1 Et l'Éternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Parle à Aaron et lui dis: En plaçant les lampes fais en sorte que les sept lampes jettent leur lumière en face, en avant du candélabre.

Speak unto Aaron, and say unto him, When thou lightest the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light over against the candlestick.

3 Et ainsi fit Aaron: il plaça les lampes de face, en avant du candélabre, comme l'Éternel l'ordonnait à Moïse.

And Aaron did so; he lighted the lamps thereof over against the candlestick, as the LORD commanded Moses.

4 Et quant à la façon du candélabre, il était d'or et fait au tour; jusqu'à sa tige et ses fleurs, c'était un ouvrage fait au tour, il avait été travaillé d'après le modèle que l'Éternel en avait montré à Moïse.

And this work of the candlestick [was of] beaten gold, unto the shaft thereof, unto the flowers thereof, [was] beaten work: according unto the pattern which the LORD had shewed Moses, so he made the candlestick.

5 Et l'Éternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

6 Prends les Lévites du sein des enfants d'Israël et purifie-les.

Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them.

7 Et voici comment tu t'y prendras avec eux pour les purifier; fais sur eux une aspersion d'eau lustrale, et qu'ils passent le rasoir sur tout leur corps et lavent leurs vêtements et se purifient.

And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: Sprinkle water of purifying upon them, and let them shave all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and [so] make themselves clean.

8 Puis ils prendront (pour l'holocauste) un jeune taureau et l'offrande qu'on y joint, de la fleur de farine trempée d'huile, et tu prendras un autre jeune taureau pour le Sacrifice expiatoire.

Then let them take a young bullock with his meat offering, [even] fine flour mingled with oil, and another young bullock shalt thou take for a sin offering.

9 Et tu amèneras les Lévites devant la Tente du Rendez-vous, et tu convoqueras toute l'Assemblée des enfants d'Israël.

And thou shalt bring the Levites before the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt gather the whole assembly of the children of Israel together:

10 Et tu amèneras les Lévites devant l'Éternel et les enfants d'Israël imposeront les mains aux Lévites.

And thou shalt bring the Levites before the LORD: and the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites:

11 Et Aaron offrira par agitation de la part des enfants d'Israël, les Lévites, à l'Éternel, pour les mettre au service de l'Éternel.

And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD [for] an offering of the children of Israel, that they may execute the service of the LORD.

12 Et les Lévites poseront leurs mains sur la tête des taureaux, dont tu offriras l'un en sacrifice expiatoire et l'autre en holocauste à l'Éternel, afin de faire la propitiation pour les Lévites.

And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and thou shalt offer the one [for] a sin offering, and the other [for] a burnt offering, unto the LORD, to make an atonement for the Levites.

13 Et tu feras tenir les Lévites debout devant Aaron et ses fils et tu les offriras à l'Éternel par agitation.

And thou shalt set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them [for] an offering unto the LORD.

14 Ainsi tu sépareras les Lévites des enfants d'Israël, afin que les Lévites soient à moi.

Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine.

15 Et après cela les Lévites auront l'entrée pour faire le service dans la Tente du Rendez-vous. C'est ainsi que tu les purifieras et les offriras par agitation.

And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt cleanse them, and offer them [for] an offering.

16 Car ils me sont donnés, donnés en propre sur les enfants d'Israël; je les ai prélevés pour moi en substitution des prémices de la maternité de tous les premiers-nés parmi les enfants d'Israël.

For they [are] wholly given unto me from among the children of Israel; instead of such as open every womb, [even instead of] the firstborn of all the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me.

17 Car à moi sont tous les premiers-nés parmi les enfants d'Israël, et des hommes et des bestiaux: lorsque je frappai tous les premiers-nés dans le pays d'Egypte, je me les suis consacrés,

For all the firstborn of the children of Israel [are] mine, [both] man and beast: on the day that I smote every firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for myself.

18 et j'ai pris les Lévites en substitution de tout premier-né chez les enfants d'Israël,

And I have taken the Levites for all the firstborn of the children of Israel.

19 et j'ai donné les Lévites en propre à Aaron et à ses fils sur les enfants d'Israël, afin qu'ils accomplissent le service des enfants d'Israël dans la Tente du Rendez-vous, et qu'ils fassent la propitiation pour les enfants d'Israël, afin qu'une plaie ne survienne pas aux enfants d'Israël, s'ils s'approchaient du Sanctuaire.

And I have given the Levites [as] a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an atonement for the children of Israel: that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come nigh unto the sanctuary.

20 Et Moïse et Aaron et toute l'Assemblée des enfants d'Israël procédèrent ainsi à l'égard des Lévites; ils procédèrent à leur égard conformément aux ordres que l'Éternel avait donnés à Moïse touchant les Lévites.

And Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel, did to the Levites according unto all that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did the children of Israel unto them.

21 Et les Lévites firent leur expiation, et lavèrent leurs vêtements; et Aaron les offrit à l'Éternel par agitation, et Aaron fit la propitiation pour eux, afin de les purifier.

And the Levites were purified, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them [as] an offering before the LORD; and Aaron made an atonement for them to cleanse them.

22 Et après cela les Lévites entrèrent pour faire leur service dans la Tente du Rendez-vous sous les yeux d'Aaron et de ses fils; ils procédèrent à leur égard conformément aux ordres que l'Éternel avait donnés à Moïse touchant les Lévites.

And after that went the Levites in to do their service in the tabernacle of the congregation before Aaron, and before his sons: as the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did they unto them.

23 Et l'Éternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

24 Ceci concerne les Lévites: L'homme âgé de vingt-cinq ans et plus entrera au service pour exercer une fonction dans la Tente du Rendez-vous;

This [is it] that [belongeth] unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service of the tabernacle of the congregation:

25 et celui qui aura cinquante ans, se retirera du service et n'exercera plus de fonctions.

And from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting upon the service [thereof], and shall serve no more:

26 Il pourra être servant de ses frères dans la Tente du Rendez-vous, et soigner ce qui doit être soigné, mais il ne sera plus en fonction. C'est ainsi que tu procéderas à l'égard des Lévites quant à leurs offices.

But shall minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of the congregation, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shalt thou do unto the Levites touching their charge.
