Matthieu 4
1 Alors Jésus fut emmené par l'Esprit au désert, pour être tenté par le diable.
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
2 Il jeûna quarante jours et quarante nuits, après quoi il eut faim.
And having fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward he was hungry.
3 Et le tentateur l'ayant abordé, lui dit: «Si tu es Fils de Dieu, ordonne que ces pierres se changent en pains.»
And after he who tempts came, he said to him, If thou are the Son of God, speak so that these stones may become bread.
4 Mais Jésus répondit: Il est écrit: «l’homme ne vivra pas de pain seulement, mais de toute parole qui sort de la bouche de Dieu.»
But having answered, he said, It is written, Man will not live on bread alone, but on every word coming out through the mouth of God.
5 Alors le diable le transporta dans la ville sainte, le posa à l'extrémité de l'aile du temple,
Then the devil takes him into the holy city, and stands him on the pinnacle of the temple.
6 et lui dit: «Si tu es Fils de Dieu, jette-toi en bas; car il est écrit: «Il donnera des «ordres à ses anges, à ton sujet; et ils te porteront sur leurs bras, de peur que ton pied ne heurte contre une pierre.»
And he says to him, If thou are the Son of God, cast thyself down, for it is written, He will command his agents about thee, and, They will take thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
7 Jésus lui dit: Il est écrit aussi: «Tu ne tenteras point le Seigneur ton Dieu.»
Jesus said to him, Again it is written, Thou shall not challenge the Lord thy God.
8 Le diable le transporta encore sur une montagne très-haute, lui montra tous les royaumes du monde et leur gloire,
Again, the devil takes him onto an exceedingly high mountain, and shows him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them.
9 et lui dit: «Je te donnerai tout cela, si, te jetant à mes pieds, tu m'adores.»
And he says to him, All these things I give thee, if after falling down, thou will worship me.
10 Jésus lui dit: Retire-toi, Satan; car il est écrit: «Tu adoreras le Seigneur ton Dieu, et tu le serviras lui seul.»
Then Jesus says to him, Get thee behind me, Satan, for it is written, Thou shall worship the Lord thy God, and him only thou shall serve.
11 Alors le diable le quitta; et des anges s'approchèrent, et ils le servirent.
Then the devil leaves him, and behold, agents came and served him.
12 Jésus ayant appris que Jean avait été mis en prison, se retira en Galilée.
Now when Jesus heard that John was delivered up, he departed into Galilee.
13 Il quitta Nazareth et alla s'établir à Capernaoum, ville située au bord de la mer, dans le territoire de Zabulon et de Nephthali,
And having left Nazareth behind, after coming, he dwelt in Capernaum by the sea in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali,
14 afin que s'accomplît ce qui a été dit par Esaïe, le prophète:
so that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which says,
15 «La terre de Zabulon et la terre de Nephthali, ce pays qui s’étend vers la mer jusqu'au delà du Jourdain, la Galilée des Gentils,
The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,
16 ce pays, qui était plongé dans les ténèbres, a vu une grande lumière, et la lumière s'est levée sur ceux qui étaient dans la région et dans l’ombre de la mort.»
the people who dwell in darkness saw a great light, and to those who dwell in the region and shadow of death, light sprang up to them.
17 Dès lors Jésus se mit à prêcher, disant: «Repentez-vous, car le royaume des cieux est proche.»
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent ye, for the kingdom of the heavens has approached.
18 Comme il cheminait le long de la mer de Galilée, il vit deux frères, Simon, appelé Pierre, et André, son frère, qui jetaient leurs filets dans la mer, car ils étaient pêcheurs.
And walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.
19 Et il leur dit: «Venez, suivez-moi, et je vous ferai pêcheurs d'hommes.»
And he says to them, Come behind me, and I will make you fishermen of men.
20 Aussitôt ils quittèrent leurs filets, et le suivirent.
And straightaway having left the nets, they followed him.
21 Puis, un peu plus loin, il vit deux autres frères, Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et Jean, son frère, qui raccommodaient leurs filets dans leur barque avec Zébédée leur père, et il les appela.
And having gone on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. And he called them.
22 Aussitôt ils quittèrent leur barque et leur père, et le suivirent.
And straightaway having left the boat and their father, they followed him.
23 Jésus allait par toute la Galilée, enseignant dans les synagogues, prêchant la bonne nouvelle du royaume et guérissant
And Jesus went around all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
24 toute maladie et toute infirmité parmi le peuple. Sa renommée se répandit dans toute la Syrie, et on lui amena tous ceux qui se portaient mal, qui étaient affligés de maladies et de douleurs diverses, des démoniaques, des lunatiques, des paralytiques, et il les guérit.
And his fame went forth into all Syria. And they brought to him all those faring badly with various diseases, and gripped with pain, and being demon-possessed, and being lunatic, and paralyzed. And he healed them.
25 Une grande foule le suivit de la Galilée, de la Décapole, de Jérusalem, de la Judée et d'au delà du Jourdain.
And many multitudes from Galilee and Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and beyond the Jordan followed him.
