Genèse 27
1 Et il arriva que quand Isaac fut devenu vieux, et que ses yeux furent si ternis qu'il ne pouvait plus voir, il appela Esaü son fils aîné, et lui dit: Mon fils! Lequel lui répondit: Me voici.
And when Izhak was olde, and his eyes were dimme (so that he coulde not see) he called Esau his eldest sonne, and sayde vnto him, My sonne. And he answered him, I am here.
2 Et il lui dit: Voici maintenant je suis devenu vieux, et je ne sais point le jour de ma mort.
Then he sayd, Beholde, I am nowe olde, and knowe not the day of my death:
3 Maintenant donc, je te prie, prends tes armes, ton carquois, et ton arc, et t'en va aux champs, et prends-moi de la venaison.
Wherefore nowe, I pray thee take thine instruments, thy quiuer and thy bowe, and get thee to the fielde, that thou mayest take mee some venison.
4 Et m'apprête des viandes d'appétit comme je les aime, et apporte-les-moi, afin que je mange, et que mon âme te bénisse avant que je meure.
Then make mee sauourie meate, such as I loue, and bring it me that I may eat, and that my soule may blesse thee, before I die.
5 Or Rébecca écoutait pendant qu'Isaac parlait à Esaü son fils. Esaü donc s'en alla aux champs pour prendre de la venaison, et l'apporter.
(Nowe Rebekah heard, when Izhak spake to Esau his sonne) and Esau went into the fielde to hunt for venison, and to bring it.
6 Et Rébecca parla à Jacob son fils, et lui dit: Voici, j'ai ouï parler ton père à Esaü ton frère, disant:
Then Rebekah spake vnto Iaakob her sonne, saying, Beholde, I haue heard thy father talking with Esau thy brother, saying,
7 Apporte-moi de la venaison, et m'apprête des viandes d'appétit, afin que j'en mange; et je te bénirai devant l'Eternel, avant que de mourir.
Bring mee vension, and make mee sauourie meate, that I may eate and blesse thee before the Lord, afore my death.
8 Maintenant donc, mon fils, obéis à ma parole, et fais ce que je te vais commander.
Nowe therefore, my sonne, heare my voyce in that which I command thee.
9 Va maintenant à la bergerie, et prends-moi là deux bons chevreaux d'entre les chèvres, et j'en apprêterai des viandes d'appétit pour ton père, comme il les aime.
Get thee nowe to the flocke, and bring me thence two good kids of the goates, that I may make pleasant meate of them for thy father, such as he loueth.
10 Et tu les porteras à ton père, afin qu'il les mange, et qu'il te bénisse, avant sa mort.
Then shalt thou bring it to thy father, and he shall eate, to the intent that he may blesse thee before his death.
11 Et Jacob répondit à Rébecca sa mère: Voici, Esaü mon frère est un homme velu, et je suis un homme sans poil.
But Iaakob sayde to Rebekah his mother, Beholde, Esau my brother is rough, and I am smoothe.
12 Peut-être que mon père me tâtera, et il me regardera comme un homme qui l'a voulu tromper, et j'attirerai sur moi sa malédiction, et non pas sa bénédiction.
My father may possibly feele me, and I shall seem to him to be a mocker: so shall I bring a curse vpon me, and not a blessing.
13 Et sa mère lui dit: Mon fils, que la malédiction que tu [crains soit] sur moi! Obéis seulement à ma parole, et me va prendre [ce que je t'ai dit].
But his mother sayd vnto him, vpon me be thy curse, my sonne: onely heare my voyce, and go and bring me them.
14 Il s'en alla donc, et le prit, et il l'apporta à sa mère; et sa mère en apprêta des viandes d'appétit, comme son père les aimait.
So he went and set them, and brought them to his mother: and his mother made pleasant meat, such as his father loued.
15 Puis Rébecca prit les plus précieux habits d'Esaü son fils aîné, qu'elle avait dans la maison, et elle en vêtit Jacob son plus jeune fils.
And Rebekah tooke faire clothes of her elder sonne Esau, which were in her house, and clothed Iaakob her yonger sonne:
16 Et elle couvrit ses mains et son cou, qui étaient sans poil, des peaux des chevreaux.
And she couered his hands and the smoothe of his necke with the skinnes of the kiddes of the goates.
17 Puis elle mit entre les mains de son fils Jacob ces viandes d'appétit, et le pain qu'elle avait apprêté.
Afterward she put the pleasant meate and bread, which she had prepared, in the hand of her sonne Iaakob.
18 Il vint donc vers son père, et lui dit: Mon père! Il répondit: Me voici; qui es-tu, mon fils?
And when he came to his father, he sayd, My father. Who answered, I am here: who art thou, my sonne?
19 Et Jacob dit à son père: Je suis Esaü, ton fils aîné; j'ai fait ce que tu m'avais commandé; lève-toi, je te prie, assieds-toi, et mange de ma chasse, afin que ton âme me bénisse.
And Iaakob sayde to his father, I am Esau thy first borne, I haue done as thou badest me, arise, I pray thee: sit vp and eate of my venison, that thy soule may blesse me.
20 Et Isaac dit à son fils: Qu'est ceci que tu en aies si-tôt trouvé, mon fils? Et il dit: L'Eternel ton Dieu l'a fait rencontrer devant moi.
Then Izhak said vnto his sonne, Howe hast thou founde it so quickly my sonne? Who sayde, Because the Lord thy God brought it to mine hande.
21 Et Isaac dit à Jacob: Mon fils, approche-toi, je te prie, et je te tâterai, [afin que je sache] si tu es toi-même mon fils Esaü, ou non.
Againe sayde Izhak vnto Iaakob, Come neere nowe, that I may feele thee, my sonne, whether thou be that my sonne Esau or not.
22 Jacob donc s'approcha de son père Isaac, qui le tâta, et dit: Cette voix est la voix de Jacob; mais ces mains sont les mains d'Esaü.
Then Iaakob came neere to Izhak his father, and he felt him and sayd, The voyce is Iaakobs voyce, but the hands are the hands of Esau.
23 Et il le méconnut; car ses mains étaient velues comme les mains de son frère Esaü; et il le bénit.
(For he knewe him not, because his hands were rough as his brother Esaus hands: wherefore he blessed him)
24 Il dit donc: Es-tu toi-même mon fils Esaü? Il répondit: Je le suis.
Againe he sayd, Art thou that my sonne Esau? Who answered, Yea.
25 Il lui dit aussi: Approche-moi [donc la viande], et que je mange de la chasse de mon fils, afin que mon âme te bénisse. Et il l'approcha, et [Isaac] mangea; il lui apporta aussi du vin, et il but.
Then said he, Bring it me hither, and I will eate of my sonnes venison, that my soule may blesse thee. And he brought it to him, and he ate: also he brought him wine, and he dranke.
26 Puis Isaac son père lui dit: Approche-toi, je te prie, et me baise, mon fils.
Afterward his father Izhak sayd vnto him, Come neere nowe, and kisse me, my sonne.
27 Et il s'approcha, et le baisa. Et [Isaac] sentit l'odeur de ses habits, et le bénit, en disant: Voici l'odeur de mon fils, comme l'odeur d'un champ que l'Eternel a béni.
And hee came neere and kissed him. Then he smellled the sauour of his garmentes, and blessed him, and sayde, Behold, the smelll of my sonne is as the smelll of a fielde, which the Lord hath blessed.
28 Que Dieu te donne de la rosée des cieux, et de la graisse de la terre, et abondance de froment, et de moût!
God giue thee therefore of the dewe of heauen, and the fatnesse of the earth, and plentie of wheate and wine.
29 Que les peuples te servent, et que les nations se prosternent devant toi! Sois le maître de tes frères, et que les fils de ta mère se prosternent devant toi! Quiconque te maudira, soit maudit; et quiconque te bénira, soit béni.
Let people bee thy seruantes, and nations bowe vnto thee: be Lord ouer thy brethren, and let thy mothers children honour thee. cursed be he that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.
30 Or il arriva qu'aussitôt qu'Isaac eut achevé de bénir Jacob, Jacob étant à peine sorti de devant son père Isaac, son frère Esaü revint de la chasse;
And when Izhak had made an ende of blessing Iaakob, and Iaakob was scarce gone out from the presence of Izhak his father, then came Esau his brother from his hunting,
31 Qui apprêta aussi des viandes d'appétit, et les apporta à son père, et lui dit: Que mon père se lève, et qu'il mange de la chasse de son fils, afin que ton âme me bénisse.
And hee also prepared sauourie meate and brought it to his father, and sayd vnto his father, Let my father arise, and eat of his sonnes venison, that thy soule may blesse me.
32 Et Isaac son père lui dit: Qui es-tu? Et il dit: Je suis ton fils, ton fils aîné, Esaü.
But his father Izhak sayde vnto him, Who art thou? And he answered, I am thy sonne, euen thy first borne Esau.
33 Et Isaac fut saisi d'une fort grande émotion, et dit: Qui est, [et] où est celui qui a pris de la chasse, et m'en a apporté? J'ai mangé de tout, avant que tu vinsses, et je l'ai béni; et aussi il sera béni!
Then Izhak was stricken with a marueilous great feare, and sayde, Who and where is hee that hunted venison, and brought it mee, and I haue eate of all before thou camest? and I haue blessed him, therefore he shalbe blessed.
34 Si-tôt qu'Esaü eut entendu les paroles de son père, il jeta un cri fort grand, et amer; et il dit à son père: Bénis-moi aussi, bénis-moi, mon père!
When Esau heard the wordes of his father, he cryed out with a great crye and bitter, out of measure, and sayde vnto his father, Blesse me, euen me also, my father.
35 Mais il dit: Ton frère est venu avec artifice, et a emporté ta bénédiction.
Who answered, Thy brother came with subtiltie, and hath taken away thy blessing.
36 Et [Esaü] dit: N'est-ce pas avec raison qu'on a appelé son nom, Jacob? car il m'a déjà supplanté deux fois; il m'a enlevé mon droit d'aînesse, et voici, maintenant il a emporté ma bénédiction. Puis il dit: Ne m'as-tu point réservé de bénédiction?
Then he sayde, Was hee not iustly called Iaakob? for hee hath deceiued mee these two times: he tooke my birthright, and loe, nowe hath he taken my blessing. Also he sayd, Hast thou not reserued a blessing for me?
37 Et Isaac répondit à Esaü, en disant: Voici, je l'ai établi ton Seigneur, et lui ai donné tous ses frères pour serviteurs, et je l'ai fourni de froment et de moût; et que ferai-je maintenant pour toi, mon fils?
Then Izhak answered, and sayd vnto Esau, Beholde, I haue made him thy lorde, and all his brethre haue I made his seruants: also with wheate and wine haue I furnished him, and vnto thee now what shall I doe, my sonne?
38 Et Esaü dit à son père: N'as-tu qu'une bénédiction, mon père? Bénis-moi aussi, bénis-moi, mon père! Et Esaü, élevant sa voix, pleura.
Then Esau sayde vnto his father, Hast thou but one blessing my father? blesse mee, euen me also, my father: and Esau lifted vp his voyce, and wept.
39 Et Isaac son père répondit, et dit: Voici, ton habitation sera en la graisse de la terre, et en la rosée des cieux d'en haut.
Then Izhak his father answered, and sayde vnto him, Behold, the fatnesse of the earth shall be thy dwelling place, and thou shalt haue of the dewe of heauen from aboue.
40 Et tu vivras par ton épée, et tu seras asservi à ton frère; mais il arrivera qu'étant devenu maître, tu briseras son joug de dessus ton cou.
And by thy sword shalt thou liue, and shalt be thy brothers seruant. But it shall come to passe, when thou shalt get the masterie, that thou shalt breake his yoke from thy necke.
41 Et Esaü eut en haine Jacob, à cause de la bénédiction dont son père l'avait béni, et il dit en son cœur: Les jours du deuil de mon père approchent, et alors je tuerai Jacob mon frère.
Therefore Esau hated Iaakob, because of the blessing, wherewith his father blessed him. And Esau thought in his minde, The dayes of mourning for my father will come shortly, then I will slay may brother Iaakob.
42 Et on rapporta à Rébecca les discours d'Esaü, son fils aîné; et elle envoya appeler Jacob son second fils, et lui dit: Voici, Esaü ton frère se console dans [l'espérance] qu'il a de te tuer.
And it was told to Rebekah of the wordes of Esau her elder sonne, and shee sent and called Iaakob her yonger sonne, and sayd vnto him, Beholde, thy brother Esau is comforted against thee, meaning to kill thee:
43 Maintenant donc, mon fils, obéis à ma parole; lève-toi, et t'enfuis à Caran, vers Laban, mon frère.
Now therefore my sonne, heare my voyce, arise, and flee thou to Haran to my brother Laban,
44 Et demeure avec lui quelque temps, jusqu'à ce que la fureur de ton frère soit passée;
And tarie with him a while vntill thy brothers fiercenesse be swaged,
45 Et que sa colère soit détournée de toi, et qu'il ait oublié les choses que tu lui as faites. J'enverrai ensuite pour te tirer de là. Pourquoi serais-je privée de vous deux en un même jour?
And till thy brothers wrath turne away from thee, and hee forget the thinges, which thou hast done to him: then will I sende and take thee from thence: why shoulde I bee depriued of you both in one day?
46 Et Rébecca dit à Isaac: La vie m'est devenue ennuyeuse, à cause de ces Héthiennes. Si Jacob prend pour femme quelqu'une de ces Héthiennes, comme sont les filles de ce pays, à quoi me sert la vie?
Also Rebekah said to Izhak, I am weary of my life, for the daughters of Heth. If Iaakob take a wife of the daughters of Heth like these of the daughters of the lande, what auaileth it me to liue?
