Psaumes 60

1 Jusqu'à la Fin, pour ceux qui seront transformés, avec cette inscription de David: Instruction, Lorsqu'il incendia la Mésopotamie syrienne et la Syrie de Sobal, et que Joab revint, et qu'il tailla en pièces douze mille hommes dans le val des salines. O Dieu, tu nous as repoussés, tu nous as détruits, toi tu t'es mis en colère; puis tu as eu pitié de nous.

For the end, for them that shall yet be changed; for an inscription by David for instruction, when he [had] burned Mesopotamia of Syria, and Syria Sobal, and Joab [had] returned and struck [in] the valley of salt twelve thousand. O God, you have rejected and destroyed us; you have been angry, yet have pitied us.

2 Tu as ébranlé la terre, et tu l'as troublée; guéris ses meurtrissures, car elle a tremblé.

You have shaken the earth, and troubled it; heal its breaches, for it has been shaken.

3 Tu as montré ta sévérité à ton peuple; tu nous as fait boire le vin de la componction.

You have shown your people hard things: you has made us drink the wine of astonishment.

4 Tu as donné un signe à ceux qui te craignent pour qu'ils échappent aux atteintes de l'arc. Afin que tes bien-aimés soient délivrés,

You have given a token to them that fear you, that they might flee from the bow. (Pause)

5 Sauve-moi par ta droite, et exauce-moi.

That your beloved ones may be delivered; save with your right hand, and hear me.

6 Dieu a parlé en son saint temple; je me réjouirai, et je partagerai Sichem, et je mesurerai le val des Tabernacles.

God has spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, and divide Sicima, and measure out the valley of tents.

7 A moi est Galaad, à moi Manassé; Ephraïm est l'appui de ma tête, Juda est mon roi,

Galaad is mine, and Manasse is mine; and Ephraim is the strength of my head;

8 Et Moab, le vase de mon espérance; je poserai ma sandale sur l'Idumée; les étrangers me sont soumis.

Judas is my king; Moab is the caldron of my hope; over Idumea will I stretch out my shoe; the Philistines have been subjected to me.

9 Qui me ramènera dans la ville forte? Qui me guidera jusqu'à la terre d'Edom?

Who will lead me into the fortified city? who will guide me as far a Idumea?

10 N'est-ce pas toi, qui nous avais repoussés, ô Dieu, qui ne sortais plus à la tête de nos armées?

Will not you, O God, who have cast us off? and will not you, O God, go forth with our forces?

11 Donne-nous ton secours pour nous tirer de nos tribulations; car il est vain le salut qui vient de l'homme.

Give us help from trouble: for vain is the deliverance of man.

12 En Dieu nous mettrons notre force, et lui-même réduira à néant nos ennemis.

In God will we do valiantly; and he shall bring to nothing them that harass us.
