Luc 15
1 Or tous les publicains et les pécheurs s'approchaient de lui pour l'entendre,
Then resorted vnto him all the Publicanes and sinners, to heare him.
2 et les pharisiens et les scribes murmuraient en disant: « Celui-ci accueille des pécheurs et mange avec eux! »
Therefore the Pharises and Scribes murmured, saying, Hee receiueth sinners, and eateth with them.
3 Mais il leur adressa cette parabole-ci, en disant:
Then spake hee this parable to them, saying,
4 « Quel est parmi vous l'homme qui, possédant cent brebis, s'il vient à en perdre une, ne laisse les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf autres dans le désert, et n'aille après celle qui est perdue jusques à ce qu'il l'ait retrouvée?
What man of you hauing an hundreth sheepe, if hee lose one of them, doeth not leaue ninetie and nine in the wildernesse, and goe after that which is lost, vntill he finde it?
5 Et, quand il l'a retrouvée, il la place tout joyeux sur ses épaules,
And when he hath found it, he laieth it on his shoulders with ioye.
6 et, de retour chez lui, il appelle ses amis et ses voisins, en leur disant: « Réjouissez-vous avec moi, car j'ai retrouvé ma brebis qui était perdue. »
And when he commeth home, he calleth together his friendes and neighbours, saying vnto them, Reioyce with mee: for I haue founde my sheepe which was lost.
7 Je vous déclare que, de même, il y aura plus de joie dans le ciel pour un seul pécheur qui se repent, que pour quatre-vingt-dix-neuf justes qui n'ont pas besoin de repentance.
I say vnto you, that likewise ioy shall be in heauen for one sinner that conuerteth, more then for ninetie and nine iust men, which neede none amendment of life.
8 Ou bien, quelle est la femme qui, possédant dix drachmes, si elle vient à en perdre une, n'allume une lampe, et ne balaye sa maison, et ne cherche soigneusement jusques à ce qu'elle la retrouve?
Either what woman hauing ten groates, if she lose one groate, doth not light a candle, and sweepe the house, and seeke diligently till shee finde it?
9 Et, après l'avoir trouvée, elle appelle ses amies et ses voisines, en disant: « Réjouissez-vous avec moi, car j'ai retrouvé la drachme que j'avais perdue. »
And when shee hath found it, shee calleth her friendes, and neighbours, saying, Reioyce with me: for I haue found the groate which I had lost.
10 De même, je vous le déclare, il y a de la joie devant les anges de Dieu pour un seul pécheur qui se repent. »
Likewise I say vnto you, there is ioy in the presence of the Angels of God, for one sinner that conuerteth.
11 Or il dit: « Un homme avait deux fils;
He sayde moreouer, A certaine man had two sonnes.
12 le plus jeune d'entre eux dit à son père: « Père, donne-moi la part de fortune qui me revient. » Et il leur partagea le bien.
And the yonger of them sayde to his father, Father, giue mee the portion of the goods that falleth to mee. So he deuided vnto them his substance.
13 Et, au bout de quelques jours, le plus jeune fils, ayant tout réalisé, partit pour un lointain pays, et là il dissipa sa fortune en vivant dans la débauche.
So not many daies after, when the yonger sonne had gathered all together, hee tooke his iourney into a farre countrey, and there hee wasted his goods with riotous liuing.
14 Mais quand il eut tout dépensé, une grande famine survint dans ce pays-là, et lui-même commença à se trouver dans le dénuement;
Nowe when hee had spent all, there arose a great dearth throughout that land, and he began to be in necessitie.
15 et il s'en alla se mettre au service de l'un des citoyens de ce pays-là, et celui-ci l'envoya dans ses champs pour faire paître des pourceaux.
Then hee went and claue to a citizen of that conntrey, and hee sent him to his farme, to feede swine.
16 Et il désirait se rassasier des gousses que mangeaient les pourceaux, et personne ne lui en donnait.
And hee would faine haue filled his bellie with the huskes, that the swine ate: but no man gaue them him.
17 Mais rentrant en lui-même il dit: Combien de mercenaires de mon père ont plus de pain qu'il ne leur en faut, tandis que moi je meurs ici de faim;
Then he came to him selfe, and said, Howe many hired seruaunts at my fathers haue bread ynough, and I die for hunger?
18 je m'en irai vers mon père et je lui dirai: « Père, j'ai péché contre le ciel et devant toi,
I wil rise and goe to my father, and say vnto him, Father, I haue sinned against heaue, and before thee,
19 je ne suis plus digne d'être appelé ton fils; traite-moi comme l'un de tes mercenaires. » Et il s'en alla vers son père.
And am no more worthy to be called thy sonne: make me as one of thy hired seruants.
20 Or, comme il était encore à distance, son père l'aperçut et fut touché de compassion, et étant accouru il se jeta à son col et lui donna un tendre baiser.
So hee arose and came to his father, and when hee was yet a great way off, his father sawe him, and had compassion, and ranne and fell on his necke, and kissed him.
21 Mais le fils lui dit: « Père, j'ai péché contre le ciel et devant toi, je ne suis plus digne d'être appelé ton fils; traite-moi comme l'un de tes mercenaires. »
And the sonne sayde vnto him, Father, I haue sinned against heauen, and before thee, and am no more worthie to be called thy sonne.
22 Mais le père dit à ses esclaves: « Apportez vite une robe, la plus belle, et revêtez-le, et mettez un anneau à sa main, et des sandales à ses pieds,
Then the father said to his seruaunts, Bring foorth the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feete,
23 et amenez le veau gras; tuez-le, et que nous nous réjouissions en le mangeant,
And bring the fat calfe, and kill him, and let vs eate, and be merie:
24 car mon fils que voici était mort et il a vécu; il était perdu et il a été retrouvé. »
For this my sonne was dead, and is aliue againe: and he was lost, but he is found. And they began to be merie.
25 Et ils se mirent à se réjouir. Or son fils aîné était aux champs, et lorsqu'à son retour il approcha de la maison, il entendit de la musique et des danses,
Nowe the elder brother was in the fielde, and when he came and drewe neere to the house, he heard melodie, and dauncing,
26 et ayant appelé un des serviteurs il s'informait de ce que c'était.
And called one of his seruaunts, and asked what those things meant.
27 L'autre lui dit: « Ton frère est arrivé, et ton père a fait tuer le veau gras, parce qu'il l'a retrouvé en bonne santé. »
And hee sayde vnto him, Thy brother is come, and thy father hath killed the fatte calfe, because he hath receiued him safe and sound.
28 Mais il se mit en colère et ne voulait pas entrer. Cependant son père étant sorti le sollicitait;
Then he was angry, and would not goe in: therefore came his father out and entreated him.
29 mais il répliqua à son père: « Voici, il y a un si grand nombre d'années que je te sers, et je n'ai jamais transgressé aucun de tes ordres, et tu ne m'as jamais donné un chevreau, pour que je me réjouisse avec mes amis;
But he answered and said to his father, Loe, these many yeeres haue I done thee seruice, neither brake I at any time thy commadement, and yet thou neuer gauest mee a kidde that I might make merie with my friends.
30 mais quand ton fils que voici, qui a mangé ton bien avec des courtisanes, est arrivé, tu as fait tuer pour lui le veau gras! »
But when this thy sonne was come, which hath deuoured thy good with harlots, thou hast for his sake killed the fat calfe.
31 Mais il lui dit: « Mon enfant, tu es toujours avec moi, et tout ce qui est à moi t'appartient;
And he said vnto him, Sonne, thou art euer with me, and al that I haue, is thine.
32 mais il fallait se réjouir et s'égayer, parce que ton frère que voici était mort et il a vécu, il était perdu et il a été retrouvé. »
It was meete that we shoulde make merie, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is aliue againe: and hee was lost, but he is found.
