Isaïe 1
1 Révélation d'Ésaïe, fils d'Amots, qui lui fut révélée touchant Juda et Jérusalem, dans le temps d'Hosias, de Jotham, d'Achaz, d'Ézéchias, roi de Juda.
The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, [and] Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
2 Cieux, écoutez! Terre, prête l'oreille! car l'Éternel parle. J'ai nourri et élevé des enfants, mais ils se sont rebellés contre moi.
Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.
3 Le bœuf connaît son possesseur, et l'âne la crèche de son maître:
The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: [but] Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.
4 Israël ne le connaît pas, mon peuple ne le distingue pas. Malheur à la nation pécheresse, à la nation chargée d'iniquité, à la race méchante, aux enfants dénaturés! Ils ont abandonné l'Éternel, méprisé le Saint d'Israël, se sont retirés en arrière!…
Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
5 Où vous frapper encore, si vous ajoutez à vos rébellions?
Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.
6 La tête entière est malade, et le cœur entier dans le dépérissement. De la plante des pieds jusqu'à la tête rien n'y est sain; c'est blessure, et contusion, et plaie vive, qui ne sont ni pansées, ni bandées, ni adoucies avec l'huile.
From the sole of the foot even unto the head [there is] no soundness in it; [but] wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.
7 Votre pays est désolé, vos villes brûlées au feu, et vos champs, sous vos yeux des étrangers les dévorent; c'est une dévastation, comme quand des étrangers saccagent.
Your country [is] desolate, your cities [are] burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and [it is] desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
8 Et la fille de Sion reste comme une hutte dans une vigne, comme une guérite dans un champ de concombres, comme une ville épargnée.
And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.
9 Si l'Éternel des armées ne nous eût laissé un faible reste, nous étions pareils à Sodome, assimilés à Gomorrhe.
Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, [and] we should have been like unto Gomorrah.
10 Entendez la parole de l'Éternel, princes de Sodome! Écoutez la loi de notre Dieu, peuple de Gomorrhe!
Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.
11 Que me fait le nombre de vos sacrifices? dit l'Éternel: j'ai à satiété des holocaustes de béliers et de la graisse des veaux gras; et au sang des taureaux et des agneaux et des boucs je ne prends point de plaisir.
To what purpose [is] the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.
12 Quand vous venez vous présenter devant moi, qui vous demande de fouler mes parvis?
When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?
13 N'offrez plus d'oblations menteuses! J'ai en horreur l'encens, les nouvelles lunes et les sabbats, la convocation de l'assemblée; je ne souffre pas le crime et les fêtes solennelles.
Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; [it is] iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
14 Vos nouvelles lunes et vos fêtes, mon âme les a en aversion; elles me sont à charge, je suis las de les supporter.
Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear [them].
15 Et quand vous tendez vos mains, je me cache les yeux devant vous; même quand vous multipliez vos prières, je n'écoute pas: vos mains sont pleines de sang.
And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
16 Lavez-vous, purifiez-vous, ôtez de devant mes yeux la malice de vos actions, cessez de mal faire,
Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
17 apprenez à bien faire, recherchez la droiture, redressez l'iniquité, faites droit à l'orphelin, défendez la veuve!
Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
18 Venez et plaidons, dit l'Éternel. Si vos péchés sont comme le vermillon, ils deviendront blancs comme la neige; s'ils sont rouges comme la pourpre, ils deviendront tels que la laine.
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
19 Si vous avez la volonté et l'obéissance, vous vous nourrirez des biens du pays;
If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
20 mais si vous êtes rénitents et rebelles, de l'épée vous serez la proie, car la bouche de l'Éternel a parlé.
But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken [it].
21 Comment la cité fidèle s'est-elle changée en prostituée? Elle était remplie d'équité, la justice y habitait, et maintenant des meurtriers!
How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.
22 Ton argent s'est changé en scories, ton vin a été coupé d'eau;
Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water:
23 tes princes sont des rebelles et les compagnons des voleurs; tous ils aiment les dons corrupteurs et recherchent les présents; ils ne font pas droit à l'orphelin, et la cause de la veuve ne vient pas jusqu'à eux.
Thy princes [are] rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.
24 Aussi, tel est l'arrêt du Seigneur, de l'Éternel des armées, du Fort d'Israël: Oui, je prendrai satisfaction de mes ennemis et me vengerai de mes adversaires.
Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:
25 Et je porterai la main sur toi, et comme avec la potasse je fondrai tes scories, et ôterai tout le plomb qui est en toi;
And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:
26 et je te rendrai des juges tels que dans l'origine, et des conseillers tels qu'au commencement. Alors tu seras appelée Ville de la justice, Cité fidèle.
And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.
27 Sion sera sauvée par la droiture, et ses [habitants] convertis par la justice;
Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.
28 mais ruine sur les rebelles et les pécheurs à la fois! et ceux qui abandonnent l'Éternel périront.
And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners [shall be] together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.
29 Car ils seront confus à cause des térébinthes que vous aimez, et vous rougirez à cause des jardins que vous chérissez;
For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.
30 car vous serez comme un térébinthe dont le feuillage est flétri, et comme un jardin privé d'eau.
For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.
31 Et l'homme fort sera l'étoupe, et son œuvre l'étincelle, et ils brûleront l'un et l'autre ensemble, et personne qui éteigne.
And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench [them].
