Luc 16
1 Il disait aussi aux disciples: «Un homme riche avait un économe; cet économe lui fut dénoncé comme dissipant ses biens.
And he spoke a parable to his disciples. There was a certain rich man, who had a steward; and accusations were brought to him of him, that he squandered his property.
2 Il l'appela et lui dit: «Qu'est-ce que j'entends dire de toi? Rends compte de ton administration; car il n'est plus possible que tu administres désormais.» —
And his lord called him, and said to him: What is this that I hear of thee? Render to me an account of thy stewardship; for thou canst no longer be my steward.
3 «Que ferai-je?» se dit en lui-même l'économe, «puisque mon maître me retire la gestion de ses biens. Travailler la terre, je n'en ai pas la force; mendier, j'en aurais honte.
And the steward said with himself: What shall I do, since my lord is about to take from me the stewardship? To dig, I am unable; and to become a beggar, I am ashamed.
4 Je vois ce que je ferai pour que, destitué de mes fonctions, il se trouve des gens qui me reçoivent dans leurs maisons.»
I know what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me to their houses.
5 Il convoqua l'un après l'autre chacun des débiteurs de son maître.»«Au premier il dit: «Combien dois-tu à mon maître?»
And he called each one of his lord's debtors; and he said to the first, How much owest thou to my lord?
6 «Cent mesures d'huile», — «Voici ton billet, reprit l'économe, assieds-toi vite et écris: «cinquante».
And he said to him, One hundred measures of oil. And he said to him: Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write Fifty measures.
7 Ensuite il dit à un autre: «Et toi, combien dois-tu?» Celui-là répondit: «Cent mesures de froment.» «Voici ton billet, reprit encore l'économe, et écris: «quatre-vingts».
And he said to another: And how much owest thou to my lord? And he said to him, One hundred cors of wheat. And he said to him: Take thy bill, and sit down, and write Eighty cors.
8 «Le maître loua l'économe infidèle de ce qu'il avait agi avec, habileté; parce que les enfants de ce siècle sont, dans leur monde, plus avisés que les enfants de la lumière. (aiōn g165)
And our Lord praised the unrighteous steward, for having acted sagaciously: for the children of this world are more sagacious than the children of light, in this their generation. (aiōn g165)
9 Et moi, je vous dis: Du Mamôn de l'iniquité faites-vous des amis qui, lorsqu'il viendra à manquer, vous reçoivent dans les éternels tabernacles. (aiōnios g166)
And I also say to you: Make to yourselves friends, with this unrighteous mammon; so that when it is finished, they may receive you to their everlasting tabernacles. (aiōnios g166)
10 Qui est fidèle dans une très petite chose, l'est également dans une grande; qui est injuste dans une très petite chose, l'est également dans une grande.
He that is faithful in the little, is also faithful in the much; and he that is unjust in the little, is also unjust in the much.
11 Si donc vous n'avez pas été fidèles dans le Mamôn injuste, qui vous confiera le véritable?
If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will intrust to you the reality?
12 Et si vous n'avez pas été fidèles dans le bien d'un autre, qui vous donnera ce qui est à vous?»
And if ye have not been found faithful in that which is not yours, who will give to you that which is yours?
13 «Aucun domestique ne peut servir deux maîtres; ou bien, en effet, il haïra l'un et aimera l'autre; ou bien il s'attachera au premier et méprisera le second. Vous ne pouvez servir Dieu et Mamôn.»
There is no servant, who can serve two lords. For, either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will honor the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
14 Les Pharisiens qui aiment l'argent entendaient tout cela et tournaient Jésus en dérision.
And the Pharisees, when they heard all these things, because they loved money, derided him.
15 «Vous, leur dit-il, vous voulez vous faire passer pour justes devant les hommes, mais Dieu connaît vos coeurs. Ce qui, d'après les hommes, est élevé, est, devant Dieu, une abomination.»
And Jesus said to them: Ye are such as justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your heart: for that which is exalted among men, is abominable before God.
16 «Jusques à Jean, la Loi et les Prophètes; depuis, l'Évangile du Royaume de Dieu est annoncé et tous s'efforcent de s'en emparer.»
The law and the prophets were until John: since then, the kingdom of God is proclaimed, and every one presseth it to enter in.
17 «Plus facilement passeront le ciel et la terre que ne tombera un seul petit trait de la Loi.»
And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one letter to pass from the law.
18 «Quiconque répudie sa femme et en épouse une autre commet un adultère; et celui qui épouse une femme répudiée par son mari commet un adultère.»
Whoever putteth away his wife, and taketh another, committeth adultery; and whoever taketh her that is put away, committeth adultery.
19 «Il y avait un riche qui était vêtu de pourpre et de lin, et qui menait tous les jours joyeuse et splendide vie.
And there was a certain rich man, who was clothed in fine linen and scarlet, and passed every day in splendid luxury.
20 Un pauvre nommé Lazare gisait à sa porte, couvert d'ulcères.
And there was a certain poor man, whose name was Lazarus; and he was laid at the gate of the rich man, smitten with ulcers.
21 Il aurait bien voulu se rassasier de ce qui tombait de la table du riche; mais les chiens eux-mêmes venaient lécher ses ulcères.
And he desired to fill his belly with the fragments that fell from the rich man's table: and the dogs also came and licked his ulcers.
22 Or il arriva que le pauvre mourut, et qu'il fut transporté par les anges dans le sein d'Abraham. Le riche mourut aussi, et fut enseveli.
And so it was, that the poor man died; and angels transported him to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died, and was buried.
23 Étant dans la Demeure-des-morts, et en proie aux tourments, il leva les yeux; il vit de loin Abraham et, dans son sein, Lazare. (Hadēs g86)
And being tormented in hell, he raised his eyes from afar off, and saw Abraham, and Lazarus in his bosom. (Hadēs g86)
24 Alors il éleva la voix; il dit: «Père Abraham, aie pitié de moi; et envoie Lazare tremper dans l'eau le bout de son doigt pour rafraîchir ma langue, car je suis torturé dans ces flammes.»
And he called with a loud voice, and said: Abraham, my father, have pity on me; and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and moisten my tongue; for, lo, I am tormented in this flame.
25 «Mon enfant, lui répondit Abraham, souviens-toi que, en ta vie, tu as reçu tes biens; Lazare, dans la sienne, a eu des maux. Ici maintenant il est consolé, et toi tu es torturé.
And Abraham said to him: My son, remember, that thou receivedst thy good things in thy lifetime, and Lazarus his evil things: and now, behold he is here at rest, and thou art tormented.
26 En outre, un abîme immense est établi entre nous et vous, de sorte qu'il serait impossible à qui le voudrait soit d'aller vers vous de là où nous sommes, soit de venir vers nous de là où vous êtes.»
And with all these, there is a great barrier between us and you; so that they who would pass from here to you, cannot; neither can they pass from there to us
27 «Il reprit: «Père, envoie donc, je t'en supplie, Lazare dans la maison de mon père;
He said to him: I pray thee, therefore, my father, that thou wouldst send him to my father's house;
28 car j'ai cinq frères; il leur attestera ces choses afin qu'ils ne viennent pas, eux aussi, dans ce lieu de tourments.»
for I have five brothers; that he may go and protest to them; lest they also come to this place of torment.
29 Mais Abraham lui répondit: «Ils ont «Moïse et les Prophètes»; qu'ils les écoutent!» —
Abraham said to him: They have Moses and the prophets, let them hear them.
30 «Non, père Abraham, continua l'autre, mais si, de chez les morts, quelqu'un va vers eux, ils se repentiront.»
But he said to him: No, my father Abraham: but if one shall go to them from the dead, they will repent.
31 Abraham lui dit alors: «S'ils n'écoutent ni «Moïse, » ni «les Prophètes, » quand même quelqu'un ressusciterait d'entre les morts, ils ne seraient pas persuadés.»
Abraham said to him: If they hear not Moses and the prophets, they will not believe, though one should rise from the dead.
