Matthieu 5
1 Jésus, voyant cette multitude, monta sur la montagne, et quand il se fut assis, ses disciples s'approchèrent de lui.
Seeing the multitudes, he went up onto the mountain. When he had sat down, his disciples came to him.
2 Alors, ouvrant la bouche, il se mit à les enseigner, disant:
He opened his mouth and taught them, saying,
3 «Heureux les pauvres en esprit, car le royaume des cieux est à eux.»
“Blessed are the poor in spirit! for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven (God).
4 «Heureux les affligés, car ils seront consolés.»
Blessed are those who mourn! for they shall be comforted.
5 «Heureux ceux qui sont doux, car ils posséderont la terre.»
Blessed are the meek! for they shall inherit the Land.
6 «Heureux ceux qui ont faim et soif de la justice, car ils seront rassasiés.»
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness! For they shall be filled.
7 «Heureux les miséricordieux, car ils obtiendront miséricorde.»
Blessed are the merciful! for they shall obtain mercy.
8 «Heureux ceux qui ont le coeur pur, car ils verront Dieu.»
Blessed are the pure in heart! for they shall see God.
9 «Heureux les pacifiques, car ils seront appelés fils de Dieu.»
Blessed are the peacemakers! for they shall be called children of God.
10 «Heureux ceux qui sont persécutés pour la justice, car le royaume des cieux est à eux.»
Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake! for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven (God).
11 «Vous serez heureux, lorsqu'on vous insultera, qu'on vous persécutera et qu'on dira de vous toute sorte de mal à cause de moi.
“Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Réjouissez-vous alors et tressaillez de joie, car votre récompense est grande dans les cieux: c'est ainsi qu'on a persécuté les prophètes qui ont été avant vous.»
Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
13 «Vous êtes le sel de la terre; mais si le sel perd sa saveur, avec quoi la lui rendra-t-on? Il n'est plus bon qu'à être jeté dehors et foulé aux pieds par les hommes.
“You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.
14 Vous êtes la lumière du monde. Une ville située au sommet d'une montagne, ne peut être cachée.
You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden.
15 On n'allume pas non plus une lampe pour la mettre sous le boisseau, mais on la met sur son pied, et elle brille pour tous ceux qui sont dans la maison.
Neither do you light a lamp, and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house.
16 Qu'ainsi votre lumière brille devant les hommes, afin qu'ils voient vos bonnes oeuvres, et qu'ils glorifient votre Père qui est dans les cieux.»
Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify 'Avikah shebashamayim ·your Father in Heaven·.
17 «Ne pensez pas que je sois venu abolir la Loi et les Prophètes: je ne suis pas venu abolir, mais accomplir;
“Don’t think that I came to destroy the Torah ·Teaching· or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill.
18 car je vous dis, en vérité, que, jusqu’à ce que le ciel et la terre passent, pas un iota, pas un trait de lettre de la Loi ne passera, que tout ne soit exécuté.
For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the Torah ·Teaching·, until all things are accomplished.
19 Celui donc qui aura violé un des moindres de ces commandements, et aura, par son exemple, appris aux hommes à les violer, sera appelé le plus petit dans le royaume des cieux; mais celui qui les aura observés, et aura appris aux hommes à les observer, celui-là sera appelé grand dans le royaume des cieux.
Therefore, whoever shall disobey the least mitzvot ·instructions· and teaches others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven (God). But whoever shall obey them and so teaches shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven (God).
20 Car je vous dis que si votre justice ne l'emporte de beaucoup sur celle des scribes et des pharisiens, vous n'entrerez pas dans le royaume des cieux.»
For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the Torah-Teachers and Pharisees [Separated], there is no way you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven (God).
21 «Vous avez entendu qu'il a été dit aux anciens: «Tu ne tueras point; celui qui aura tué sera condamné.»
“You have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not murder;’ and ‘Whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’
22 Mais moi, je vous dis que quiconque se met en colère contre son frère, mérite la condamnation. Celui qui dira à son frère «raca, » mérite d'être condamné par le sanhédrin; celui qui lui dira «scélérat, » mérite d'être jeté dans la Géhenne ardente.» (Geenna g1067)
But I tell you, that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause will be in danger of the judgment; and whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca! ·Vain, empty, worthless, to spit upon, good-for-nothing·!’ will be in danger of the Sanhedrin ·Sitting together·; and whoever says, ‘Fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of Gehenna (Place of fiery torment for the dead). 23 «Si donc tu présentes ton offrande à l'autel, et que, là, il te souvienne que ton frère a quelque chose contre toi,
“If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,
24 laisse là ton offrande, devant l'autel; va d'abord te réconcilier avec ton frère, puis viens présenter ton offrande.
leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
25 Accorde-toi promptement avec ta partie adverse, même pendant que tu es en chemin avec elle, de peur qu'elle ne te livre au juge, le juge au sergent, et que tu ne sois jeté en prison.
Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are with him on the way; lest perhaps the prosecutor deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.
26 En vérité, je te dis que tu n'en sortiras pas que tu n'aies payé jusqu'au dernier sou.»
Most certainly I tell you, you shall by no means get out of there, until you have paid the last quadrans coin (Roman quarter coin about 3/8 of a cent).
27 «Vous avez entendu qu'il a été dit: «Tu ne commettras point adultère.»
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not moicheuo ·commit adultery·;’
28 Mais moi, je vous dis que quiconque regarde une femme pour la convoiter, a déjà commis l'adultère dans son coeur.»
but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has moicheuo ·committed adultery· with her already in his heart.
29 «Si ton oeil droit est pour toi une occasion de chute, arrache-le et le jette loin de toi; car il vaut mieux pour toi qu'un seul de tes membres périsse, que si ton corps tout entier était jeté dans la Géhenne. (Geenna g1067)
If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna (Place of fiery torment for the dead). (Geenna g1067)
30 Si ta main droite est pour toi une occasion de chute, coupe-la et la jette loin de toi; car il vaut mieux pour toi qu'un seul de tes membres périsse, que si ton corps tout entier allait dans la Géhenne.» (Geenna g1067)

31 «Il a été dit: «Que celui qui répudie sa femme, lui donne un acte de divorce.»
“It was also said, ‘Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a get ·certificate of divorce·,’
32 Mais moi, je vous dis que quiconque répudie sa femme, si ce n'est pour raison d'infidélité, la pousse à devenir adultère, et que celui qui épouse une femme répudiée, commet un adultère.»
but I tell you that whoever puts away his wife, except for the cause of porhneia ·sexual immorality·, makes her moicheuo ·become an adulterer·; and whoever marries her when she is put away commits moichao ·act of adultery·.
33 «Vous avez encore entendu qu'il a été dit aux anciens: «Tu ne te parjureras point, mais tu t'acquitteras envers le Seigneur des serments que tu auras faits»,
“Again you have heard that it was said to them of old time, ‘You shall not make false vows, but shall perform to MarYah [Master Yahweh] your vows,’
34 Mais moi, je vous dis de ne point jurer du tout, ni par le ciel, car c'est le trône de Dieu;
but I tell you, don’t swear at all: neither 'by heaven', for it is the throne of God;
35 ni par la terre, car c'est son marchepied; ni par Jérusalem, car c'est la ville du grand Roi.
nor 'by the earth', for it is his footstool; nor by Jerusalem [City of peace], for it is the city of the great King.
36 Ne jure pas non plus par ta tête, car tu ne peux rendre blanc ou noir un seul de tes cheveux.
Neither shall you swear by your head, for you can’t make one hair white or black.
37 Que votre parole soit: Oui! oui! Non! non! Ce qui se dit de plus vient du malin.
But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.
38 Vous avez entendu qu'il a été dit: «Oeil pour oeil et dent pour dent.»
“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’
39 Mais moi, je vous dis de ne point tenir tête au méchant. Si quelqu'un te frappe sur la joue droite, présente-lui l'autre.
But I tell you, don’t resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 Si quelqu'un veut t'intenter un procès pour prendre ta tunique, abandonne-lui aussi le manteau.
If anyone sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also.
41 Si quelqu'un te met en réquisition pour faire un mille, fais-en deux avec lui.
Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.
42 Donne à qui te demande, et n'évite pas celui qui veut t'emprunter.»
Give to him who asks you, and don’t turn away him who desires to borrow from you.
43 Vous avez entendu qu'il a été dit: «Tu aimeras ton prochain, et tu haïras ton ennemi.»
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall show agapao ·total devoted love· to your neighbor and hate and detest your enemy.’
44 Mais moi, je vous dis: Aimez vos ennemis et priez pour ceux qui vous persécutent:
But I tell you, show agapao ·total devoted love· to your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate and detest you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,
45 afin que vous soyez fils de votre Père qui est dans les cieux; car il fait lever son soleil sur les méchants et sur les bons, et il répand sa pluie sur les justes et sur les injustes.
that you may be children of 'Avikah shebashamayim ·your Father in Heaven·. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.
46 Si vous aimez ceux qui vous aiment, quelle récompense méritez-vous? Les publicains mêmes n'en font-ils pas autant?
For if you show agapao ·total devoted love· those who show agapao ·total devoted love· to you, what reward do you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?
47 Et si vous ne saluez que vos frères, que faites-vous d'extraordinaire? Les païens mêmes n'en font-ils pas autant?
If you only greet your friends, what more do you do than others? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?
48 Soyez donc parfaits comme votre Père céleste est parfait.»
Therefore you shall be perfect, just as 'Avikah shebashamayim ·your Father in Heaven· is perfect.
