Psaumes 91

1 Celui qui demeure sous l’abri du Très-Haut Repose à l’ombre du Tout-Puissant.

Who so dwelleth in the secrete of the most High, shall abide in the shadowe of the Almightie.

2 Je dis à l’Éternel: Mon refuge et ma forteresse, Mon Dieu en qui je me confie!

I will say vnto the Lord, O mine hope, and my fortresse: he is my God, in him will I trust.

3 Car c’est lui qui te délivre du filet de l’oiseleur, De la peste et de ses ravages.

Surely he will deliuer thee from the snare of the hunter, and from the noysome pestilence.

4 Il te couvrira de ses plumes, Et tu trouveras un refuge sous ses ailes; Sa fidélité est un bouclier et une cuirasse.

Hee will couer thee vnder his winges, and thou shalt be sure vnder his feathers: his trueth shall be thy shielde and buckler.

5 Tu ne craindras ni les terreurs de la nuit, Ni la flèche qui vole de jour,

Thou shalt not be afraide of the feare of the night, nor of the arrowe that flyeth by day:

6 Ni la peste qui marche dans les ténèbres, Ni la contagion qui frappe en plein midi.

Nor of the pestilence that walketh in the darkenesse: nor of the plague that destroyeth at noone day.

7 Que mille tombent à ton côté, Et dix mille à ta droite, Tu ne seras pas atteint;

A thousand shall fall at thy side, and tenne thousand at thy right hand, but it shall not come neere thee.

8 De tes yeux seulement tu regarderas, Et tu verras la rétribution des méchants.

Doubtlesse with thine eyes shalt thou beholde and see the reward of the wicked.

9 Car tu es mon refuge, ô Éternel! Tu fais du Très-Haut ta retraite.

For thou hast said, The Lord is mine hope: thou hast set the most High for thy refuge.

10 Aucun malheur ne t’arrivera, Aucun fléau n’approchera de ta tente.

There shall none euill come vnto thee, neither shall any plague come neere thy tabernacle.

11 Car il ordonnera à ses anges De te garder dans toutes tes voies;

For hee shall giue his Angels charge ouer thee to keepe thee in all thy wayes.

12 Ils te porteront sur les mains, De peur que ton pied ne heurte contre une pierre.

They shall beare thee in their handes, that thou hurt not thy foote against a stone.

13 Tu marcheras sur le lion et sur l’aspic, Tu fouleras le lionceau et le dragon.

Thou shalt walke vpon the lyon and aspe: the yong lyon and the dragon shalt thou treade vnder feete.

14 Puisqu’il m’aime, je le délivrerai; Je le protégerai, puisqu’il connaît mon nom.

Because he hath loued me, therefore will I deliuer him: I will exalt him because hee hath knowen my Name.

15 Il m’invoquera, et je lui répondrai; Je serai avec lui dans la détresse, Je le délivrerai et je le glorifierai.

He shall call vpon me, and I wil heare him: I will be with him in trouble: I will deliuer him, and glorifie him.

16 Je le rassasierai de longs jours, Et je lui ferai voir mon salut.

With long life wil I satisfie him, and shew him my saluation.
