Psaumes 8

1 Jusqu'à la Fin, au sujet des pressoirs à vin, un psaume de David. Seigneur, ô notre Dieu, que ton nom est admirable sur toute la terre! Car ta magnificence est élevée au-dessus des cieux.

For the chief musician; set to the gittith style. A psalm of David. Yahweh our Lord, how magnificent is your name in all the earth, you who reveal your glory in the heavens above.

2 Tu as mis la parfaite louange dans la bouche des enfants à la mamelle, à cause de tes ennemis, pour confondre le haineux et le vindicatif.

Out of the mouth of babies and infants you have established praise because of your enemies, so that you might silence both the enemy and the avenger.

3 Quand je vois les cieux, œuvres de tes doigts, la lune et les étoiles que tu as créées, je dis:

When I look up at your heavens, which your fingers have made, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,

4 Qu'est donc l'homme, pour que tu te souviennes de lui? ou le fils de l'homme, pour que tu le visites?

Of what importance is the human race that you notice them, or mankind that you pay attention to them?

5 Tu l'as fait un peu moindre que les anges; tu l'as couronné d'honneur et de gloire,

Yet you have made them only a little lower than the heavenly beings and have crowned them with glory and honor.

6 Et tu l'as mis à la tête des œuvres de tes mains! Tu as placé toutes choses sous ses pieds:

You make him to rule over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet:

7 Les brebis et tous les bœufs, et même les bêtes des champs;

all sheep and oxen, and even the animals of the field,

8 Les oiseaux du ciel, et les poissons de la mer et ceux qui parcourent les sentiers des mers.

the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, everything that passes through the currents of the seas.

9 Seigneur, notre Seigneur, que ton nom est admirable sur toute la terre!

Yahweh our Lord, how magnificent is your name in all the earth!
