Luc 16
1 Or il disait aussi aux disciples: « Il y avait un homme riche, qui avait un économe; et celui-ci lui fut dénoncé comme dilapidant ce qui lui appartenait.
And he spoke a parable to his disciples. There was a certain rich man, who had a steward; and accusations were brought to him of him, that he squandered his property.
2 Et l'ayant appelé il lui dit: « Qu'est-ce que j'apprends là sur toi? Rends compte de ta gestion, car tu ne peux plus l'exercer. »
And his lord called him, and said to him: What is this that I hear of thee? Render to me an account of thy stewardship; for thou canst no longer be my steward.
3 Mais l'économe se dit en lui-même: Que ferai-je, puisque mon maître m'enlève la gestion? Je ne puis pas labourer, et j'ai honte de mendier;
And the steward said with himself: What shall I do, since my lord is about to take from me the stewardship? To dig, I am unable; and to become a beggar, I am ashamed.
4 je sais ce que je ferai, afin que, lorsque j'aurai été destitué de la gestion, il y ait des gens qui me reçoivent dans leurs maisons.
I know what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me to their houses.
5 Et ayant fait venir chacun des débiteurs de son maître, il disait au premier: « Combien dois-tu à mon maître? » Et l'autre dit: « Cent tonneaux d'huile. »
And he called each one of his lord's debtors; and he said to the first, How much owest thou to my lord?
6 Mais il lui dit: « Tiens ton obligation, assieds-toi, et écris immédiatement cinquante. »
And he said to him, One hundred measures of oil. And he said to him: Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write Fifty measures.
7 Ensuite il dit à un autre: « Et toi, combien dois-tu? » Et l'autre dit: « Cent mesures de blé. » Il lui dit: « Tiens ton obligation, et écris quatre-vingts. »
And he said to another: And how much owest thou to my lord? And he said to him, One hundred cors of wheat. And he said to him: Take thy bill, and sit down, and write Eighty cors.
8 Et le maître loua l'économe inique, parce qu'il avait prudemment agi; car les fils de ce siècle-ci sont plus prudents envers leur propre génération que les fils de la lumière. (aiōn g165)
And our Lord praised the unrighteous steward, for having acted sagaciously: for the children of this world are more sagacious than the children of light, in this their generation. (aiōn g165)
9 Moi aussi je vous dis: Faites-vous des amis au moyen du Mamôna d'iniquité, afin que, lorsqu'il vous manquera, ils vous reçoivent dans les tabernacles éternels. (aiōnios g166)
And I also say to you: Make to yourselves friends, with this unrighteous mammon; so that when it is finished, they may receive you to their everlasting tabernacles. (aiōnios g166)
10 Celui qui est fidèle pour très peu de chose est aussi fidèle pour beaucoup; et celui qui est inique en très peu de chose est aussi inique dans beaucoup.
He that is faithful in the little, is also faithful in the much; and he that is unjust in the little, is also unjust in the much.
11 Si donc vous ne vous êtes pas montrés fidèles pour la richesse inique, qui est-ce qui vous confiera la véritable?
If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will intrust to you the reality?
12 Et si vous ne vous êtes pas montrés fidèles pour le bien d'autrui, qui est-ce qui vous donnera le nôtre?
And if ye have not been found faithful in that which is not yours, who will give to you that which is yours?
13 Nul serviteur ne peut servir deux maîtres, car, ou bien il haïra l'un et aimera l'autre, ou bien il s'attachera à l'un et méprisera l'autre; vous ne pouvez servir Dieu et Mamôna. »
There is no servant, who can serve two lords. For, either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will honor the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
14 Or les pharisiens, qui étaient amis de l'argent, entendirent toutes ces choses, et ils se moquaient de lui.
And the Pharisees, when they heard all these things, because they loved money, derided him.
15 Et il leur dit: « Vous êtes de ceux qui se justifient eux-mêmes devant les hommes, mais Dieu connaît vos cœurs; car l'arrogance chez l'homme est une abomination devant le Seigneur.
And Jesus said to them: Ye are such as justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your heart: for that which is exalted among men, is abominable before God.
16 La loi et les prophètes ont subsisté jusques à Jean; dès lors est annoncée la bonne nouvelle du royaume de Dieu, et chacun s'y introduit par violence.
The law and the prophets were until John: since then, the kingdom of God is proclaimed, and every one presseth it to enter in.
17 Or il est plus facile que le ciel et la terre disparaissent, qu'il ne l'est qu'un seul jambage de la loi soit anéanti.
And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one letter to pass from the law.
18 Quiconque répudie sa femme et en épouse une autre commet un adultère, et celui qui épouse une femme répudiée par son mari commet un adultère.
Whoever putteth away his wife, and taketh another, committeth adultery; and whoever taketh her that is put away, committeth adultery.
19 « Or il y avait un homme riche, lequel s'habillait de pourpre et de soie, menant chaque jour avec éclat une joyeuse vie;
And there was a certain rich man, who was clothed in fine linen and scarlet, and passed every day in splendid luxury.
20 mais un pauvre, nommé Lazare, avait été jeté près de sa porte, tout couvert d'ulcères
And there was a certain poor man, whose name was Lazarus; and he was laid at the gate of the rich man, smitten with ulcers.
21 et désireux de se rassasier de ce qui tombait de la table du riche; mais les chiens même venaient lécher ses ulcères.
And he desired to fill his belly with the fragments that fell from the rich man's table: and the dogs also came and licked his ulcers.
22 Or il advint que ce pauvre mourut, et qu'il fut emporté par les anges dans le sein d'Abraham; mais le riche mourut aussi, et il fut enterré.
And so it was, that the poor man died; and angels transported him to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died, and was buried.
23 Et dans le séjour des morts, ayant levé les yeux du milieu des tourments, il voit de loin Abraham et Lazare dans son sein; (Hadēs g86)
And being tormented in hell, he raised his eyes from afar off, and saw Abraham, and Lazarus in his bosom. (Hadēs g86)
24 et il s'écria: « Père Abraham, aie pitié de moi, et envoie Lazare afin qu'il trempe dans l'eau le bout de son doigt, et qu'il rafraîchisse ma langue, car je suis à la torture dans cette flamme. »
And he called with a loud voice, and said: Abraham, my father, have pity on me; and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and moisten my tongue; for, lo, I am tormented in this flame.
25 Mais Abraham dit: « Mon enfant, rappelle-toi que tu as reçu tes biens pendant ta vie, et de même Lazare ses maux; mais maintenant il est ici consolé, tandis que toi, tu es à la torture;
And Abraham said to him: My son, remember, that thou receivedst thy good things in thy lifetime, and Lazarus his evil things: and now, behold he is here at rest, and thou art tormented.
26 et d'ailleurs, entre nous et vous s'ouvre un vaste abîme, afin que ceux qui veulent passer d'ici vers vous ne le puissent pas, et que de là-bas ils ne traversent pas non plus vers nous. »
And with all these, there is a great barrier between us and you; so that they who would pass from here to you, cannot; neither can they pass from there to us
27 Mais il dit: « Je te supplie donc, Père, de l'envoyer dans la maison de mon père,
He said to him: I pray thee, therefore, my father, that thou wouldst send him to my father's house;
28 car j'ai cinq frères, afin qu'il les avertisse, de peur qu'eux aussi ne viennent dans ce lieu de tourment. »
for I have five brothers; that he may go and protest to them; lest they also come to this place of torment.
29 Mais Abraham dit: « Ils ont Moïse et les prophètes, qu'ils les écoutent!
Abraham said to him: They have Moses and the prophets, let them hear them.
30 Mais l'autre dit: « Non, Père Abraham, mais si quelqu'un vient de chez les morts auprès d'eux, ils se repentiront. »
But he said to him: No, my father Abraham: but if one shall go to them from the dead, they will repent.
31 Mais il lui dit: « S'ils n'écoutent ni Moïse ni les prophètes, ils ne se laisseront pas non plus persuader quand même quelqu'un ressusciterait des morts. »
Abraham said to him: If they hear not Moses and the prophets, they will not believe, though one should rise from the dead.
