Isaïe 7

1 Et il arriva au temps d'Achaz, fils de Jotham, fils d'Hosias, roi de Juda, que Retsin, roi de Syrie, et Pékach, fils de Remalia, roi d'Israël, se mirent en campagne contre Jérusalem pour l'attaquer; mais ils ne purent l'attaquer.

And in the dayes of Ahaz, the sonne of Iotham, the sonne of Vzziah king of Iudah, Rezin the King of Aram came vp, and Pekah the sonne of Remaliah King of Israel, to Ierusalem to fight against it, but he could not ouercome it.

2 Et l'on donna cet avis à la maison de David, en ces mots: Le Syrien est campé en Éphraïm. – Alors son cœur et le cœur de son peuple trembla, comme tremblent les arbres de la forêt au souffle du vent.

And it was tolde the house of Dauid, saying, Aram is ioyned with Ephraim: therefore his heart was moued, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest are moued by the winde.

3 Alors l'Éternel dit à Ésaïe: Va donc te présenter à Achaz, toi et Schear-jaschoub ton fils, au bout de l'aqueduc de l'étang supérieur, vers le sentier du champ du foulon,

Then sayde the Lord vnto Isaiah, Goe foorth nowe to meete Ahaz (thou and Sheariashub thy sonne) at the ende of the conduit of the vpper poole, in the path of the fullers fielde,

4 et dis-lui: Sois sur tes gardes, mais sois tranquille! ne crains rien! et que ton cœur ne faiblisse pas devant ces deux bouts de tisons fumants, parce que s'est allumée la colère de Retsin et du Syrien, et du fils de Remalia,

And say vnto him, Take heede, and be still: feare not, neither be faint hearted for the two tailes of these smoking firebrands, for the furious wrath of Rezin and of Aram, and of Remaliahs sonne:

5 et que la Syrie médite ta ruine, ainsi que Éphraïm et le fils de Remalia, disant:

Because Aram hath taken wicked counsell against thee, and Ephraim, and Remaliahs sonne, saying,

6 Marchons contre Juda, et donnons-lui l'alarme, et battons [la ville] en brèche pour y entrer, et établissons-y pour roi le fils de Tabeel.

Let vs goe vp against Iudah, and let vs waken them vp, and make a breach therein for vs, and set a King in the mids thereof, euen the sonne of Tabeal.

7 Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Cela n'aura pas lieu et il n'en sera rien;

Thus sayth the Lord God, It shall not stand, neither shall it be.

8 car le chef-lieu de la Syrie sera encore Damas, et le chef de Damas Retsin (et encore soixante-cinq ans, et Éphraïm sera mis en pièces et cessera d'être un peuple);

For the head of Aram is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin: and within fiue and threescore yeere, Ephraim shalbe destroyed from being a people.

9 et le chef-lieu d'Éphraïm sera encore Samarie, et le chef de Samarie le fils de Remalia. Que si vous ne croyez pas, vous ne vous soutiendrez pas.

And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliahs sonne. If ye beleeue not, surely ye shall not be established.

10 Et l'Éternel parla encore à Achaz et lui dit:

And the Lord spake againe vnto Ahaz, saying,

11 Demande à l'Éternel ton Dieu qu'un signe te soit donné; demande qu'il paraisse dans les lieux bas, ou en haut dans les lieux élevés. (Sheol h7585)

Aske a signe for thee of the Lord thy God: aske it, either in the depth beneath or in the height aboue. (Sheol h7585)

12 Et Achaz dit: Je ne veux ni demander, ni tenter l'Éternel!

But Ahaz sayd, I wil not aske, neither will I tempt the Lord.

13 Alors il dit: Eh bien! écoutez, maison de David! Est-ce trop peu pour vous de lasser les hommes, que vous lassez aussi mon Dieu?

Then he sayd, Heare you nowe, O house of Dauid, Is it a small thing for you to grieue men, that ye will also grieue my God?

14 C'est pourquoi l'Éternel lui-même vous donnera un signe: Voici, la vierge concevra, et elle enfantera un fils, et l'appellera Immanuel.

Therefore the Lord himselfe will giue you a signe. Beholde, the virgine shall conceiue and beare a sonne, and she shall call his name Immanu-el.

15 Il mangera du lait et du miel, jusqu'à ce qu'il sache rejeter le mal et choisir le bien.

Butter and hony shall he eate, till he haue knowledge to refuse the euill, and to chuse the good.

16 Car avant que l'enfant sache rejeter le mal et choisir le bien, le pays dont les deux rois t'alarment, sera désolé.

For afore the childe shall haue knowledge to eschew the euill, and to chuse the good, the land, that thou abhorrest, shalbe forsaken of both her Kings.

17 L'Éternel amènera pour toi et pour ton peuple, et pour la maison de ton père, des jours tels qu'il n'en est point venu depuis le jour où Éphraïm s'est détaché de Juda, (le roi d'Assyrie).

The Lord shall bring vpon thee, and vpon thy people, and vpon thy fathers house (the dayes that haue not come from the day that Ephraim departed from Iudah) euen the King of Asshur.

18 Et en ce jour-là l'Éternel fera arriver les mouches qui sont à l'extrémité des fleuves de l'Egypte, et les abeilles qui sont dans le pays d'Assur;

And in that day shall the Lord hisse for the flie that is at the vttermost part of the floods of Egypt, and for the bee which is in the lande of Asshur,

19 et elles viendront, et se poseront toutes dans les vallées escarpées, et dans les fentes des rochers, et dans tous les buissons, et dans tous les pâturages.

And they shall come and shall light all in the desolate valleys, and in the holes of the rockes, and vpon all thorny places, and vpon all bushy places.

20 En ce jour-là, le Seigneur rasera avec un rasoir loué au-delà du fleuve (le roi d'Assyrie) la tête et le poil des jambes, et Il enlèvera aussi la barbe.

In that day shall the Lord shaue with a rasor that is hired, euen by them beyond the Riuer, by the King of Asshur, the head and the heare of the feete, and it shall consume the beard.

21 Et dans ce même temps, un homme entretiendra une petite vache et deux brebis,

And in the same day shall a man nourish a yong kow, and two sheepe.

22 et obtenant beaucoup de lait il en mangera la crème, car c'est de la crème et du miel que mangeront tous ceux qui seront laissés de reste dans le pays.

And for the abundance of milke, that they shall giue, hee shall eate butter: for butter and hony shall euery one eate, which is left within the land.

23 Et en ce même temps, tout lieu qui contiendra mille ceps de mille sicles d'argent, deviendra épines et ronces.

And at the same day euery place, wherein shalbe a thousand vines, shalbe at a thousand pieces of siluer: so it shalbe for the briers and for the thornes.

24 Avec la flèche et l'arc on y viendra; car tout le pays sera épines et ronces.

With arrowes and with bowe shall one come thither: because all the land shall be briers and thornes.

25 Et sur toutes les montagnes que l'on bêchait avec la bêche, tu n'iras plus, par crainte des épines et des ronces: et ce sera un pâturage pour le bétail et un sol foulé par les moutons.

But on all the mountaines, which shalbe digged with the mattocke, there shall not come thither the feare of briers and thornes: but they shalbe for the sending out of bullocks, and for the treading of sheepe.
