Jérémie 45

1 La parole qu'adressa Jérémie, le prophète, à Baruch, fils de Nérija, quand celui-ci écrivit toutes ces paroles dans un livre, sous la dictée de Jérémie, la quatrième année de Jéhojakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda; il dit:

The word that Jeremiah the prophet spake unto Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,

2 Ainsi parle l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël, à toi, Baruch:

Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, unto thee, O Baruch;

3 Tu dis: Que je suis malheureux! car l'Éternel a ajouté pour moi le chagrin à la douleur; je suis fatigué par mes soupirs, et je ne trouve aucun repos.

Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the LORD hath added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.

4 Parle-lui ainsi: Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Voici, ce que j'ai bâti, je le démolirai, et ce que j'ai planté, je l'arracherai, c'est-à-dire, tout ce pays.

Thus shalt thou say unto him, The LORD saith thus; Behold, [that] which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.

5 Et toi, tu demanderais pour toi de grandes choses! Ne les demande pas! car voici, je fais fondre le malheur sur toute chair, dit l'Éternel, mais je te donnerai ta vie pour butin dans tous les lieux où tu iras.

And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek [them] not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the LORD: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.
