Psaumes 74
1 Maskil d'Asaph. Ô Dieu, pourquoi nous as-tu rejetés pour jamais? et pourquoi es-tu enflammé de colère contre le troupeau de ta pâture?
[A Psalm] of instruction for Asaph. Wherefore hast thou rejected [us], O God, for ever? [wherefore] is thy wrath kindled against the sheep of thy pasture?
2 Souviens-toi de ton assemblée que tu as acquise d'ancienneté. Tu t'es approprié cette montagne de Sion, sur laquelle tu as habité, [afin qu'elle fût] la portion de ton héritage.
Remember thy congregation which thou hast purchased from the beginning; thou didst ransom the rod of thine inheritance; this mount Sion wherein thou hast dwelt.
3 Avance tes pas vers les masures de perpétuelle durée; l'ennemi a tout renversé au lieu Saint.
Lift up thine hands against their pride continually; [because of] all that the enemy has done wickedly in thy holy places.
4 Tes adversaires ont rugi au milieu de tes Synagogues; ils ont mis leurs enseignes pour enseignes.
And they that hate thee have boasted in the midst of thy feast; they have set up their standards for signs,
5 Là chacun se faisait voir élevant en haut les haches à travers le bois entrelacé.
ignorantly as it were in the entrance above;
6 Et maintenant avec des coignées et des marteaux ils brisent ensemble ses entaillures.
they cut down its doors at once with axes as in a wood of trees; they have broken it down with hatchet and stone cutter.
7 Ils ont mis en feu tes sanctuaires, et ont profané le Pavillon dédié à ton Nom, [l'abattant] par terre.
They have burnt thy sanctuary with fire to the ground; they have profaned the habitation of thy name.
8 Ils ont dit en leur cœur: saccageons-les tous ensemble; ils ont brûlé toutes les Synagogues du [Dieu] Fort sur la terre.
They have said in their heart, [even] all their kindred together, Come, let us abolish the feasts of the Lord from the earth.
9 Nous ne voyons plus nos enseignes; il n'y a plus de Prophètes; et il n'y a aucun avec nous qui sache jusques à quand.
We have not seen our signs; there is no longer a prophet; and [God] will not know us any more.
10 Ô Dieu! jusques à quand l'adversaire te couvrira-t-il d'opprobres? L'ennemi méprisera-t-il ton Nom à jamais?
How long, O God, shall the enemy reproach? shall the enemy provoke thy name forever?
11 Pourquoi retires-tu ta main, même ta droite? Consume-les en la tirant du milieu de ton sein.
Wherefore turnest thou away thine hand, and thy right hand from the midst of thy bosom for ever?
12 Or Dieu est mon Roi d'ancienneté, faisant des délivrances au milieu de la terre.
But God is our King of old; he has wrought salvation in the midst of the earth.
13 Tu as fendu la mer par ta force; tu as cassé les têtes des baleines sur les eaux.
Thou didst establish the sea, in thy might, thou didst break to pieces the heads of the dragons in the water.
14 Tu as brisé les têtes du Léviathan, tu l'as donné en viande au peuple des habitants des déserts.
Thou didst break to pieces the heads of the dragon; thou didst give him [for] meat to the Ethiopian nations.
15 Tu as ouvert la fontaine et le torrent, tu as desséché les grosses rivières.
Thou didst cleave fountains and torrents; thou driedst up mighty rivers.
16 A toi est le jour, à toi aussi est la nuit; tu as établi la lumière et le soleil.
The day is thine, and the night is thine; thou hast prepared the sun and the moon.
17 Tu as posé toutes les limites de la terre; tu as formé l'Eté et l'Hiver.
Thou hast made all the borders of the earth; thou hast made summer and spring.
18 Souviens-toi de ceci, que l'ennemi a blasphémé l'Eternel, [et] qu'un peuple insensé a outragé ton Nom.
Remember this thy creation: an enemy has reproached the Lord, and a foolish people has provoked thy name.
19 N'abandonne point à la troupe [de telles gens] l'âme de ta tourterelle, n'oublie point à jamais la troupe de tes affligés.
Deliver not to the wild beasts a soul that gives praise to thee: forget not for ever the souls of thy poor.
20 Regarde à ton alliance; car les lieux ténébreux de la terre sont remplis de cabanes de violence.
Look upon thy covenant: for the dark [places] of the earth are filled with the habitations of iniquity.
21 [Ne permets pas] que celui qui est foulé s'en retourne tout confus, et fais que l'affligé et le pauvre louent ton Nom.
let not the afflicted and shamed one be rejected: the poor and needy shall praise thy name.
22 Ô Dieu! lève-toi, défends ta cause, souviens-toi de l'opprobre qui t'est fait tous les jours par l'insensé.
Arise, O God, plead thy cause: remember thy reproaches that come from the foolish one all the day.
23 N'oublie point le cri de tes adversaires; le bruit de ceux qui s'élèvent contre toi monte continuellement.
Forget not the voice of thy suppliants: let the pride of them that hate thee continually ascend before thee.
