Luc 16
1 Jésus dit aussi à ses disciples: «Un homme riche avait un économe qu'on lui dénonça comme dilapidant ses biens.
And he spoke a parable to his disciples. There was a certain rich man, who had a steward; and accusations were brought to him of him, that he squandered his property.
2 Il le fit venir, et lui dit: «Qu'est-ce que j'entends dire de toi? Rends-moi compte de ta gestion, car tu ne pourras plus gérer mes biens.»
And his lord called him, and said to him: What is this that I hear of thee? Render to me an account of thy stewardship; for thou canst no longer be my steward.
3 L'économe dit en lui-même: «Que ferai-je, puisque mon maître m'ôte la gestion de ses biens? — Bêcher? je n'en ai pas la force. — Mendier? j'en ai honte...
And the steward said with himself: What shall I do, since my lord is about to take from me the stewardship? To dig, I am unable; and to become a beggar, I am ashamed.
4 je sais ce que je ferai, afin que, lorsque j'aurai été renvoyé de mon emploi, il y ait des gens qui me reçoivent dans leurs maisons.»
I know what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me to their houses.
5 Et ayant fait venir les uns après les autres tous les débiteurs de son maître, il dit au premier: «Combien dois-tu à mon maître?»
And he called each one of his lord's debtors; and he said to the first, How much owest thou to my lord?
6 Celui-ci répondit: «Cent barils d'huile.» — «Prends ton billet, lui dit-il, assieds-toi, et dépêche-toi d'en faire un de cinquante.»
And he said to him, One hundred measures of oil. And he said to him: Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write Fifty measures.
7 Il dit ensuite à un autre: «Et toi, combien dois-tu?» Celui-ci répondit: «Cent mesures de blé.» — «Prends ton billet, lui dit-il, et fais-en un de quatre-vingts.»
And he said to another: And how much owest thou to my lord? And he said to him, One hundred cors of wheat. And he said to him: Take thy bill, and sit down, and write Eighty cors.
8 Et le maître loua le savoir-faire de cet économe infidèle; car les enfants de ce siècle sont bien plus habiles entre eux que ne le sont les enfants de lumière. (aiōn g165)
And our Lord praised the unrighteous steward, for having acted sagaciously: for the children of this world are more sagacious than the children of light, in this their generation. (aiōn g165)
9 Moi aussi je vous dis: Faites-vous des amis avec les richesses, source de malversations, afin que, lorsqu'elles vous manqueront, ils vous reçoivent dans les tabernacles éternels. (aiōnios g166)
And I also say to you: Make to yourselves friends, with this unrighteous mammon; so that when it is finished, they may receive you to their everlasting tabernacles. (aiōnios g166)
10 «Celui qui est fidèle en peu, l'est aussi en beaucoup; et celui qui malverse dans peu, malverse aussi dans beaucoup.
He that is faithful in the little, is also faithful in the much; and he that is unjust in the little, is also unjust in the much.
11 Si donc vous n'avez pas été fidèles dans les richesses, source de malversations, qui vous confiera les véritables richesses?
If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will intrust to you the reality?
12 Et si vous n'avez pas été fidèles dans ce qui est à autrui, qui vous donnera ce qui est à vous?
And if ye have not been found faithful in that which is not yours, who will give to you that which is yours?
13 Nul serviteur ne peut servir deux maîtres; car, ou il haïra l'un et aimera l'autre, ou il s'attachera à l'un et méprisera l'autre: vous ne pouvez servir Dieu et Mammon.»
There is no servant, who can serve two lords. For, either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will honor the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
14 Les pharisiens aussi, qui étaient avares, écoutaient toutes ces choses et se moquaient de lui.
And the Pharisees, when they heard all these things, because they loved money, derided him.
15 Il leur dit: «Vous êtes de ces gens qui veulent se faire passer pour justes aux yeux des hommes; mais Dieu connaît vos coeurs; car ce qui est grand pour les hommes, est une abomination devant Dieu.
And Jesus said to them: Ye are such as justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your heart: for that which is exalted among men, is abominable before God.
16 «La Loi et les Prophètes vont jusqu’à Jean; dès lors le royaume de Dieu est annoncé, et l'on y entre de vive force.
The law and the prophets were until John: since then, the kingdom of God is proclaimed, and every one presseth it to enter in.
17 Il est plus aisé que le ciel et la terre passent, qu'il ne l'est qu'une seule lettre de la Loi reste inexécutée.
And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one letter to pass from the law.
18 Quiconque répudie sa femme et en épouse une autre, commet un adultère, et celui qui épouse une femme répudiée, commet un adultère.
Whoever putteth away his wife, and taketh another, committeth adultery; and whoever taketh her that is put away, committeth adultery.
19 Il y avait un homme riche, qui était vêtu de pourpre et de fin lin, et qui faisait brillante chère tous les jours.
And there was a certain rich man, who was clothed in fine linen and scarlet, and passed every day in splendid luxury.
20 Un pauvre, nommé Lazare, avait été posé à sa porte: il était couvert d'ulcères,
And there was a certain poor man, whose name was Lazarus; and he was laid at the gate of the rich man, smitten with ulcers.
21 et aurait bien voulu se nourrir de ce qui tombait de la table du riche. Non-seulement on ne lui donnait rien, mais encore les chiens venaient lécher ses ulcères.
And he desired to fill his belly with the fragments that fell from the rich man's table: and the dogs also came and licked his ulcers.
22 Le pauvre vint à mourir, et il fut porté par les anges dans le sein d'Abraham. Le riche mourut aussi, et fut enseveli.
And so it was, that the poor man died; and angels transported him to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died, and was buried.
23 Comme il était dans le séjour des morts, en proie aux tourments, il leva les yeux et vit de loin Abraham, et Lazare dans son sein; (Hadēs g86)
And being tormented in hell, he raised his eyes from afar off, and saw Abraham, and Lazarus in his bosom. (Hadēs g86)
24 et il s'écria: «Père Abraham, aie pitié de moi, et envoie Lazare, afin qu'il trempe le bout de son doigt dans l'eau pour me rafraîchir la langue, car je souffre cruellement dans ces flammes.»
And he called with a loud voice, and said: Abraham, my father, have pity on me; and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and moisten my tongue; for, lo, I am tormented in this flame.
25 Mais Abraham lui dit: «Mon enfant, souviens-toi que tu as reçu tes biens pendant ta vie, et que Lazare, au contraire, a eu ses maux; maintenant ici, il est consolé, et toi, tu souffres.
And Abraham said to him: My son, remember, that thou receivedst thy good things in thy lifetime, and Lazarus his evil things: and now, behold he is here at rest, and thou art tormented.
26 D'ailleurs, entre vous et nous, s'ouvre un grand abîme, afin que ceux qui veulent passer d'ici vers vous ne le puissent point, et qu'on ne traverse pas non plus de là vers nous.»
And with all these, there is a great barrier between us and you; so that they who would pass from here to you, cannot; neither can they pass from there to us
27 Le riche dit: «Père, envoie-le donc, je t'en prie, dans la maison de mon père,
He said to him: I pray thee, therefore, my father, that thou wouldst send him to my father's house;
28 où j'ai cinq frères, afin qu'il les avertisse, de peur qu'ils ne viennent aussi dans ce lieu de tourments.»
for I have five brothers; that he may go and protest to them; lest they also come to this place of torment.
29 Abraham lui dit: «Ils ont Moïse et les Prophètes; qu'ils les écoutent.»
Abraham said to him: They have Moses and the prophets, let them hear them.
30 — «Non, Père Abraham, dit-il; mais si quelqu'un se rend de chez les morts vers eux, ils se repentiront.»
But he said to him: No, my father Abraham: but if one shall go to them from the dead, they will repent.
31 Mais Abraham lui dit: «S'ils n'écoutent pas Moïse et les Prophètes, ils ne se laisseront pas persuader, quand même quelqu'un des morts ressusciterait.»
Abraham said to him: If they hear not Moses and the prophets, they will not believe, though one should rise from the dead.
