Ézéchiel 7
1 La parole de l’Éternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:
And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
2 Et toi, fils de l’homme, ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel, Sur le pays d’Israël: Voici la fin! La fin vient sur les quatre extrémités du pays!
“O son of man, this is what the Lord GOD says to the land of Israel: ‘The end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land.
3 Maintenant la fin vient sur toi; J’enverrai ma colère contre toi, Je te jugerai selon tes voies, Je te chargerai de toutes tes abominations.
The end is now upon you, and I will unleash My anger against you. I will judge you according to your ways and repay you for all your abominations.
4 Mon œil sera pour toi sans pitié, Et je n’aurai point de miséricorde; Mais je te chargerai de tes voies, Et tes abominations seront au milieu de toi; Et vous saurez que je suis l’Éternel.
I will not look on you with pity, nor will I spare you, but I will punish you for your ways and for the abominations among you. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’
5 Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Un malheur, un malheur unique! Voici, il vient!
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Disaster! An unprecedented disaster — behold, it is coming!
6 La fin vient, la fin vient, elle se réveille contre toi! Voici, elle vient!
The end has come! The end has come! It has roused itself against you. Behold, it has come!
7 Ton tour arrive, habitant du pays! Le temps vient, le jour approche, jour de trouble, Et plus de cris de joie dans les montagnes!
Doom has come to you, O inhabitants of the land. The time has come; the day is near; there is panic on the mountains instead of shouts of joy.
8 Maintenant je vais bientôt répandre ma fureur sur toi, Assouvir sur toi ma colère; Je te jugerai selon tes voies, Je te chargerai de toutes tes abominations.
Very soon I will pour out My wrath upon you and vent My anger against you; I will judge you according to your ways and repay you for all your abominations.
9 Mon œil sera sans pitié, Et je n’aurai point de miséricorde; Je te chargerai de tes voies, Et tes abominations seront au milieu de toi. Et vous saurez que je suis l’Éternel, celui qui frappe.
I will not look on you with pity, nor will I spare you, but I will punish you for your ways and for the abominations among you. Then you will know that it is I, the LORD, who strikes the blow.
10 Voici le jour! Voici, il vient! Le tour arrive! La verge fleurit! L’orgueil s’épanouit!
Behold, the day is here! It has come! Doom has gone out, the rod has budded, arrogance has bloomed.
11 La violence s’élève, pour servir de verge à la méchanceté: Plus rien d’eux, de leur foule bruyante, de leur multitude! On ne se lamente pas sur eux!
Their violence has grown into a rod to punish their wickedness. None of them will remain: none of their multitude, none of their wealth, and nothing of value.
12 Le temps vient, le jour approche! Que l’acheteur ne se réjouisse pas, Que le vendeur ne s’afflige pas! Car la colère éclate contre toute leur multitude.
The time has come; the day has arrived. Let the buyer not rejoice and the seller not mourn, for wrath is upon the whole multitude.
13 Non, le vendeur ne recouvrera pas ce qu’il a vendu, Fût-il encore parmi les vivants; Car la prophétie contre toute leur multitude ne sera pas révoquée, Et à cause de son iniquité nul ne conservera sa vie.
The seller will surely not recover what he sold while both remain alive. For the vision concerning the whole multitude will not be revoked, and because of their iniquity, not one of them will preserve his life.
14 On sonne de la trompette, tout est prêt, Mais personne ne marche au combat; Car ma fureur éclate contre toute leur multitude.
They have blown the trumpet and made everything ready, but no one goes to war, for My wrath is upon the whole multitude.
15 L’épée au dehors, la peste et la famine au-dedans! Celui qui est aux champs mourra par l’épée, Celui qui est dans la ville sera dévoré par la famine et par la peste.
The sword is outside; plague and famine are within. Those in the country will die by the sword, and those in the city will be devoured by famine and plague.
16 Leurs fuyards s’échappent, Ils sont sur les montagnes, comme les colombes des vallées, Tous gémissant, Chacun sur son iniquité.
The survivors will escape and live in the mountains, moaning like doves of the valley, each for his own iniquity.
17 Toutes les mains sont affaiblies, Tous les genoux se fondent en eau.
Every hand will go limp, and every knee will turn to water.
18 Ils se ceignent de sacs, Et la terreur les enveloppe; Tous les visages sont confus, Toutes les têtes sont rasées.
They will put on sackcloth, and terror will overwhelm them. Shame will cover all their faces, and all their heads will be shaved.
19 Ils jetteront leur argent dans les rues, Et leur or sera pour eux un objet d’horreur; Leur argent et leur or ne pourront les sauver, Au jour de la fureur de l’Éternel; Ils ne pourront ni rassasier leur âme, Ni remplir leurs entrailles; Car c’est ce qui les a fait tomber dans leur iniquité.
They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will seem unclean. Their silver and gold cannot save them in the day of the wrath of the LORD. They cannot satisfy their appetites or fill their stomachs with wealth, for it became the stumbling block that brought their iniquity.
20 Ils étaient fiers de leur magnifique parure, Et ils en ont fabriqué les images de leurs abominations, de leurs idoles. C’est pourquoi je la rendrai pour eux un objet d’horreur;
His beautiful ornaments they transformed into pride and used them to fashion their vile images and detestable idols. Therefore I will make these into something unclean for them.
21 Je la donnerai en pillage aux mains des étrangers, Et comme butin aux impies de la terre, Afin qu’ils la profanent.
And I will hand these things over as plunder to foreigners and loot to the wicked of the earth, who will defile them.
22 Je détournerai d’eux ma face, Et l’on souillera mon sanctuaire; Des furieux y pénétreront, et le profaneront.
I will turn My face away from them, and they will defile My treasured place. Violent men will enter it, and they will defile it.
23 Prépare les chaînes! Car le pays est rempli de meurtres, La ville est pleine de violence.
Forge the chain, for the land is full of crimes of bloodshed, and the city is full of violence.
24 Je ferai venir les plus méchants des peuples, Pour qu’ils s’emparent de leurs maisons; Je mettrai fin à l’orgueil des puissants, Et leurs sanctuaires seront profanés.
So I will bring the most wicked of nations to take possession of their houses. I will end the pride of the mighty, and their holy places will be profaned.
25 La ruine vient! Ils cherchent le salut, et point de salut!
Anguish is coming! They will seek peace, but find none.
26 Il arrive malheur sur malheur, Un bruit succède à un bruit; Ils demandent des visions aux prophètes; Les sacrificateurs ne connaissent plus la loi, Les anciens n’ont plus de conseils.
Disaster upon disaster will come, and rumor after rumor. Then they will seek a vision from a prophet, but instruction from the priests will perish, as will counsel from the elders.
27 Le roi se désole, le prince s’épouvante, Les mains du peuple du pays sont tremblantes. Je les traiterai selon leurs voies, Je les jugerai comme ils le méritent, Et ils sauront que je suis l’Éternel.
The king will mourn, the prince will be clothed with despair, and the hands of the people of the land will tremble. I will deal with them according to their conduct, and I will judge them by their own standards. Then they will know that I am the LORD.’”
