Ézéchiel 3

1 Et Il me dit: Fils de l'homme, mange ce que tu trouves devant toi; mange ce volume, et t'en va parler à la maison d'Israël.

He said to me, “You human, eat this scroll that is in front of you. Then go and speak to the Israeli people [MTY].”

2 Et j'ouvris la bouche, et Il me donna ce volume à manger.

So I opened my mouth, and he gave me the scroll to eat it.

3 Et Il me dit: Fils de l'homme, nourris ton ventre et remplis tes entrailles de ce volume que je te présente. Et je le mangeai, et il avait dans ma bouche la douceur du miel.

Then he said to me, “You human, eat the scroll that I have given to you. Fill your stomach with it.” So I ate it, and in my mouth it tasted as sweet as honey.

4 Et Il me dit: Fils de l'homme, marche et va vers la maison d'Israël, et parle-leur en prenant mes paroles!

Then he said to me, “You human, go to the Israeli people [MTY] and tell them my message.

5 Car ce n'est point vers un peuple au langage obscur, à la langue inintelligible, que tu es envoyé, c'est à la maison d'Israël;

The people to whom I am sending you are not people whose language is very [to learn], a language which you do not understand. I am sending you to your Israeli people [MTY].

6 ce n'est pas à des peuples nombreux au langage obscur, à la langue inintelligible, dont tu ne comprends pas les discours: assurément si je t'envoyais à eux, ils t'écouteraient.

I am sending you to people whose language you understand very well. If I were sending you to people whose language was difficult for you to understand, they [be surprised and] pay attention to what [say to them].

7 Mais la maison d'Israël ne voudra pas t'écouter, car ils n'ont pas la volonté de m'écouter. Car toute la maison d'Israël a le front insensible et le cœur endurci.

But the Israeli people do not want to listen to you because they do not want to listen to me. [They do not want to listen because] they are all very stubborn [DOU].

8 Voici, j'ai endurci ton visage, pour faire face à leur visage, et j'ai endurci ton front, pour faire face à leur front.

But I will enable you [SYN] to be as stubborn and tough as they are.

9 J'ai rendu ton front comme le diamant, plus dur que le roc. N'aie point peur d'eux, et ne tremble point devant eux, car ils sont une race réfractaire.

I will cause you to be as firm/unbreakable as [SIM] the hardest stone, like flint. So, [even though] they are very rebellious people, do not be afraid of them; do not allow them to cause you to be afraid.”

10 Et Il me dit: Fils de l'homme, reçois dans ton cœur toutes mes paroles que je t'adresse, et écoute-les de tes oreilles.

He also said to me, “You human, listen very carefully to what I say, and keep thinking about it [IDM].

11 Ainsi, marche et va vers les captifs, vers les enfants de ton peuple, parle-leur et dis-leur: « Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: » qu'ils écoutent ou qu'ils s'y refusent.

Go to your fellow Israelis who [here after being] (exiled/forced to leave their country), and speak to them. Say to them, ‘This is what Yahweh the Lord says,’ [and then tell them my message], whether they want to hear it or whether they do not want to hear it.”

12 Et l'Esprit me souleva, et j'entendis derrière moi le bruit d'une grande rumeur: « Bénie soit la majesté de l'Éternel depuis sa demeure! »

[in the vision] the [of God] lifted me up, and I heard behind [someone speaking very loudly], like a loud rumbling sound. [I heard someone say, ] “Praise our glorious Yahweh in the place where he [in heaven]!”

13 et le bruit des ailes des animaux qui s'entre-heurtaient, et le bruit des roues à leurs côtés, et le bruit d'une grande rumeur.

[I heard] the sound of the wings of the four living creatures brushing against each other, [I also heard] the sound of the wheels that were beside them. It was a loud rumbling sound.

14 Et l'Esprit me souleva et m'emporta. Et je m'en allai irrité dans l'amertume de mon âme; mais la main de l'Éternel agissait sur moi avec puissance.

The Spirit took me away. Within me I was very bitter and angry [DOU], but I felt Yahweh holding me very powerfully.

15 Et j'arrivai auprès des captifs à Thel-Abib, habitant près du fleuve Chébar, et je m'arrêtai où ils demeuraient, et je demeurai là sept jours, éperdu au milieu d'eux.

I came to the exiles who lived at Tel [town] near the Kebar River/ [south of Babylon]. Then, where they were living, I sat for seven days. I was [about everything that I had seen].

16 Et au bout des sept jours, la parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée en ces mots:

After those seven days had ended, Yahweh gave me this message:

17 Fils de l'homme, je t'ai établi sentinelle sur la maison d'Israël, et de ma bouche tu entendras la parole, et tu les avertiras de par moi.

“You human, I am appointing [to be like] a watchman [MET] for the Israeli people [MTY]. [So] listen to these messages that I will give you, and tell them those messages to warn them.

18 Quand j'aurai dit à l'impie: Tu mourras! et que tu ne l'avertisses pas, et ne parles pas pour détourner l'impie de sa voie impie, afin qu'il vive, cet impie mourra de son péché; mais je te redemanderai son sang.

When I say about some wicked people, ‘They will surely [because of their sins],’ if you do not warn them or tell them that they must turn from their wicked behavior if they want to (save their lives/remain alive), those wicked people will die because of the sins that they have committed, but I will consider that you are responsible for their deaths [MTY].

19 Mais si tu as averti l'impie, et qu'il ne revienne pas de son impiété et de sa voie impie, il mourra de son péché: mais toi tu auras sauvé ton âme.

But if you warn the wicked people and they do not turn from all their wicked behavior [DOU], they will die because of their sins, but you will have saved [from my punishing you].

20 Que si un juste se détourne de sa justice et fait le mal, alors je mettrai devant lui un piège qui le fera tomber, et il mourra. Si tu ne l'as pas averti, il mourra de son péché, et il ne sera tenu aucun compte de la justice qu'il a pratiquée; mais je te redemanderai son sang.

Similarly, when righteous people turn from their righteous behavior and do evil deeds, I will cause bad things to happen [IDM] to them. [But you must warn them. If you do not warn them], and if they do not stop their sinful behavior, they will die because of their sins; I will not think about the righteous things that they [previously], but I will consider that you are responsible for their deaths [MTY].

21 Mais si tu as averti le juste de ne pas pécher, et que ce juste ne pèche pas, il aura la vie, parce qu'il se sera laissé avertir, et toi, tu auras sauvé ton âme.

But if you warn righteous people not to sin, and they do not sin, they will surely remain alive because they [your] warning, and you will have saved [from my punishing you].”

22 Là encore la main de l'Éternel se posa sur moi et Il me dit: Lève-toi, sors et va dans la vallée, et là je te parlerai.

[I felt] Yahweh take control [MTY] of me, and he said to me, “Get up and go [from the city down] to the plain/valley, and there I will speak to you.”

23 Et m'étant levé je sortis et allai dans la vallée, et voici, la gloire de l'Éternel m'y apparut, telle que la gloire que j'avais vue près du fleuve Chébar, et je tombai la face contre terre.

So I got up and went down to the valley. And I saw the glory of Yahweh there, like the glory that I had seen along the Kebar River/Canal. And I prostrated myself on the ground.

24 Et l'Esprit me pénétra et me dressa sur mes pieds. Puis Il me parla et me dit: Va et te renferme dans ta maison!

Then the [of God] entered me and enabled me to stand up. He said to me, “Go into your house and stay inside it.

25 Quant à toi, fils de l'homme, voici, on te mettra des chaînes, et on t'en liera, et tu ne pourras te montrer parmi eux.

People will tie you with ropes, with the result that you will be unable to go out among the people.

26 Et j'attacherai ta langue à ton palais, et tu seras muet et ne seras point pour eux un censeur, car ils sont une race réfractaire.

[Even though] they are very rebellious people, I will cause your tongue to stick to the roof of your mouth, with the result that you will be unable to talk and to rebuke them.

27 Mais quand je t'adresserai la parole, je t'ouvrirai la bouche, pour que tu leur dises: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel. Que celui qui voudra écouter, écoute, et que celui qui n'en voudra rien faire, n'en fasse rien; car ils sont une race réfractaire.

[then] when I speak to [again], I will enable you to talk [MTY], and you will say to them, ‘This is what Yahweh the Lord says,’ [and you will tell them my message]. Those who are willing to [to what you say] will listen, [many] will refuse to listen, because they are rebellious people [MTY].”
