2 Chroniques 24

1 Joas avait sept ans à son avènement, et il régna quarante ans à Jérusalem. Or le nom de sa mère était Tsibia de Béerséba.

[was] a son of Seven years Joash when became king he and forty year[s] he reigned in Jerusalem and [the] name of mother his [was] Zibiah from Beer Sheba.

2 Et Joas fit ce qui est bien aux yeux de l'Éternel, tant que vécut le Prêtre Joiada.

And he did Joash the right in [the] eyes of Yahweh all [the] days of Jehoiada the priest.

3 Et Joiada prit pour Joas deux femmes; et il engendra des fils et des filles.

And he took for him Jehoiada wives two and he fathered sons and daughters.

4 Et il arriva dans la suite que Joas eut la pensée de restaurer le Temple de l'Éternel.

And it was after this it was with [the] heart of Joash to renew [the] house of Yahweh.

5 A cet effet il assembla les Prêtres et les Lévites et leur dit: Rendez-vous dans les villes de Juda et recueillez dans tout Israël de l'argent pour réparer la Maison de votre Dieu, annuellement, et accélérez cette affaire. Mais les Lévites n'usèrent pas de célérité.

And he assembled the priests and the Levites and he said to them go out to [the] cities of Judah and collect from all Israel money to repair - [the] house of God your as often as a year in a year and you you will do quickly the matter and not they acted quickly the Levites.

6 Alors le roi manda Joiada, le Grand-Prêtre, et lui dit: Pourquoi n'as-tu pas surveillé les Lévites pour qu'ils fissent en Juda et à Jérusalem le recouvrement de la taxe de Moïse, serviteur de l'Éternel, et de l'Assemblée d'Israël pour la Tente du Témoignage?

And he summoned the king Jehoiada the chief and he said to him why? not have you required on the Levites to bring from Judah and from Jerusalem [the] tax of Moses [the] servant of Yahweh and of the assembly of Israel to [the] tent of the testimony.

7 Car Athalie, l'impie, ses fils ont abîmé la Maison de Dieu, et même de tous les objets consacrés du Temple de l'Éternel ils ont fabriqué des Baals.

For Athaliah the wickedness sons her they had broken into [the] house of God and also all [the] holy things of [the] house of Yahweh they had used for the Baals.

8 Et le roi ordonna de faire un coffre, qui fut placé à la porte du Temple de l'Éternel en dehors.

And he said the king and they made a chest one and they put it at [the] gate of [the] house of Yahweh [the] outside towards.

9 Et l'on publia dans Juda et dans Jérusalem qu'on eût à venir acquitter à l'Éternel la taxe de Moïse, serviteur de Dieu, imposée à Israël dans le Désert.

And they made a proclamation in Judah and in Jerusalem to bring to Yahweh [the] tax of Moses [the] servant of God on Israel in the wilderness.

10 Et tous les chefs et tout le peuple furent réjouis, et l'on apporta et versa dans le coffre, jusqu'à ce que les versements fussent au complet.

And they were glad all the officials and all the people and they brought and they threw to the chest until finished.

11 Et quand c'était le moment de faire apporter le coffre à l'officier du roi par les soins des Lévites, et quand ils voyaient qu'il y avait beaucoup d'argent, alors arrivaient le secrétaire du roi et l'officier du Grand-Prêtre, et ils vidaient le coffre, puis le prenaient et le remettaient à sa place; c'était pour eux l'affaire de chaque jour, et ils recueillirent de l'argent en quantité.

And it was at [the] time [when] someone brought the chest to [the] overseer of the king by [the] hand of the Levites and just as saw they that [was] much the money and he came [the] scribe of the king and [the] officer of [the] priest of the head so they may pour out the chest and they took it and they returned it to place its thus they did to a day - in a day and they gathered money to abundance.

12 Et le roi: et Joiada le remirent à l'entrepreneur des travaux dans le Temple de l'Éternel, lequel prenait à gages des tailleurs de pierre et des charpentiers pour restaurer le Temple de l'Éternel, et aussi des ouvriers en fer et en airain pour réparer le Temple de l'Éternel.

And he gave it the king and Jehoiada to [the] doer of [the] work of [the] service of [the] house of Yahweh and they were hiring stone cutters and craftsmen to renew [the] house of Yahweh and also craftsmen of iron and bronze to repair [the] house of Yahweh.

13 Et les entrepreneurs de l'ouvrage s'exécutèrent et les réparations à faire avancèrent par leurs mains, et ils remirent en état le Temple de Dieu et le consolidèrent.

And they worked [the] doers of the work and it went up [the] repair for the work by hand their and they erected [the] house of God on measurement its and they strengthened it.

14 Et quand ils l'eurent achevé, ils apportèrent devant le roi et Joiada le reste de l'argent, et l'on en fit des ustensiles pour le Temple de l'Éternel, des ustensiles pour le service et le sacrifice et des jattes et de la vaisselle d'or et d'argent. Et l'on offrit des holocaustes dans le Temple de l'Éternel, constamment tant que vécut Joiada.

And just as had finished they they brought before the king and Jehoiada [the] remainder of the money and someone made it articles for [the] house of Yahweh articles of service and offering up and pans and articles of gold and silver and they were offering up burnt offerings in [the] house of Yahweh continually all [the] days of Jehoiada.

15 Mais Joiada était devenu vieux, et il était comblé de jours et il mourut; et il avait à sa mort l'âge de cent trente ans.

And he became old Jehoiada and he was satisfied days and he died a son of one hundred and thirty year[s] at death his.

16 Et on lui donna la sépulture dans la Cité de David avec les rois, parce qu'il avait fait du bien en Israël et pour Dieu et sa Maison.

And people buried him in [the] city of David with the kings for he had done good in Israel and with God and house his.

17 Et après la mort de Joiada les princes de Juda vinrent s'incliner devant le roi; alors le roi les écouta.

And after [the] death of Jehoiada they came [the] leaders of Judah and they bowed down to the king then he listened the king to them.

18 Et ils abandonnèrent le Temple de l'Éternel, Dieu de leurs pères, et servirent les Astartés et les idoles, et Juda et Jérusalem furent un objet de colère pour s'être rendus coupables de la sorte.

And they abandoned [the] house of Yahweh [the] God of ancestors their and they served the Asherah poles and the idols and it was wrath towards Judah and Jerusalem in guilt their this.

19 Et Il envoya parmi eux, pour les ramener à l'Éternel, des prophètes qui les sommèrent, mais ils ne prêtèrent pas l'oreille.

And he sent among them prophets to bring back them to Yahweh and they warned them and not they gave ear.

20 Cependant Zacharie, fils du Prêtre Joiada, fut revêtu de l'esprit de Dieu, et il se présenta de haut lieu devant le peuple et il lui dit: Ainsi parle Dieu: Pourquoi transgressez-vous les commandements de l'Éternel? Vous ne vous en trouverez pas bien! Puisque vous abandonnez l'Éternel, Il vous abandonnera.

And [the] spirit of God it clothed Zechariah [the] son of Jehoiada the priest and he stood above the people and he said to them thus - he says God why? [are] you transgressing [the] commandments of Yahweh and not you will prosper for you have forsaken Yahweh and he has forsaken you.

21 Et ils conjurèrent contre lui et ils l'assommèrent à coups de pierres par l'ordre du roi, dans le parvis du Temple de l'Éternel.

And they conspired on him and they stoned him stone[s] by [the] command of the king in [the] courtyard of [the] house of Yahweh.

22 Et le roi Joas ne se souvint pas de l'amour que lui avait témoigné Joiada, son père, et il fut le meurtrier de son fils. Et en mourant celui-ci dit: L'Éternel voit et redemandera.

And not he remembered Joash the king the loyalty which he had done Jehoiada father his with him and he killed son his and when dying he he said may he see Yahweh and may he require.

23 Et l'année révolue, l'armée des Syriens s'avança contre Joas, et ils envahirent Juda et Jérusalem et massacrèrent tous les princes du peuple dans son sein, et envoyèrent tout leur butin au roi à Damas.

And it was - to [the] circuit of the year it came up on him [the] army of Aram and they came to Judah and Jerusalem and they destroyed all [the] leaders of the people from [the] people and all booty their they sent to [the] king of Damascus.

24 Bien que ce fût avec un petit nombre d'hommes qu'arrivât l'armée des Syriens, cependant l'Éternel livra entre leurs mains une armée très considérable, parce qu'ils avaient abandonné l'Éternel, Dieu de leurs pères; et les Syriens exécutèrent sur Joas les jugements.

For with smallness of men they came - [the] army of Aram and Yahweh he gave in hand their an army for multitude exceedingly for they had forsaken Yahweh [the] God of ancestors their and with Joash they did judgment.

25 Et après le départ des Syriens qui l'avaient laissé avec beaucoup de blessures, ses serviteurs conjurèrent contre lui, à cause du meurtre du fils du Prêtre Joiada, et ils l'égorgèrent sur son lit, et il mourut. Et on l'inhuma dans la Cité de David, mais il ne reçut pas la sépulture dans les tombeaux des rois.

And when went they from him for they had left him (with sicknesses *Qk) great they conspired on him own servants his in [the] blood of [the] sons of Jehoiada the priest and they killed him on bed his and he died and they buried him in [the] city of David and not they buried him in [the] graves of the kings.

26 Et voici ceux qui conjurèrent contre lui: Zabad, fils de Simeath, l'Ammonite, et Jozabad, fils de Simrith, la Moabite.

And these [are] the [ones who] conspired on him Zabad [the] son of Shimeath the Ammonite [woman] and Jehozabad [the] son of Shimrith the Moabite [woman].

27 D'ailleurs quant à ses fils et à la grandeur du tribut à lui imposé et aux constructions faites à la Maison de Dieu, ces choses sont consignées dans le commentaire du livre des rois. Et Amatsia, son fils, devint roi en sa place.

And sons his (it will be numerous of *QK) the oracle on him and [the] founding of [the] house of God there they [are] written on [the] record of [the] scroll of the kings and he became king Amaziah son his in place of him.
