Actes 9
1 Or Saul ne respirant encore que menaces et carnage contre les disciples du Seigneur, s'étant adressé au souverain Sacrificateur,
And Saul, yet breathing of threatening and slaughter to the disciples of the Lord, having gone to the chief priest,
2 Lui demanda des lettres de sa part pour porter à Damas aux Synagogues, afin que s'il en trouvait quelques-uns de cette secte, soit hommes, soit femmes, il les amenât liés à Jérusalem.
did ask from him letters to Damascus, unto the synagogues, that if he may find any being of the way, both men and women, he may bring them bound to Jerusalem.
3 Or il arriva qu'en marchant il approcha de Damas, et tout à coup une lumière resplendit du ciel comme un éclair tout autour de lui.
And in the going, he came nigh to Damascus, and suddenly there shone round about him a light from the heaven,
4 Et étant tombé par terre, il entendit une voix qui lui disait: Saul, Saul, pourquoi me persécutes-tu?
and having fallen upon the earth, he heard a voice saying to him, 'Saul, Saul, why me dost thou persecute?'
5 Et il répondit: qui es-tu, Seigneur? Et le Seigneur lui dit: je suis Jésus, que tu persécutes; il t'est dur de regimber contre les aiguillons.
And he said, 'Who art thou, Lord?' and the Lord said, 'I am Jesus whom thou dost persecute; hard for thee at the pricks to kick;'
6 Et lui tout tremblant et tout effrayé, dit: Seigneur, que veux-tu que je fasse? Et le Seigneur lui dit: lève-toi, et entre dans la ville, et là il te sera dit ce que tu dois faire.
trembling also, and astonished, he said, 'Lord, what dost thou wish me to do?' and the Lord [said] unto him, 'Arise, and enter into the city, and it shall be told thee what it behoveth thee to do.'
7 Et les hommes qui marchaient avec lui s'arrêtèrent tout épouvantés, entendant bien la voix, mais ne voyant personne.
And the men who are journeying with him stood speechless, hearing indeed the voice but seeing no one,
8 Et Saul se leva de terre, et ouvrant ses yeux, il ne voyait personne; c'est pourquoi ils le conduisirent par la main, et le menèrent à Damas;
and Saul arose from the earth, and his eyes having been opened, he beheld no one, and leading him by the hand they brought him to Damascus,
9 Où il fut trois jours sans voir, sans manger ni boire.
and he was three days without seeing, and he did neither eat nor drink.
10 Or il y avait à Damas un disciple, nommé Ananias, à qui le Seigneur dit en vision: Ananias! Et il répondit: me voici, Seigneur.
And there was a certain disciple in Damascus, by name Ananias, and the Lord said unto him in a vision, 'Ananias;' and he said, 'Behold me, Lord;'
11 Et le Seigneur lui dit: lève-toi, et t'en va en la rue nommée la droite, et cherche dans la maison de Judas un homme appelé Saul, qui est de Tarse: car voilà il prie.
and the Lord [saith] unto him, 'Having risen, go on unto the street that is called Straight, and seek in the house of Judas, [one] by name Saul of Tarsus, for, lo, he doth pray,
12 Or [Saul] avait vu en vision un homme nommé Ananias, entrant, et lui imposant les mains, afin qu'il recouvrât la vue.
and he saw in a vision a man, by name Ananias, coming in, and putting a hand on him, that he may see again.'
13 Et Ananias répondit: Seigneur! j'ai ouï parler à plusieurs de cet homme-là; et combien de maux il a faits à tes Saints dans Jérusalem.
And Ananias answered, 'Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how many evils he did to Thy saints in Jerusalem,
14 Il a même ici le pouvoir de la part des principaux Sacrificateurs, de lier tous ceux qui invoquent ton Nom.
and here he hath authority from the chief priests, to bind all those calling on Thy name.'
15 Mais le Seigneur lui dit: va; car il m'est un vaisseau que j'ai choisi, pour porter mon Nom devant les Gentils, et les Rois, et les enfants d'Israël.
And the Lord said unto him, 'Be going on, because a choice vessel to Me is this one, to bear My name before nations and kings — the sons also of Israel;
16 Car je lui montrerai combien il aura à souffrir pour mon Nom.
for I will shew him how many things it behoveth him for My name to suffer.'
17 Ananias donc s'en alla, et entra dans la maison; et lui imposant les mains, il lui dit: Saul mon frère, le Seigneur Jésus, qui t'est apparu dans le chemin par où tu venais, m'a envoyé, afin que tu recouvres la vue, et que tu sois rempli du Saint-Esprit.
And Ananias went away, and did enter into the house, and having put upon him [his] hands, said, 'Saul, brother, the Lord hath sent me — Jesus who did appear to thee in the way in which thou wast coming — that thou mayest see again, and mayest be filled with the Holy Spirit.'
18 Et aussitôt il tomba de ses yeux comme des écailles; et à l'instant il recouvra la vue; puis il se leva, et fut baptisé.
And immediately there fell from his eyes as it were scales, he saw again also presently, and having risen, was baptized,
19 Et ayant mangé il reprit ses forces. Et Saul fut quelques jours avec les disciples qui étaient à Damas.
and having received nourishment, was strengthened, and Saul was with the disciples in Damascus certain days,
20 Et il prêcha incessamment dans les Synagogues, que Christ était le Fils de Dieu.
and immediately in the synagogues he was preaching the Christ, that he is the Son of God.
21 Et tous ceux qui l'entendaient, étaient comme ravis hors d'eux-mêmes, et ils disaient: n'est-ce pas celui-là qui a détruit à Jérusalem ceux qui invoquaient ce Nom, et qui est venu ici exprès pour les amener liés aux principaux Sacrificateurs.
And all those hearing were amazed, and said, 'Is not this he who laid waist in Jerusalem those calling on this name, and hither to this intent had come, that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?'
22 Mais Saul se fortifiait de plus en plus, et confondait les Juifs qui demeuraient à Damas, prouvant que Jésus était le Christ.
And Saul was still more strengthened, and he was confounding the Jews dwelling in Damascus, proving that this is the Christ.
23 Or longtemps après les Juifs conspirèrent ensemble pour le faire mourir.
And when many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel together to kill him,
24 Mais leurs embûches vinrent à la connaissance de Saul. Or ils gardaient les portes jour et nuit, afin de le faire mourir.
and their counsel against [him] was known to Saul; they were also watching the gates both day and night, that they may kill him,
25 Mais les disciples le prenant de nuit, le descendirent par la muraille, en le dévalant dans une corbeille.
and the disciples having taken him, by night did let him down by the wall, letting down in a basket.
26 Et quand Saul fut venu à Jérusalem, il tâchait de se joindre aux disciples; mais tous le craignaient, ne croyant pas qu'il fût disciple.
And Saul, having come to Jerusalem, did try to join himself to the disciples, and they were all afraid of him, not believing that he is a disciple,
27 Mais Barnabas le prit, et le mena aux Apôtres, et leur raconta comment par le chemin il avait vu le Seigneur, qui lui avait parlé, et comment il avait parlé franchement à Damas au Nom de Jésus.
and Barnabas having taken him, brought [him] unto the apostles, and did declare to them how in the way he saw the Lord, and that he spake to him, and how in Damascus he was speaking boldly in the name of Jesus.
28 Et il était avec eux à Jérusalem, se montrant publiquement.
And he was with them, coming in and going out in Jerusalem,
29 Et parlant sans déguisement au Nom du Seigneur Jésus, il disputait contre les Grecs; mais ils tâchaient de le faire mourir.
and speaking boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, he was both speaking and disputing with the Hellenists, and they were taking in hand to kill him,
30 Ce que les frères ayant connu ils le menèrent à Césarée, et l'envoyèrent à Tarse.
and the brethren having known, brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.
31 Ainsi donc les Eglises par toute la Judée, la Galilée, et la Samarie étaient en paix, étant édifiées, et marchant dans la crainte du Seigneur; et elles étaient multipliées par la consolation du Saint-Esprit.
Then, indeed, the assemblies throughout all Judea, and Galilee, and Samaria, had peace, being built up, and, going on in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.
32 Or il arriva que comme Pierre les visitait tous, il vint aussi vers les Saints qui demeuraient à Lydde.
And it came to pass that Peter passing throughout all [quarters], came down also unto the saints who were dwelling at Lydda,
33 Et il trouva là un homme nommé Enée, qui depuis huit ans était couché dans un petit lit; car il était paralytique.
and he found there a certain man, Aeneas by name — for eight years laid upon a couch — who was paralytic,
34 Et Pierre lui dit: Enée, Jésus-Christ te guérisse! lève-toi, et fais ton lit; et sur-le-champ il se leva.
and Peter said to him, 'Aeneas, heal thee doth Jesus the Christ; arise and spread for thyself;' and immediately he rose,
35 Et tous ceux qui habitaient à Lydde et à Saron, le virent; et ils furent convertis au Seigneur.
and all those dwelling at Lydda, and Saron saw him, and did turn to the Lord.
36 Or il y avait à Joppe une femme disciple, nommée Tabitha, qui signifie [en Grec] Dorcas, laquelle était pleine de bonnes œuvres et d'aumônes qu'elle faisait.
And in Joppa there was a certain female disciple, by name Tabitha, (which interpreted, is called Dorcas, ) this woman was full of good works and kind acts that she was doing;
37 Et il arriva en ces jours-là qu'elle tomba malade, et mourut; et quand ils l'eurent lavée, ils la mirent dans une chambre haute.
and it came to pass in those days she, having ailed, died, and having bathed her, they laid her in an upper chamber,
38 Et parce que Lydde était près de Joppe, les disciples ayant appris que Pierre était à Lydde, ils envoyèrent vers lui deux hommes, le priant qu'il ne tardât point de venir chez eux.
and Lydda being nigh to Joppa, the disciples having heard that Peter is in that [place], sent two men unto him, calling on him not to delay to come through unto them.
39 Et Pierre s'étant levé, s'en vint avec eux; et quand il fut arrivé, ils le menèrent en la chambre haute; et toutes les veuves se présentèrent à lui en pleurant, et montrant combien Dorcas faisait de robes et de vêtements, quand elle était avec elles.
And Peter having risen, went with them, whom having come, they brought into the upper chamber, and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing coats and garments, as many as Dorcas was making while she was with them.
40 Mais Pierre après les avoir fait tous sortir, se mit à genoux, et pria; puis se tournant vers le corps, il dit: Tabitha, lève-toi. Et elle ouvrit ses yeux, et voyant Pierre, elle se rassit.
And Peter having put them all forth without, having bowed the knees, did pray, and having turned unto the body said, 'Tabitha, arise;' and she opened her eyes, and having seen Peter, she sat up,
41 Et il lui donna la main, et la leva; puis ayant appelé les Saints et les veuves, il la leur présenta vivante.
and having given her [his] hand, he lifted her up, and having called the saints and the widows, he presented her alive,
42 Et cela fut connu dans tout Joppe; et plusieurs crurent au Seigneur.
and it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed on the Lord;
43 Et il arriva qu'il demeura plusieurs jours à Joppe, chez un certain Simon corroyeur.
and it came to pass, that he remained many days in Joppa, with a certain one, Simon a tanner.
