Psaumes 118

1 Célébrez l'Eternel, car il est bon; parce que sa bonté demeure à toujours.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.

2 Qu'Israël dise maintenant, que sa bonté demeure à toujours.

Let Israel now say that his loving kindness endures forever.

3 Que la maison d'Aaron dise maintenant, que sa bonté demeure à toujours.

Let the house of Aaron now say that his loving kindness endures forever.

4 Que ceux qui craignent l'Eternel disent maintenant, que sa bonté demeure à toujours.

Now let those who fear the LORD say that his loving kindness endures forever.

5 Me trouvant dans la détresse, j'ai invoqué l'Eternel, et l'Eternel m'a répondu, et m'a mis au large.

Out of my distress, I called on the LORD. The LORD answered me with freedom.

6 L'Eternel est pour moi, je ne craindrai point. Que me ferait l'homme?

The LORD is on my side. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?

7 L'Eternel est pour moi entre ceux qui m'aident; c'est pourquoi je verrai en ceux qui me haïssent ce [que je désire].

The LORD is on my side among those who help me. Therefore I will look in triumph at those who hate me.

8 Mieux vaut se confier en l'Eternel, que de se confier en l'homme.

It is better to take refuge in the LORD, than to put confidence in man.

9 Mieux vaut se confier en l'Eternel, que de se reposer sur les principaux [d'entre les peuples].

It is better to take refuge in the LORD, than to put confidence in princes.

10 Ils m'avaient environné; mais au Nom de l'Eternel je les mettrai en pièces.

All the nations surrounded me, but in the LORD’s name I cut them off.

11 Ils m'avaient environné, ils m'avaient, dis-je, environné; [mais] au Nom de l'Eternel je les ai mis en pièces.

They surrounded me, yes, they surrounded me. In the LORD’s name I indeed cut them off.

12 Ils m'avaient environné comme des abeilles; ils ont été éteints comme un feu d'épines, car au Nom de l'Eternel je les ai mis en pièces.

They surrounded me like bees. They are quenched like the burning thorns. In the LORD’s name I cut them off.

13 Tu m'avais rudement poussé, pour me faire tomber, mais l'Eternel m'a été en aide.

You pushed me back hard, to make me fall, but the LORD helped me.

14 L'Eternel est ma force, [et le sujet de mon] Cantique, et il a été mon libérateur.

The LORD is my strength and song. He has become my salvation.

15 Une voix de chant de triomphe et de délivrance retentit dans les tabernacles des justes; la droite de l'Eternel, [s'écrient ils], fait vertu.

The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous. “The right hand of the LORD does valiantly.

16 La droite de l'Eternel est haut élevée, la droite de l'Eternel fait vertu.

The right hand of the LORD is exalted! The right hand of the LORD does valiantly!”

17 Je ne mourrai point, mais je vivrai, et je raconterai les faits de l'Eternel.

I will not die, but live, and declare the LORD’s works.

18 L’Eternel m'a châtié sévèrement, mais il ne m'a point livré à la mort.

The LORD has punished me severely, but he has not given me over to death.

19 Ouvrez-moi les portes de justice; j'y entrerai, et je célébrerai l'Eternel.

Open to me the gates of righteousness. I will enter into them. I will give thanks to the LORD.

20 C'est ici la porte de l'Eternel; les justes y entreront.

This is the gate of the LORD; the righteous will enter into it.

21 Je te célébrerai de ce que tu m'as exaucé et de ce que tu as été mon libérateur.

I will give thanks to you, for you have answered me, and have become my salvation.

22 La Pierre que les Architectes avaient rejetée, est devenue le principal du coin.

The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.

23 Ceci a été fait par l'Eternel, [et] a été une chose merveilleuse devant nos yeux.

This is the LORD’s doing. It is marvelous in our eyes.

24 C'est ici la journée que l'Eternel a faite; égayons-nous? et nous réjouissons en elle.

This is the day that the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!

25 Eternel, je te prie, délivre maintenant. Eternel, je te prie, donne maintenant prospérité.

Save us now, we beg you, LORD! LORD, we beg you, send prosperity now.

26 Béni soit celui qui vient au Nom de l'Eternel; nous vous bénissons de la maison de l'Eternel.

Blessed is he who comes in the LORD’s name! We have blessed you out of the LORD’s house.

27 L'Eternel est le [Dieu] Fort, et il nous a éclairés. Liez avec des cordes la bête du sacrifice, [et amenez-la], jusqu’aux cornes de l'autel.

The LORD is God, and he has given us light. Bind the sacrifice with cords, even to the horns of the altar.

28 Tu es mon [Dieu] Fort, c'est pourquoi je te célébrerai. Tu es mon Dieu, je t'exalterai.

You are my God, and I will give thanks to you. You are my God, I will exalt you.

29 Célébrez l'Eternel; car il [est] bon, parce que sa miséricorde demeure à toujours.

Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.
