Nahum 2
1 Voyez! sur les montagnes les pieds du messager qui annonce la paix! Juda, célèbre tes fêtes, accomplis tes vœux! Car le destructeur ne t'envahira plus, il est totalement détruit.
He that dasheth in pieces is come up before thy face: keep the munition, watch the way, make [thy] loins strong, fortify [thy] power mightily.
2 Le ravageur marche sur toi, [Ninive!] Garde la place, aie l'œil sur le chemin, ceins tes reins, fais les plus grands efforts!
For the LORD hath turned away the excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel: for the emptiers have emptied them out, and marred their vine branches.
3 Car l'Éternel relève la grandeur de Jacob, aussi bien que la grandeur d'Israël, parce que les dévastateurs les ont dévastés, et ont détruit leurs plants.
The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men [are] in scarlet: the chariots [shall be] with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the fir trees shall be terribly shaken.
4 Les boucliers de ses héros sont rouges, les guerriers sont vêtus d'écarlate; les faux étincellent sur les chars au jour de son armement, et les lances sont brandies.
The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall justle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings.
5 Dans les rues avec furie les chars sont lancés, ils se croisent dans les places; leur aspect est celui des torches, ils courent comme des éclairs.
He shall recount his worthies: they shall stumble in their walk; they shall make haste to the wall thereof, and the defence shall be prepared.
6 Il se souvient de ses braves; ils trébuchent dans leur marche: on se précipite contre ses murs et la tortue est dressée.
The gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall be dissolved.
7 Les portes des fleuves sont ouvertes, et le palais s'écroule.
And Huzzab shall be led away captive, she shall be brought up, and her maids shall lead [her] as with the voice of doves, tabering upon their breasts.
8 C'est arrêté: elle est mise à nu, emmenée, et ses suivantes gémissent comme des colombes, en se frappant la poitrine.
But Nineveh [is] of old like a pool of water: yet they shall flee away. Stand, stand, [shall they cry; ] but none shall look back.
9 Ninive était comme un réservoir plein d'eau, depuis qu'elle était; mais ils fuient! « Arrêtez! Arrêtez! » mais personne ne se retourné.
Take ye the spoil of silver, take the spoil of gold: for [there is] none end of the store [and] glory out of all the pleasant furniture.
10 Pillez l'argent! pillez. l'or! ce sont des trésors sans fin, des richesses, toutes sortes de meubles de prix.
She is empty, and void, and waste: and the heart melteth, and the knees smite together, and much pain [is] in all loins, and the faces of them all gather blackness.
11 Désastre et dévastation! et abandonnement! les cœurs se fondent, les genoux chancellent, tous les reins souffrent, tous les visages pâlissent.
Where [is] the dwelling of the lions, and the feedingplace of the young lions, where the lion, [even] the old lion, walked, [and] the lion’s whelp, and none made [them] afraid?
12 Qu'est devenu le repaire des lions, où les lionceaux trouvaient leur pâture, où se promenaient le lion, la lionne, le petit du lion, sans être troublés?
The lion did tear in pieces enough for his whelps, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled his holes with prey, and his dens with ravin.
13 Le lion dépeçait pour ses petits, et déchirait pour ses lionnes; il remplissait de proie ses antres, et ses repaires de dépouilles.
Behold, I [am] against thee, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.
