Luc 13
1 En ce moment même, il se trouva là quelques personnes qui apprirent à Jésus la nouvelle de ces Galiléens, dont Pilate avait mêlé le sang à celui de leurs sacrifices?
Now there were present some, in that very season, bringing tidings to him, concerning the Galilaeans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 Et lui, prenant la parole, leur dit: «Croyez-vous que ces Galiléens fussent de plus grands pécheurs que les autres Galiléens, parce qu'ils ont souffert de la sorte?
And, answering, he said unto them—Suppose ye, that, these Galilaeans, had become, sinners beyond all the Galilaeans, because, these things, they have suffered?
3 — Non, vous dis-je; mais si vous ne vous repentez, vous périrez tous semblablement.
Nay! I tell you, but, except ye repent, ye, all, in like manner, shall perish.
4 Ou bien, croyez-vous que ces dix-huit personnes sur qui la tour est tombée, à Siloé, et qu'elle a tuées, fussent plus coupables que toutes celles qui habitent Jérusalem?
Or, those eighteen, upon whom fell the tower in Siloam, and slew them, suppose ye that, they, had become, debtors, beyond all the men who were dwelling in Jerusalem?
5 — Non, vous dis-je; mais si vous ne vous repentez, vous périrez tous semblablement.»
Nay! I tell you, but, except ye repent, ye, all, in the same way, shall perish.
6 Il ajouta cette comparaison: «Un homme avait un figuier planté dans sa vigne; il alla y chercher du fruit, et n'en trouva point.
And he went on to speak this parable: —A certain man had, a fig-tree, planted in his vineyard, and he canto seeking fruit therein, and found none.
7 Il dit au vigneron: «Voici trois ans que je viens chercher du fruit à ce figuier et que je n'en trouve point: coupe-le. Pourquoi occupe-t-il la terre inutilement?»
And he said unto the vine-dresser—Lo! three years, I come, seeking fruit in this fig-tree, and find none. Cut it down! Why doth it make, even the round useless?
8 Le vigneron répondit: «Seigneur, laisse-le encore cette année. Je creuserai tout autour et j'y mettrai du fumier;
And, he, answering, saith unto him—Sir! let it alone this year also, until such time as I dig about it, and throw in manure, —
9 peut-être portera-t-il du fruit; sinon tu le couperas l'an prochain.»
and if it may bear fruit for the future; …but, otherwise, certainly, thou shalt cut it down.
10 Un jour de sabbat, Jésus enseignait dans une synagogue,
And he was teaching in one of the synagogues, on the Sabbath.
11 et il vint une femme, qui, depuis dix-huit ans, était possédée d'un esprit qui la rendait faible: elle était toute voûtée, et ne pouvait absolument pas se redresser.
And lo! a woman, having a spirit of weakness eighteen years, —and was bowed together, and unable to lift herself up, at all.
12 Jésus la voyant, l'appela, et lui dit: «Femme, tu es délivrée de ta faiblesse; »
And, seeing her, Jesus called her and said to her—Woman! thou art loosed from thy weakness, —
13 et il lui imposa les mains: à l'instant elle se redressa, et glorifia Dieu.
and laid on her his hands; and, instantly, she was made straight again, and began glorifying God.
14 Mais le président de la synagogue, fâché de ce que Jésus avait fait cette guérison le jour du sabbat, prit la parole, et dit à la foule: «Il y a six jours pour travailler; venez-donc vous faire guérir en ces jours-là, et non pas le jour du sabbat.»
But the synagogue-ruler, answering, being greatly displeased that, on the Sabbath, Jesus had healed, began saying unto the multitude—Six days, there are, in which men ought to get their work done; On them, therefore, come and be healed, and, not on the day of rest.
15 Mais le Seigneur lui répondit: «Hypocrites, est-ce que chacun de vous, le jour du sabbat, ne délie pas de la crèche son boeuf ou son âne, pour le mener boire?
The Lord answered him, and said—Hypocrites! Doth not, each one of you, on the Sabbath, loose his ox or ass from the manger, and, leading it away, give it drink?
16 Et cette fille d'Abraham, que Satan tient liée depuis dix-huit ans, il ne fallait donc pas la délivrer de cette chaîne le jour du sabbat!»
But, this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan had bound, lo! eighteen years, was there not a needs-be that she should be loosed from this bond, on the day of rest?
17 Cette réponse couvrit de confusion tous ses adversaires, et le peuple se réjouissait de toutes les merveilles que Jésus faisait.
And, as he was saying, these, things, all who had been setting themselves against him were being put to shame; and, all the multitude, were rejoicing over all the glorious things which were being brought to pass by him.
18 Il ajouta donc: «A quoi ressemble le royaume de Dieu, et à quoi le comparerai-je?
He went on to say, therefore—Whereunto, is the kingdom of God, like? And, whereunto, shall I liken it?
19 Il est semblable à un grain de moutarde qu'un homme a pris et a jeté dans son jardin: le grain a poussé, il est devenu un arbre, et les oiseaux du ciel se sont abrités dans ses branches.»
It is, like, unto a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and cast into his own garden; and it grew, and became a tree, and, the birds of heaven, lodged amongst its branches.
20 Il dit encore: «A quoi comparerai-je le royaume de Dieu?
And, again, he said—Whereunto, shall I liken the kingdom of God?
21 Il est semblable à du levain qu'une femme a pris et mis dans trois mesures de farine, jusqu’à ce que tout ait levé.»
It is, like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, until, the whole, was leavened.
22 Et Jésus traversait les villes et les villages, enseignant, et faisant route vers Jérusalem.
And he was journeying on, city by city and village by village, and making, progress, unto Jerusalem.
23 Quelqu'un lui dit: «N'y a-t-il que peu de personnes de sauvées?» Il répondit:
And one said unto him—Lord! are they, few, who are being saved? And, he, said unto them—
24 «Efforcez- vous d'entrer par la porte étroite; car beaucoup, je vous le dis, chercheront à entrer, et ne le pourront pas.
Be striving to enter through the narrow door; for, many, I say unto you, will seek to enter, and will not be able, —
25 Une fois que le maître de la maison se sera levé, et aura fermé la porte, si vous êtes dehors, et que vous commenciez à heurter, en disant: «Seigneur, Seigneur, ouvre-nous; » il vous dira: «Je ne sais d'où vous êtes.»
when once the householder shall rouse himself, and lock the door, and ye begin to stand, outside, and to knock at the door, saying—Lord! open to us; and he shall answer and say unto you—I know you not, whence ye are.
26 Alors vous vous mettrez à dire: «Nous avons mangé et bu avec toi; c'est dans nos places publiques que tu as enseigné; »
Then, will ye begin to say—We did eat and drink in thy presence, and, in our broadways, thou didst, teach;
27 et il répondra: «Je vous le dis, je ne sais d'où vous êtes; éloignez-vous de moi, vous tous, ouvriers d'iniquité.»
And he will speak, saying unto you—I know not whence ye are; Depart from me, all workers of unrighteous—
28 C'est alors qu'il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents, quand vous verrez Abraham, Isaac et Jacob, et tous les prophètes, dans le royaume de Dieu, et que vous serez jetés dehors.
There, will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, as soon as ye see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and, yourselves, being thrust forth outside.
29 Il viendra de l'orient et de l'occident, du nord et du midi, des gens qui seront à table dans le royaume de Dieu.
And they shall have come from east and west, and from north and south, and be made recline in the kingdom of God.
30 Et voici, il y en a des derniers qui seront les premiers, et des premiers qui seront les derniers.»
And lo! there are, last, who shall be, first, and there are, first, who shall be, last;
31 Ce même jour, quelques pharisiens vinrent dire à Jésus: «Pars, éloigne-toi d'ici, parce qu'Hérode veut te faire mourir.»
In that very hour, came near certain Pharisees, saying unto him, Go forth, and be journeying hence, because, Herod, desireth to slay thee.
32 Il leur dit: «Allez dire à ce renard: Voici, je chasse les démons et je fais des guérisons aujourd'hui et demain; et après-demain j'ai fini;
And he said unto them—Go and tell this fox, Lo! I am casting out demons, and, cures, am I finishing, to-day, and to-morrow, —
33 seulement il faut qu'aujourd'hui et demain, et après-demain, je poursuive ma route, car il ne convient pas qu'un prophète périsse hors de Jérusalem.
and, on the third, I am to be made perfect. Nevertheless, I must needs, to-day, and tomorrow, and the following, be journeying on, because it is impossible that a prophet perish, outside Jerusalem.
34 Jérusalem, Jérusalem, toi qui tues les prophètes et qui lapides ceux qui te sont envoyés, combien de fois j'ai voulu rassembler tes enfants comme une poule rassemble sa couvée sous ses ailes, et vous ne l'avez pas voulu!
Jerusalem! Jerusalem! she that slayeth the prophets, and stoneth them that are sent unto her! How often, have I desired to gather together thy children, like as a hen, her own brood, under her wings, —and ye did not desire!
35 Voici, votre maison va vous être laissée, et je vous dis que vous ne me verrez plus, jusqu’à ce que le temps vienne, où vous direz: «Béni soit celui qui vient au nom du Seigneur!»
Lo! your house is left to you. [And] I say unto you—In nowise shall ye see me, until ye say, —Blessed, is he that cometh in the name of the Lord!
