Isaïe 1
1 La vision d'Esaïe, fils d'Amots, laquelle il a vue touchant Juda et Jérusalem, aux jours de Hozias, de Jotham, d'Achas, et d'Ezéchias, Rois de Juda.
The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, [and] Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
2 Cieux écoutez, et toi Terre prête l'oreille, car l'Eternel a parlé, [disant]; j'ai nourri des enfants, je les ai élevés, mais ils se sont rebellés contre moi.
Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.
3 Le bœuf connaît son possesseur, et l'âne la crèche de son maître; [mais] Israël n'a point de connaissance, mon peuple n'a point d'intelligence.
The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: [but] Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.
4 Ha! nation pécheresse, peuple chargé d'iniquité, race de gens malins, enfants qui ne font que se corrompre; ils ont abandonné l'Eternel, ils ont irrité par leur mépris le Saint d'Israël, ils se sont retirés en arrière.
Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
5 Pourquoi seriez-vous encore battus? vous ajouterez la révolte; toute tête est en douleur, et tout cœur est languissant.
Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.
6 Depuis la plante du pied jusqu'à la tête il n'y a rien d'entier en lui; il [n'y a que] blessure, meurtrissure, et plaie pourrie, qui n'ont point été nettoyées, ni bandées, et dont aucune n'a été adoucie d'huile.
From the sole of the foot even unto the head [there is] no soundness in it; [but] wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.
7 Votre pays n'est que désolation, et vos villes sont en feu; les étrangers dévorent votre terre en votre présence, et cette désolation est comme un bouleversement fait par des étrangers.
Your country [is] desolate, your cities [are] burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and [it is] desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
8 Car la fille de Sion restera comme une cabane dans une vigne; comme une loge dans un champ de concombres; comme une ville serrée de près.
And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.
9 Si l'Eternel des armées ne nous eût laissé des gens de reste, qui sont même bien peu, nous eussions été comme Sodome, nous eussions été semblables à Gomorrhe.
Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, [and] we should have been like unto Gomorrah.
10 Ecoutez la parole de l'Eternel, Conducteurs de Sodome, prêtez l'oreille à la Loi de notre Dieu, peuple de Gomorrhe!
Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.
11 Qu'ai-je à faire, dit l'Eternel, de la multitude de vos sacrifices? je suis rassasié d'holocaustes de moutons, et de la graisse de bêtes grasses, je ne prends point de plaisir au sang des taureaux, ni des agneaux, ni des boucs.
To what purpose [is] the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.
12 Quand vous entrez pour vous présenter devant ma face; qui a requis cela de vos mains, que vous fouliez de [vos pieds] mes parvis?
When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?
13 Ne continuez plus à m'apporter des oblations de néant; le parfum m'est en abomination; quant aux nouvelles Lunes, et aux Sabbats, et à la publication de [vos] convocations, je n'en puis [plus] supporter l'ennui, ni de [vos] assemblées solennelles.
Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; [it is] iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
14 Mon âme hait vos nouvelles Lunes, et vos fêtes solennelles; elles me sont fâcheuses, je suis las de les supporter.
Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear [them].
15 C'est pourquoi quand vous étendrez vos mains, je cacherai mes yeux de vous, et quand vous multiplierez vos prières, je ne les exaucerai point; vos mains sont pleines de sang.
And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
16 Lavez-vous, nettoyez-vous, ôtez de devant mes yeux la malice de vos actions; cessez de mal faire.
Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
17 Apprenez à bien faire; recherchez la droiture; redressez celui qui est foulé, faites justice à l'orphelin, défendez la cause de la veuve.
Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
18 Venez maintenant, dit l'Eternel, et débattons nos droits; quand vos péchés seraient comme le cramoisi, ils seront blanchis comme la neige; et quand ils seraient rouges comme le vermillon, ils seront [blanchis] comme la laine.
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
19 Si vous obéissez volontairement, vous mangerez le meilleur du pays.
If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
20 Mais si vous refusez [d'obéir], et si vous êtes rebelles, vous serez consumés par l'épée; car la bouche de l'Eternel a parlé.
But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken [it].
21 Comment s'est prostituée la cité fidèle? elle était pleine de droiture, et la justice logeait en elle, mais maintenant elle est pleine de meurtriers.
How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.
22 Ton argent est devenu de l'écume, et ton breuvage est mêlé d'eau.
Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water:
23 Les Principaux de ton peuple sont revêches, et compagnons de larrons; chacun d'eux aime les présents, ils courent après les récompenses; ils ne font point droit à l'orphelin, et la cause de la veuve ne vient point devant eux.
Thy princes [are] rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.
24 C'est pourquoi le Seigneur, l'Eternel des armées, le Puissant d'Israël dit; Ha! je me satisferai [en punissant] mes adversaires, et je me vengerai de mes ennemis.
Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:
25 Et je remettrai ma main sur toi, et je refondrai au net ton écume, et j'ôterai tout ton étain.
And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:
26 Mais je rétablirai tes Juges, tels qu'[ils étaient] la première fois, et tes Conseillers, tels que du commencement; et après cela on t'appellera, Cité de justice, ville fidèle.
And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.
27 Sion sera rachetée par le jugement, et ceux qui y retourneront [seront rachetés] par la justice.
Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.
28 Mais les rebelles, et les pécheurs seront froissés ensemble; et ceux qui ont abandonné l'Eternel, seront consumés.
And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners [shall be] together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.
29 Car on sera honteux à cause des chênes que vous avez désirés; et vous rougirez à cause des jardins que vous avez choisis.
For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.
30 Car vous serez comme le chêne dont la feuille tombe, et comme le jardin qui n'a point d'eau.
For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.
31 Et le fort sera de l'étoupe, et son œuvre une étincelle; et tous deux brûleront ensemble, et il n'y aura personne qui éteigne [le feu].
And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench [them].
