Deutéronome 27
1 Et Moïse et les Anciens d'Israël intimèrent au peuple cet ordre: Gardez la totalité du commandement que je vous prescris en ce jour.
Moses/I, along with the other Israeli leaders, said this to the people: “Obey all the commandments that I am giving to you today.
2 Au jour où vous passerez le Jourdain pour entrer dans le pays que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne, tu érigeras de grandes pierres et les enduiras de chaux et
[Soon] you will cross the Jordan [River] and enter the land that Yahweh, the God whom our ancestors [worshiped], promised to give to you. There, in that very fertile [IDM] land on the [west] side of the Jordan [River], set up some large stones [on Ebal Mountain], and cover them with plaster. Then write on those stones all these laws and teachings/instructions.
3 tu y graveras toutes les paroles de cette loi, quand tu seras passé, afin que tu parviennes au pays que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne, pays découlant de lait et de miel, comme l'Éternel, Dieu de tes pères, te l'a promis.
4 Après le passage du Jourdain, vous ferez donc l'érection de ces pierres, que je vous ordonne aujourd'hui, sur le mont Ebal et vous les enduirez de chaux.
5 Et tu bâtiras là un autel à l'Éternel, ton Dieu, et un autel de pierres sur lesquelles tu ne porteras pas le fer;
And build a stone altar there to offer sacrifices to Yahweh, but do not cut those stones with iron tools.
6 c'est de pierres brutes que tu bâtiras l'Autel de l'Éternel, ton Dieu; et tu y offriras des holocaustes à l'Éternel, ton Dieu.
The altar that you make to burn sacrifices to Yahweh our God must be made with uncut stones.
7 Et tu feras des sacrifices pacifiques; et tu mangeras là et te réjouiras devant l'Éternel, ton Dieu;
And there you must sacrifice offerings to maintain fellowship with Yahweh, and you must eat [your share of those offerings] and rejoice/celebrate in the presence of Yahweh.
8 et tu graveras sur les pierres toutes les paroles de cette Loi, en caractères nets.
And, when you write these laws on those stones, you must write them very clearly.”
9 Alors Moïse et les Prêtres, les Lévites, parlèrent à tout Israël en ces termes: Israël, fais silence et sois-attentif! Aujourd'hui tu es devenu le peuple de l'Éternel, ton Dieu.
Then Moses/I, along with the priests, said to all the Israeli people, “You Israeli people, be quiet and listen [to what I am saying]. Today you have become the people who belong to Yahweh, our God.
10 Obéis donc à la voix de l'Éternel, ton Dieu, et pratique ses commandements et ses statuts que je te prescris aujourd'hui.
So, you must do what he tells you, and obey all the rules and regulations that I am giving to you today.”
11 Et ce jour-là Moïse donna cet ordre au peuple:
On that same day Moses/I said to the Israeli people,
12 Ceux-ci se placeront, pour bénir le peuple, sur le mont Garizim, quand vous aurez passé le Jourdain: Siméon et Lévi et Juda et Issaschar et Joseph et Benjamin.
“After you have crossed over the Jordan [River], the tribes of Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin must stand on Gerizim Mountain and [request Yahweh to] bless the people.
13 Et ceux-ci se placeront, pour prononcer la malédiction, sur le mont Ebal: Ruben, Gad, et Asser et Zabulon, Dan et Nephthali.
And the tribes of Reuben, Gad, Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali must stand on Ebal Mountain and listen to the things that Yahweh will do when he curses the people.
14 Puis les Lévites prendront la parole et diront à tous les hommes d'Israël d'une voix élevée:
The descendants of Levi must shout these words loudly:
15 Maudit soit l'homme qui fait une image sculptée ou jetée en fonte, abomination de l'Éternel, œuvre de main d'artiste, et l'érige en secret. Et tout le peuple répondra et dira: Ainsi soit-il!
‘Yahweh will curse anyone who makes an idol of stone, or of wood, or of metal, and secretly sets it up [and worships it]. Yahweh considers that those things, made by humans [SYN], are detestable/disgusting.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
16 Maudit celui qui avilit son père et sa mère. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!
‘Yahweh will curse anyone who dishonors his father or his mother.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
17 Maudit celui qui déplace la borne de son prochain. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!
‘Yahweh will curse anyone who removes someone else’s markers of property boundaries.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
18 Maudit celui qui fourvoie l'aveugle en chemin. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!
‘Yahweh will curse anyone who leads a blind person to go (in the wrong direction/where that person does not want to go).’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
19 Maudit celui qui fait plier le droit de l'étranger, de l'orphelin et de la veuve. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!
‘Yahweh will curse anyone who deprives foreigners or orphans or widows of the things that the laws state must be done for them.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
20 Maudit celui qui partage le lit de la femme de son père; car il a soulevé la couverture de son père. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!
‘Yahweh will curse anyone who (shows no respect for/disgraces his father) by having sex with [EUP] any of his father’s wives.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
21 Maudit celui qui a commerce avec un animal quelconque. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!
‘Yahweh will curse anyone who has sex [EUP] with any animal.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
22 Maudit celui qui partage le lit de sa sœur, fille de son père ou fille de sa mère. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!
‘Yahweh will curse anyone who has sex with his sister or with his half-sister.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
23 Maudit celui qui partage le lit de sa belle-mère. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!
‘Yahweh will curse anyone who has sex with [EUP] his mother-in-law.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
24 Maudit celui qui frappe son prochain clandestinement. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!
‘Yahweh will curse anyone who secretly murders someone else.’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
25 Maudit celui qui accepte des présents pour attenter à une vie, au sang innocent. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!
‘Yahweh will curse anyone who accepts a bribe to murder someone who (is innocent/has not done something that is wrong.)’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’
26 Maudit celui qui ne met pas à effet les paroles de cette Loi pour la pratiquer. Et tout le peuple dira: Ainsi soit-il!
‘Yahweh will curse anyone who disobeys these laws and refuses to declare that these laws [are good].’ And all the people must reply, ‘(Amen/We want that to happen).’”
