Matthieu 24
1 Jésus sortit du temple et s'éloigna. Ses disciples s'approchèrent de lui, pour lui en faire remarquer les constructions;
And Jesus went out of the Temple, and on the way his disciples came to him, pointing out the buildings of the Temple.
2 mais il leur répondit: «Vous voyez tous ces bâtiments? En vérité, je vous dis qu'il n'y restera pierre sur pierre qui ne soit renversée.»
But he, answering, said to them, See you not all these things? truly I say to you that here there will not be one stone resting on another, which will not be pulled down.
3 Comme il était assis sur la montagne des Oliviers, ses disciples vinrent lui dire en particulier: «Dis-nous quand cela doit avoir lieu, et quel sera le signe de ton avènement et de la fin du monde?» (aiōn g165)
And while he was seated on the Mountain of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, Make clear to us, when will these things be? and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the world? (aiōn g165)
4 Jésus leur répondit: «Prenez garde qu'on ne vous séduise,
And Jesus said to them in answer, Take care that you are not tricked.
5 car plusieurs viendront sous mon nom, disant: «C'est moi qui suis le Messie; » et ils séduiront beaucoup de monde.
For people will come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and a number will be turned from the true way through them.
6 Vous entendrez parler de guerres et de bruits de guerre; gardez-vous de vous en alarmer, car il faut que toutes ces choses arrivent; mais ce ne sera pas encore la fin.
And news will come to you of wars and talk of wars: do not be troubled, for these things have to be; but it is still not the end.
7 Une nation s'élèvera, en effet, contre une nation, et un royaume contre un royaume, et il y aura des famines et des tremblements de terre en divers lieux.
For nation will be moved against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and men will be without food, and the earth will be shaking in different places;
8 Toutes ces calamités sont le commencement des douleurs.
But all these things are the first of the troubles.
9 Alors on cherchera à vous écraser, on vous mettra à mort, et vous serez haïs de toutes les nations à cause de mon nom.
Then they will be cruel to you, and will put you to death: and you will be hated by all nations because of my name.
10 Dans ces circonstances, beaucoup trébucheront; ils se trahiront et se haïront les uns les autres.
And numbers of people will be turned from the right way, and will give one another up and have hate for one another.
11 Plusieurs faux prophètes s'élèveront et séduiront bien des gens;
And a number of false prophets will come, causing error.
12 et la charité du plus grand nombre se refroidira à cause des progrès croissants de l'iniquité;
And because wrongdoing will be increased, the love of most people will become cold.
13 mais celui qui persévérera jusqu’à la fin, sera sauvé.
But he who goes through to the end will get salvation.
14 Et cette bonne nouvelle du royaume sera publiée dans le monde entier, en témoignage à toutes les nations. Alors viendra la fin.
And this good news of the kingdom will be given through all the world for a witness to all nations; and then the end will come.
15 Quand donc vous verrez, établie dans le lieu saint, l'abomination cause de la désolation, dont parle le prophète Daniel (que celui qui lit y réfléchisse),
When, then, you see in the holy place the unclean thing which makes destruction, of which word was given by Daniel the prophet (let this be clear to the reader),
16 alors, que ceux qui sont en Judée, s'enfuient dans les montagnes;
Then let those who are in Judaea go in flight to the mountains:
17 que celui qui est sur le toit ne descende pas prendre ce qu'il a dans sa maison,
Let not him who is on the house-top go down to take anything out of his house:
18 et que celui qui est dans son champ ne revienne pas en arrière, pour prendre son manteau.
And let not him who is in the field go back to get his coat.
19 Malheur aux femmes qui seront enceintes et à celles qui allaiteront en ce temps-là!
But it will be hard for women who are with child and for those with babies at the breast in those days.
20 Priez pour que votre fuite n'arrive pas en hiver, ni un jour de sabbat;
And say a prayer that your flight may not be in the winter, or on a Sabbath.
21 car il y aura alors une grande détresse, une détresse telle qu'il n'y en a point eu depuis le commencement du monde jusqu’à nos jours, et qu'il n'y en aura jamais;
Because in those days there will be great sorrow, such as there has not been from the start of the world till now, or ever will be.
22 et si ce temps n'était abrégé, nul n'échapperait; mais il sera abrégé à cause des élus.
And if those days had not been made short there would have been no salvation for any, but because of the saints those days will be made short.
23 Si l'on vous dit alors, «le Messie est ici, » ou bien «le Messie est là, » ne le croyez point;
Then if any man says to you, See, here is the Christ, or, Here; do not put faith in him;
24 car il s'élèvera de faux Messies et de faux prophètes, qui feront de grands miracles et des prodiges, au point de séduire, s'il était possible, les élus eux-mêmes:
For there will come up false Christs, and false prophets, who will do great signs and wonders; so that if possible even the saints might be tricked.
25 vous voilà prévenus.
See, I have made it clear to you before it comes about.
26 Si donc l'on vous dit, «il est dans tel désert, » n'y allez point; «il est dans tel et tel appartement, » n'en croyez rien.
If, then, they say to you, See, he is in the waste land; go not out: See, he is in the inner rooms; put no faith in it.
27 Car de même que l'éclair part de l'orient et brille jusqu'en occident, ainsi sera l'avènement du Fils de l'homme.
Because as in a thunderstorm the bright light coming from the east is seen even in the west; so will be the coming of the Son of man.
28 Partout où sera le corps mort, les vautours s'y rassembleront.
Wherever the dead body is, there will the eagles come together.
29 Aussitôt après ces temps de détresse, le soleil pâlira, la lune refusera sa lumière, les étoiles tomberont du ciel et les puissances des cieux seront ébranlées.
But straight away, after the trouble of those days, the sun will be made dark and the moon will not give her light and the stars will come down from heaven and the powers of heaven will be moved:
30 Alors paraîtra dans le ciel le signe du Fils de l'homme, et tous les peuples de la terre se frapperont la poitrine, et ils verront le Fils de l'homme qui viendra sur les nuées du ciel, revêtu d'une grande puissance et d'une grande gloire.
And then the sign of the Son of man will be seen in heaven: and then all the nations of the earth will have sorrow, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 Il enverra ses anges, qui, au son éclatant de la trompette, rassembleront ses élus des quatre vents, d'un bout du monde à l'autre.
And he will send out his angels with a great sound of a horn, and they will get his saints together from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
32 Tirez instruction de la comparaison avec le figuier. Quand sa branche devient tendre et que les feuilles poussent, vous connaissez que l'été est proche;
Now take an example from the fig-tree: when her branch has become soft and puts out its leaves, you are certain that the summer is near;
33 de même, quand vous verrez tous ces événements, sachez que le Fils de l'homme est proche: il est à vos portes.
Even so, when you see all these things, you may be certain that he is near, even at the doors.
34 En vérité, je vous dis que cette génération ne passera point, que tous ces événements n'arrivent.
Truly I say to you, This generation will not come to an end till all these things are complete.
35 Le ciel et la terre passeront, mais mes paroles ne passeront point.
Heaven and earth will come to an end, but my words will not come to an end.
36 Quant au jour et à l'heure, nul ne les sait, pas même les anges du ciel, mais mon Père seul.
But of that day and hour no one has knowledge, not even the angels in heaven, or the Son, but the Father only.
37 Ce qui se passa au temps de Noé, se passera également à l'avènement du Fils de l'homme.
And as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of man.
38 Dans les temps qui précédèrent le déluge, on mangeait et l'on buvait, on se mariait et l'on donnait en mariage, jusqu'au jour où Noé entra dans l'arche,
Because as in those days before the overflowing of the waters, they were feasting and taking wives and getting married, till the day when Noah went into the ark,
39 et l'on ne se douta de rien, jusqu’à ce que vint le déluge, qui emporta tous les hommes: il en sera de même à l’avènement du Fils de l'homme.
And they had no care till the waters came and took them all away; so will be the coming of the Son of man.
40 Alors, de deux hommes qui seront dans un champ, l'un sera pris, l'autre laissé;
Then two men will be in the field; one is taken, and one let go;
41 de deux femmes qui moudront à la meule, l'une sera prise, l'autre laissée.
Two women will be crushing grain; one is taken, and one let go.
42 Veillez donc, puisque vous ne savez quel jour votre Seigneur doit venir.
Be watching, then! for you have no knowledge on what day your Lord will come.
43 Apprenez que si le maître de la maison savait à quelle heure de la nuit les voleurs doivent venir, il veillerait et ne laisserait pas forcer sa maison.
But be certain of this, that if the master of the house had had knowledge of the time when the thief was coming, he would have been watching, and would not have let his house be broken into.
44 Vous donc aussi, tenez-vous prêts, car le Fils de l'homme viendra à l'heure où vous n'y penserez pas.
Be ready then; for at a time which you have no thought of the Son of man will come.
45 Quel est le serviteur fidèle et sensé que son maître a mis à la tête de ses gens, pour leur distribuer la nourriture quand il est temps?
Who is the true and wise servant, whom his lord has put over those in his house, to give them their food at the right time?
46 Heureux ce serviteur que le maître, à son arrivée, trouvera agissant de la sorte!
A blessing on that servant, who will be doing so when his lord comes.
47 En vérité, je vous dis qu'il lui donnera l'administration de tous ses biens.
Truly, I say to you, he will put him over all he has.
48 Mais, si c'est un méchant serviteur, qui dise en lui-même, «mon maître tarde à venir, »
But if that evil servant says in his heart, My lord is a long time in coming;
49 qui se mette à battre ses camarades, et qui mange et boive avec les ivrognes,
And is cruel to the other servants, taking his pleasure with those who are overcome with wine;
50 son maître viendra le jour où il ne s'y attend pas et à l'heure qu'il ne sait pas,
The lord of that servant will come in a day when he is not looking for him, and in an hour of which he has no knowledge,
51 il le coupera en deux, et lui assignera son lot avec les hypocrites: c'est là qu'il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents.
And will have him cut in two, and will give him a part in the fate of the false ones: there will be weeping and cries of sorrow.
