Luc 3
1 En l'an quinze du règne de Tibère César, — Ponce-Pilate étant procurateur de la Judée, — Hérode, tétrarque de la Galilée, —Philippe, son frère, tétrarque de l'Iturée et des terres de la Trachonite, — Lysanias, tétrarque de l'Abilène, —
In the fiftenthe yeare of the raygne of Tiberius the Emperoure Pontius Pylate beinge leftenaut of Iurie and Herode beinge Tetrach of Galile and his brother Philip Tetrach in Iturea and in the region of Traconites and Lysanias the Tetrach of Abyline
2 sous le pontificat de Banne et de Kaïphe, la parole de Dieu fut adressée à Jean, fils de Zaccharie, dans le désert.
when Anna and Cayphas were the hye prestes: the worde of God came vnto Iohn ye sonne of zacharias in the wildernes.
3 Et Jean s'en alla dans toute la région du Jourdain, prêchant un baptême de repentance pour la rémission des péchés,
And he came in to all the coostes aboute Iordan preachynge the baptyme of repentaunce for the remission of synnes
4 ainsi que cela est écrit au livre des paroles du prophète Ésaïe: «Une voix crie dans le désert: Préparez la voie du Seigneur, Aplanissez ses sentiers;
at it is written in the boke of the sayinges of Esaias ye Prophet which sayeth: The voyce of a cryar in wyldernes prepare the waye of the Lorde make hys pathes strayght.
5 Toute vallée sera comblée; Toute montagne et toute colline seront abaissées; Les voies tortueuses seront changées en droits chemins; Et les voies rocailleuses en routes unies;
Every valley shalbe fylled and every moutayne and hyll shalbe brought lowe. And crocked thinges shalbe made streight: and the rough wayes shalbe made smoth:
6 Et toute chair verra le salut de Dieu»
and all flesshe shall se the saveour sent of God.
7 Aux foules qui accouraient pour être baptisées par lui, il disait: «Engeance de vipères, qui vous a appris à fuir la colère à venir?
Then sayde he to the people that were come to be baptysed of him: O generacion of vipers who hath taught you to flye from the wrath to come?
8 Produisez donc des fruits dignes de la repentance, et n'allez pas dire en vous-mêmes: Nous avons pour père Abraham; car je vous le dis, Dieu peut faire surgir, des pierres que voici, des enfants à Abraham.
Bringe forth due frutes of repentaunce and begynne not to saye in youre selves we have Abraham to oure father. For I saye vnto you: God is able of these stones to reyse vp chyldren vnto Abraham.
9 Déjà la cognée touche la racine des arbres. Tout arbre donc qui ne produit pas de bon fruit, sera coupé et jeté au feu.» —
Now also ys the axe leyd vnto the rote of the trees: so yt every tree which bringeth not forth good frute shalbe hewe doune and caste in to ye fyre.
10 «Qu'avons-nous à faire?» lui demandèrent alors les multitudes.
And the people axed him sayinge: What shall we do then?
11 Il leur répondit par ces paroles: «Que celui qui possède deux tuniques en donne une à celui qui n'en a pas et que celui qui a des aliments pour se nourrir fasse de même.»
He answered and sayde vnto them: He that hath two coottes let him parte with him that hath none: and he that hath meate let him do lyke wyse.
12 Des publicains vinrent pour être baptisés et lui dirent aussi: «Maître, qu'avons-nous à faire?» —
Then came ther Publicans to be baptised and sayde vnto him: Master what shall we do?
13 «N'exigez rien de plus, leur répondit-il, que ce qui vous a été prescrit.»
And he sayde vnto the: requyre no more then that which ys appoynted vnto you.
14 Des soldats aussi le questionnèrent: «Et nous, qu'avons-nous à faire?» A eux il dit: «Ne faites violence à personne; ne faites tort à personne; contentez-vous de votre paye.»
The soudyoures lyke wyse demaunded of hym sayinge: and what shall we do? And he sayde to them: Do violence to noo ma: nether trouble eny man wrongfully: but be content with youre wages.
15 Le peuple était en suspens; et chacun se demandait, dans le secret de son coeur, si Jean n'était pas peut-être le Christ.
As the people were in a doute and all men disputed in their hertes of Iohn whether he were very Christ:
16 Pour répondre à tous, Jean dit: «Moi, je vous baptise d'eau; mais il va venir celui qui est plus puissant que moi; je ne suis pas même digne de délier la courroie de ses sandales; lui, vous baptisera avec l'Esprit saint et le feu.
Ihon answered and sayde to them all: I baptyse you wt water but a stronger then I cometh after me whose shue latchet I am not worthy to vnlouse: he will baptise you with the holy goost and with fyre:
17 Il a le van dans la main pour nettoyer son aire et rassembler le froment dans son grenier; mais la paille il la brûlera au feu inextinguible.»
which hath his fanne in his hond and will pourge his floore and will gader the corne into his barne: but the chaffe wyll he bourne with fyre that never shalbe quenched.
18 C'est ainsi qu'il annonçait la Bonne Nouvelle au peuples par des exhortations nombreuses et variées.
And many other thinges in his exhortacion preached he vnto the people.
19 Le tétrarque Hérode, cependant, ayant été repris par lui tant au sujet d'Hérodiade, femme de son frère, qu'au sujet des mille crimes qu'il avait commis,
Then Herode the Tetrach (when he was rebuked of him for Herodias his brother Philippes wyfe and for all the evyls which Herod had done)
20 ajouta encore celui-ci à tous les autres: il fit jeter Jean en prison.
added this above all and leyd Iohn in preson.
21 Or tout le peuple ayant reçu le baptême, et Jésus aussi ayant été baptisé, il advint que le ciel s'ouvrit, pendant qu'il priait,
And yt fortuned as all the people receaved baptyme (and when Iesus was baptised and dyd praye) that heave was opened
22 et que l'Esprit saint descendit sur lui sous une forme corporelle, sous la figure d'une colombe; et une voix vint du ciel: «Tu es mon Fils bien-aimé, en toi je me complais.»
and the holy goost came doune in a bodely shape lyke a dove vpo him and a voyce came fro heve sayinge: Thou arte my dere sonne in the do I delyte.
23 Jésus, en ce commencement, avait environ trente ans et passait pour être le fils de Joseph, Fils d'Héli,
And Iesus him silfe was about thirty yere of age when he begane beinge as men supposed the sonne of Ioseph. which Ioseph was the sonne of Heli
24 Fils de Maththath, Fils de Lévi, Fils de Melchi, Fils de Jannaï, Fils de Joseph,
which was the sonne of Mathat which was the sonne of Levi: which was the sonne of Melchi: which was the sonne of Ianna: which was the sonne of Ioseph:
25 Fils de Mattathias, Fils d'Amos, Fils de Naoum, Fils d'Eslei, Fils de Nangaï,
which was the sonne of Matatthias: which was the sonne of Amos: which was the sonne of Nahum: which was the sonne of Esli: which was the sonne of Nagge:
26 Fils de Maath, Fils de Mattathias, Fils de Semeein, Fils de Josech, Fils de Joda,
which was the sonne of Maath: which was the sonne of Matathias: which was the sonne of Semei: which was the sonne of Ioseph: which was the sonne of Iuda:
27 Fils de Joanan, Fils de Rèsa, Fils de Zorobabel, Fils de Salathiel, Fils de Nèrei,
which was the sonne of Iohanna: which was the sonne of Rhesya: which was the sonne of zorobabel: which was the sonne of Salathiel: which was the sonne of Neri:
28 Fils de Melchei, Fils d'Addei, Fils de Kosam, Fils de Elmadam, Fils de Hèr,
which was the sonne of Melchi: which was the sonne of Addi: which was the sonne of Cosam: which was the sonne of Helmadam: which was the sonne of Her:
29 Fils de Jésus, Fils d'Éliézer, Fils de Jorem, Fils de Maththath, Fils de Lévi,
which was the sonne of Ieso: which was the sonne of Helieser: which was the sonne of Ioram: which was the sonne of Mattha: which was the sonne of Levi:
30 Fils de Siméon, Fils de Judas, Fils de Joseph, Fils de Jonam, Fils d'Éliakim, Fils de Méléa,
which was the sonne of Simeon: which was the sonne of Iuda: which was the sonne of Ioseph: which was the sonne of Ionam: which was the sonne of Heliachim:
31 Fils de Menna, Fils de Mattatha, Fils de Natham, Fils de David,
which was the sonne of Melea: which was the sonne of Menam: which was the sonne of Mathathan: which was the sonne of Nathan: which was the sonne of David:
32 Fils de Jessaï, Fils de Jobed, Fils de Boos, Fils de Sala, Fils de Naasson,
which was the sonne of Iesse: which was the sonne of Obed: which was the sonne of Boos: which was the sonne of Salmon: which was the sonne of Naason:
33 Fils d'Aminadab, Fils d'Admein, Fils d'Ami, Fils d'Esrom, Fils de Pharès, Fils de Judas,
which was the sonne of Aminadab: which was the sonne of Aram: which was the sonne of Esrom: which was the sonne of Phares: which was the sonne of Iuda:
34 Fils de Jacob, Fils d'Isaac, Fils d'Abraham, Fils de Unira, Fils de Nachor, Fils de Serouch,
which was the sonne of Iacob: which was the sonne of Ysaac: which was the sonne of Abraham: which was the sonne of Tharra: which was the sonne of Nachor:
35 Fils de Ragau, Fils de Phalek, Fils de Eber, Fils de Sala,
which was the sonne of Saruch: which was the sonne of Ragau: which was the sonne of Phalec: which was the sonne of Heber: which was the sonne of Sala:
36 Fils de Kainam, Fils d'Arphaxad, Fils de Sein, Fils de Noé, Fils de Lamech,
which was the sonne of Cainan: which was the sonne of Arphaxat: which was the sonne of Sem: which was the sonne of Noe: which was the sonne of Lameth:
37 Fils de Mathousalem. Fils d'Enoch, Fils de Jaret, Fils de Meleleèl, Fils de Kainam
which was the sonne of Mathusala: which was the sonne of Enoch: which was the sonne of Iareth: which was the sonne of Malalehel. which was the sonne of Cainan:
38 Fils d'Enos, Fils de Seth, Fils d'Adam, Fils de Dieu.
which was the sonne of Enos: which was the sonne of Seth: which was the sonne of Adam: which was the sonne of God.
