font injure.
Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who mistreat you.
29 Si quelqu'un te frappe sur une joue, présente-lui aussi l'autre; et contre celui qui t'enlève ton manteau ne défends pas même ta tunique.»
To him who strikes thee on the cheek offer the other also, and from him who takes away thy cloak, also do not withhold thy coat.
30 «A qui te demande, donne; et à qui s'empare de ce qui est à toi, ne réclame rien.»
Give to every man who asks thee, and from him who takes away thy personal things do not demand them back.
31 «Comme vous voulez que les hommes agissent envers vous, agissez vous-mêmes pareillement envers eux.
And as ye desire that men would do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
32 Si vous aimez ceux qui vous aiment, quel gré vous en saura-t-on? les pécheurs aussi aiment ceux qui les aiment.
And if ye love those who love you, what credit is for you? For even sinners love those who love them.
33 Et si vous faites du bien à ceux qui vous en font à vous-mêmes, quel gré vous en saura-t-on? Les pécheurs le font aussi.
And if ye do good to those who do good to you, what credit is for you? For even sinners do the same.
34 Et si vous prêtez à ceux dont vous espérez recevoir quelque chose, quel gré vous en saura-t-on? Les pécheurs aussi font des prêts aux pécheurs pour recevoir un jour le même service.
And if ye lend to whom ye hope to receive, what credit is for you? For even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much again.
35 Vous cependant aimez vos ennemis; faites du bien et prêtez sans espérer quoi que ce soit. Et votre récompense sera grande et vous serez fils du Très-Haut, parce qu'il est bon pour les ingrats et pour les méchants.»
But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, despairing nothing, and your reward will be great. And ye will be sons of the Most High, because he is good toward the ungrateful and bad.
36 «Soyez miséricordieux, comme votre Père est miséricordieux.
Become ye therefore merciful, even as your Father is merciful.
37 Ne jugez point et vous ne serez point jugés; ne condamnez point et vous ne serez point condamnés. Pardonnez, et il vous sera pardonné.
And do not criticize, and ye will, no, not be criticized. And do not condemn, and ye will, no, not be condemned. Forgive, and ye will be forgiven.
38 Donnez, et il vous sera donné; il sera versé dans votre sein une bonne mesure, pressée, tassée, débordante, car la mesure que vous faites aux autres sera votre mesure.»
Give, and it will be given to you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, they will give into your bosom. For with the same measure with which ye measure, it will be measured again to you.
39 Il leur dit aussi une parabole: «Un aveugle peut-il conduire un aveugle? Ne tomberont-ils pas tous deux dans une fosse?»
And he spoke a parable to them. Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a ditch?
40 «Le disciple n'est pas au-dessus du maître; il sera parfait quand il sera pareil à son maître.»
A disciple is not above his teacher, but every disciple who is fully developed will be as his teacher.
41 «Pourquoi regardes-tu la paille qui est dans l'oeil de ton frère? Et la poutre qui est dans ton oeil à toi, tu ne la remarques pas!
And why do thou see the speck in thy brother's eye, but do not perceive the beam in thine own eye?
42 Comment peux-tu dire à ton frère: «Mon frère, laisse-moi ôter cette paille qui est dans ton oeil», ne voyant pas toi-même la poutre qui est dans le tien? Hypocrite, ôte d'abord de ton oeil la poutre et alors tu verras à ôter la paille de l'oeil de ton frère!»
Or how can thou say to thy brother, Brother, allow me to take out the speck that is in thine eye, when thou thyself do not see the beam in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first take out the beam from thine own eye, and then thou will see clearly to take out the speck in thy brother's eye.
43 «Un arbre qui produit de mauvais fruits n'est pas bon; à l'inverse, un arbre qui produit de bons fruits n'est pas mauvais;
For a good tree is not producing corrupt fruit, nor a corrupt tree producing good fruit.
44 car c'est par son fruit que chaque arbre se fait connaître. Sur des épines on ne cueille pas de figues; sur des ronces on ne vendange pas de raisin.»
For each tree is known from its own fruit. For they do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they harvest grapes from a bramble bush.
45 «Du bon trésor de son coeur l'homme bon tire le bien; de son mauvais trésor l'homme mauvais tire le mal; car c'est de l'abondance du coeur que la bouche parle.»
The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth the good, and the bad man out of the bad treasure of his heart brings forth the bad, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
46 «Pourquoi m'appelez-vous: «Seigneur! Seigneur!» et ne faites-vous pas ce que je dis?
And why do ye call me, Lord, Lord, and not do the things that I say?
47 Quiconque vient à moi, entendant mes paroles et les mettant en pratique, je vais vous montrer à qui il ressemble.
Every man who comes to me, and hears my sayings, and does them, I will show you to whom he is like.
48 Il ressemble à un homme qui, en construisant une maison, a creusé très avant et a établi ses fondations sur le roc. L'inondation est survenue; le torrent a fait irruption sur cette maison et il n'a pas eu la force de l'ébranler, parce qu'elle était bien construite.»
He is like a man who builds a house, who dug and excavated, and laid a foundation upon the rock. And when a flood developed, the stream beat upon that house, and could not shake it, for it had been founded upon the rock.
49 «Quant à celui qui entend et ne met pas en pratique, il ressemble à un homme qui a bâti sa maison sur la terre sans fondations. Sur elle le torrent a fait irruption; soudain elle s'est écroulée; et la ruine de cette maison a été grande.
But he who heard, and not having done, is like a man who built a house upon the soil without a foundation, on which the stream beat, and straightaway it fell. And the ruin of that house became great.
