Luc 8
1 Et il advint plus tard que lui-même s'en allait de ville en ville et de village en village, prêchant et annonçant la bonne nouvelle du royaume de Dieu,
And after these things Jesus travelled about the cities and the villages, and proclaimed and announced the kingdom of God. And with him were his twelve disciples,
2 et avec lui étaient les douze, ainsi que quelques femmes qui avaient été délivrées d'esprits malins et d'infirmités: c'étaient Marie qui était appelée Magdalène, de laquelle étaient sortis sept démons,
and those women who were healed of infirmities and of unclean spirits, Mary called Magdalena, out of whom went seven demons,
3 et Jeanne femme de Chouza intendant d'Hérode, et Susanne, et plusieurs autres qui les assistaient de leurs biens.
and Joanna the wife of Chusa, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, who ministered to them of their property.
4 Cependant une foule nombreuse, où se trouvaient aussi ceux qui de ville en ville étaient venus à lui, s'étant rassemblée, il dit sous forme de parabole:
And when a great multitude was assembled, and people came to him from all the cities, he said, in similitudes:
5 « Le semeur sortit pour semer sa semence; et pendant qu'il la semait, une partie tomba le long du chemin, et elle fut foulée aux pieds, et les oiseaux du ciel la mangèrent toute.
A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the side of the path, and was trodden upon, and a bird devoured it.
6 Et une autre tomba sur du roc, et ayant poussé elle sécha, parce qu'elle n'avait pas d'humidité.
And other fell upon a rock, and sprung up forthwith; but, as it lacked moisture, it dried up.
7 Et une autre tomba au milieu des épines, et les épines ayant poussé avec elle, l'étouffèrent.
And other fell among thorns, and the thorns sprung up with it, and choked it.
8 Et une autre tomba dans la bonne terre, et ayant poussé elle produisit du fruit au centuple. » En disant cela, il s'écriait: « Que celui qui a des oreilles pour entendre, entende! »
And other fell on good and fair ground, and sprung up, and bore fruits, a hundred for one. Having said these things, he cried: He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
9 Mais ses disciples lui demandaient ce que signifiait cette parabole?
And his disciples asked him: what meaneth this similitude?
10 Or il dit: « Il vous a été donné de connaître les mystères du royaume de Dieu; mais pour les autres c'est en paraboles, afin qu'en voyant ils ne voient pas, et qu'en entendant ils ne comprennent pas.
And he said to them: To you it is given, to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God; but to others, it is spoken in allegories; that, while seeing, they may not see, and while hearing, may not understand.
11 Or voici ce que signifie cette parabole: La semence, c'est la parole de Dieu.
But this is the similitude: The seed is the word of God.
12 Mais ceux qui sont le long du chemin sont ceux qui ont entendu, puis survient le diable et il enlève la parole de leur cœur, afin qu'ils ne soient pas sauvés après avoir cru.
And those by the side of the path, are they that hear the word, and the enemy cometh and taketh the word out of their heart, that they may not believe and live.
13 Quant à ceux qui sont sur le roc, ce sont ceux qui, lorsqu'ils ont entendu, reçoivent avec joie la parole; et ceux-ci n'ont pas de racine, ils croient temporairement, et au moment de la tentation ils font défection.
And those upon the rock, are they who, when they hear, receive the word with joy: but they have no root in them, and their faith is temporary, and in time of temptation they are stumbled.
14 Quant à ce qui est tombé sur les épines, ce sont ceux qui ont entendu, et qui en avançant sont étouffés par les soucis et la richesse et les plaisirs de la vie et ne produisent rien.
And that which fell among thorns, are those who hear the word, but are choked by cares, and by riches, and by worldly desires, and bear no fruits.
15 Mais ce qui est tombé dans la bonne terre, ce sont ceux qui, ayant entendu la parole avec un cœur noble et bon, retiennent la parole, et portent du fruit avec persévérance.
And that on good ground, are those who, with a humble and good heart, hear the word, and retain it, and with patience bring forth fruits.
16 Or personne, après avoir allumé une lampe, ne la cache sous un meuble, ou ne la place sous un lit, mais il la place sur un support.
No one lighteth a lamp, and covereth it with a vessel, or placeth it under a bed, but setteth it upon a light-stand, that all who come in, may see the light of it.
17 Car il n'y a rien de caché qui ne doive être manifesté, ni rien de secret qui ne doive être connu et mis en évidence.
For there is nothing covered, that shall not be uncovered; nor concealed, that shall not be known and become manifest.
18 Prenez donc garde de quelle manière vous écoutez; car celui qui a, on lui donnera, et celui qui n'a pas, même ce qu'il s'imagine avoir lui sera enlevé. »
Take heed how ye hear: for to him that hath, shall be given; and from him that hath not, shall be taken even what he thinketh he hath.
19 Or sa mère et ses frères se rendirent auprès de lui, et ils ne pouvaient l'atteindre à cause de la foule.
And his mother and his brothers came to him, and they could not speak with him, because of the multitude.
20 Et il lui fut dit: « Ta mère et tes frères sont là dehors, qui veulent te voir. »
And they say to him: Thy mother and thy brothers stand without, and wish to see thee.
21 Mais il leur répliqua: « Ma mère et mes frères, ce sont ceux qui écoutent la parole de Dieu et qui la pratiquent. »
And he answered and said: My mother and my brothers, are they who hear the word of God, and do it.
22 Or il advint un jour qu'il monta dans une barque, ainsi que ses disciples, et il leur dit: « Passons sur l'autre rive du lac; » et ils partirent.
And on a certain day Jesus embarked and sat in a ship, he and his disciples. And he said to them; Let us pass over to the other side of the sea.
23 Mais pendant la traversée il s'endormit, et un tourbillon de vent se précipita sur le lac, et ils étaient submergés et en péril.
And while they were rowing, Jesus fell asleep. And there was a tempest of wind on the sea; and the ship was near to sinking.
24 Mais s'étant approchés ils l'éveillèrent en disant: « Maître, Maître, nous périssons. » Et lui s'étant réveillé, gourmanda le vent et l'agitation de l'eau; et ils cessèrent, et il survint du calme.
And they came and awaked him, and said to him: Our Rabbi, our Rabbi, we are perishing! And he arose, and rebuked the winds and the agitations of the water; and they ceased, and there was a calm.
25 Mais il leur dit: « Où est votre foi? » Et tout effrayés ils s'émerveillèrent en disant: « Quel est donc celui-ci, qu'il commande même aux vents et à l'eau? »
And he said to them: Where is your faith? And they being in awe, wondered, and said one to another: Who is this, that commandeth even the winds, and the waves, and the sea; and they obey him?
26 Et ils abordèrent au pays des Géraséniens, qui est en face de la Galilée.
And they rowed on, and came to the country of the Gadarenes, which lieth over against Galilee.
27 Et lorsqu'il fut descendu à terre, vint à sa rencontre de l'intérieur de la ville un certain homme que possédaient des démons, et depuis longtemps il n'avait pas porté de vêtement, et il ne demeurait point dans une maison, mais dans les tombeaux.
And when he went out upon the land, there, met him a man of the city, in whom had been a demon for a long time; and he wore no clothing, and did not reside in a house, but among the tombs.
28 Or ayant aperçu Jésus, après avoir poussé un cri, il tomba à ses pieds, et dit à haute voix: « Qu'y a-t-il de commun entre moi et toi, Jésus, fils du Dieu Très-Haut? Je t'en prie, ne me torture pas. »
And when he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and said, with a loud voice: What have we to do with thee? Jesus, thou Son of the exalted God. I entreat of thee, torment me not.
29 En effet il avait enjoint à l'esprit impur de sortir de cet homme; car pendant longtemps il l'avait entraîné avec lui; et il était chargé de chaînes et d'entraves pour être bien gardé, et rompant ses liens il était emmené par le démon dans les déserts.
For Jesus had commanded the unclean spirit, to come out of the man: for, of a long time he had been held captive by him; and he had been bound with chains, and held in fetters; but he had burst the bonds, and had been driven by the demon into the desert.
30 Or Jésus lui demanda: « Quel est ton nom? » Et il dit: « Légion, » parce que plusieurs démons étaient entrés en lui.
And Jesus demanded of him: What is thy name? And he said to him: Legion: because many demons had entered into him.
And they besought him, not to command them to depart into the abyss. (Abyssos g12)
32 Or il y avait là un troupeau de nombreux pourceaux qui paissait dans la montagne; et ils le sollicitèrent de leur permettre d'entrer dans ces pourceaux; et il le leur permit.
And there was a herd of many swine grazing on the mountain. And they besought him, that he would permit them to enter the swine. And he permitted them.
33 Or les démons étant sortis de cet homme entrèrent dans les pourceaux, et le troupeau se rua au bas du précipice dans le lac et se noya.
And the demons went out of the man, and entered the swine; and the whole herd ran to a precipice, and plunged into the sea, and were strangled.
34 Or ceux qui le faisaient paître, ayant vu ce qui était arrivé s'enfuirent et portèrent la nouvelle dans la ville et dans les campagnes.
And when the herdmen saw what had occurred, they fled, and told it in the cities and the villages.
35 Or les gens sortaient pour voir ce qui était arrivé, et ils vinrent auprès de Jésus, et ils trouvèrent assis aux pieds de Jésus, vêtu, et raisonnable, l'homme duquel étaient sortis les démons; et ils furent saisis de terreur.
And the men went out to see what was done. And they came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the demons had gone, now clothed, and modest, and sitting at the feet of Jesus; and they were awed.
36 Or les témoins leur rapportèrent de quelle manière le démoniaque avait été guéri.
And they that saw it, related to them in what manner the demoniac was cured.
37 Et toute la population de la contrée voisine des Géraséniens le pria de s'éloigner d'eux, car ils étaient saisis d'une grande crainte. Et étant remonté dans une barque, il s'en retourna.
And the whole throng of the Gadarenes requested him, that he would depart from them: for great fear had seized them. And Jesus embarked in a ship, and retired from among them.
38 Cependant l'homme duquel étaient sortis les démons le priait de le prendre avec lui, mais il le renvoya en disant:
And the man, from whom the demons had gone out, requested that he might remain with him. But Jesus dismissed him, and said to him:
39 « Retourne dans ta maison, et raconte tout ce que Dieu a fait pour toi. » Et il s'en alla proclamant dans toute la ville tout ce que Jésus avait fait pour lui.
Return to thy home, and relate what God hath done for thee. And he went away, and proclaimed through all the city what Jesus had done for him.
40 Or comme Jésus revenait en arrière, il fut accueilli par la foule, car ils étaient tous à l'attendre.
And when Jesus returned, a great multitude received him; for all were looking for him.
41 Et voici, survint un homme, dont le nom était Jaïrus, et c'était lui qui était chef de la synagogue; et étant tombé aux pieds de Jésus, il le sollicitait d'entrer dans sa maison,
And a man, whose name was Jairus, a chief of the synagogue, fell down at the feet of Jesus, and besought him to enter his house;
42 parce qu'il avait une fille unique âgée d'environ douze ans, et qu'elle se mourait. Or, comme il s'y rendait, la foule l'étouffait,
for he had an only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was near dying. And as Jesus went with him, a great multitude pressed upon him.
43 et une femme malade depuis douze ans d'un flux de sang, laquelle n'avait pu être guérie par personne,
And a certain woman, whose blood had flowed twelve years, and who had expended all her property among physicians, and could not be cured by any one,
44 s'étant approchée toucha par derrière la frange de son manteau, et tout à coup son flux de sang s'arrêta.
came up behind him, and touched the border of his garment; and immediately the flow of her blood stopped.
45 Et Jésus dit: « Qui est-ce qui m'a touché? » Mais tous s'en défendant, Pierre dit: « Maître, la foule t'entoure et te presse! »
And Jesus said: Who touched me? And when all denied, Simon Cephas and those with him said to him: Our Rabbi, crowds press upon thee and sayest thou, Who touched me?
46 Mais Jésus dit: « Quelqu'un m'a touché; car j'ai senti qu'une force est sortie de moi. »
And he said: Some one touched me; for I perceive, that energy hath gone out from me.
47 Et la femme, voyant qu'elle était découverte, s'approcha en tremblant, et s'étant jetée à ses pieds, elle déclara devant tout le peuple pour quel motif elle l'avait touché, et comment elle avait été tout à coup guérie.
And the woman, when she saw that she had not escaped his notice, came trembling, and fell down and worshipped him. And in the presence of all the people, she declared for what cause she had touched him, and that she was instantly healed.
48 Mais il lui dit: « Ma fille, ta foi t'a sauvée, va-t-en en paix. »
And Jesus said to her: Take courage, my daughter: Thy faith hath given thee life: Go in peace.
49 Comme il parlait encore, survint quelqu'un de chez le chef de synagogue, disant: « Ta fille est morte, n'importune plus le maître! »
And while he was speaking, one came from the house of the chief of the synagogue, and said to him: Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the teacher.
50 Ce que Jésus ayant ouï, il lui répliqua: « Ne crains point, crois seulement, et elle sera sauvée. »
And Jesus heard it, and said to the father of the maid: Fear not; believe only, and she will live.
51 Or, étant entré dans la maison, il ne permit pas que personne entrât avec lui, sauf Pierre, et Jean et Jacques et le père de l'enfant et sa mère.
And Jesus came to the house; and he suffered none to go in with him, except Simon, and James, and John, and the father and mother of the maid.
52 Or tous pleuraient et se lamentaient sur elle, mais il leur dit: « Ne pleurez pas; car elle n'est pas morte, mais elle dort. »
And all were weeping and wailing over her. And Jesus said: Weep not; for she is not dead, but sleepeth
53 Et ils se moquaient de lui, sachant qu'elle était morte.
And they derided him, knowing that she was dead.
54 Mais lui, ayant pris sa main, s'écria: « Enfant, lève-toi. »
And he put every one out, and took her by the hand, and called, and said: Maid, arise.
55 Et son esprit revint, et elle se leva immédiatement; et il commanda qu'on lui donnât à manger.
And her spirit returned, and she instantly arose. And he directed them to give her food.
56 Et ses parents furent stupéfaits; mais il leur enjoignit de ne parler à personne de ce qui était arrivé.
And her parents were astonished: and he charged them to tell no one what had occurred.
