Juges 5
1 Ce jour-là, Débora et Barac, fils d'Abinéem, chantèrent ainsi:
Then sang Deborah with Barak the son of Abino'am on that day, saying,
2 Une révélation s'est faite en Israël, quand le peuple a été de bonne volonté; bénissez le Seigneur.
When depravity had broken out in Israel, then did the people offer themselves willingly; [therefore] praise ye the Lord.
3 Ecoutez, rois; prêtez l'oreille, princes; je vais chanter un psaume au Seigneur Dieu d'Israël.
Hear, O kings; give ear, O princes; I—unto the Lord will I sing; I will sing praise to the Lord, the God of Israel.
4 Seigneur, quand vous êtes sorti de Séir, quand vous avez quitté les champs d'Edom, la terre a tremblé, le ciel a fait tomber de la rosée, les nuages ont répandu de l'eau.
Lord, at thy going forth out of Seir, at thy marching along out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, also the heavens dropped, also the clouds dropped water.
5 Les montagnes ont été ébranlées à la face du Seigneur Eloï, et aussi le Sina, à la face du Seigneur Dieu d'Israël.
The mountains melted away because of the presence of the Lord, yonder Sinai, because of the presence of the Lord, the God of Israel.
6 Durant les jours de Samegar, fils d'Anath, durant les jours de Jaël, ils ont quitté les voies, ils ont pris des sentiers, ils ont suivi des chemins détournés.
In the days of Shamgar the son of 'Anath, in the days of Ja'el, the highways were unoccupied, and those who travelled on roads walked through crooked by-paths.
7 Les hommes forts ont manqué en Israël, ils ont manqué jusqu'à ce que vint Débora, jusqu'à ce que s'élevât une mère en Israël.
Desolate were the open towns in Israel, they were desolate, until that I arose, Deborah, that I arose a mother in Israel.
8 Ils s'étaient choisi de nouveaux dieux; alors, les ennemis ont attaqué même les villes des princes. Si l'on avait vu alors un bouclier et une lance parmi les quarante mille guerriers d'Israël!
They chose new gods, then was there war in the gates: was there a shield seen or a spear among forty thousand in Israel?
9 Mon cœur est tout aux commandements donnés à Israël; vous qui parmi le peuple êtes de bonne volonté, bénissez le Seigneur.
My heart [belongeth] to the governors of Israel, that offered themselves willingly among the people: praise ye the Lord.
10 Vous qui montez sur des ânesses belles et luisantes, vous qui êtes assis sur le siège où l'on rend la justice, vous qui vous avancez sur la route des sièges ou vers cette route; racontez ces hauts faits,
Ye that ride on white asses, ye that sit in judgment, and ye who walk on the way, utter praise!
11 Loin du bruit des perturbateurs, au milieu de ceux qui puisent paisiblement de l'eau, au lieu où l'on rend la justice. Seigneur, multipliez la justice en Israël. Alors, le peuple du Seigneur descendra aux portes de la ville.
[Urged on] by the voice of those who divide [the flocks] between the watering wells, there shall they rehearse the benefits of the Lord, the benefits toward his open towns in Israel; [for] now go down [again] to the gates the people of the Lord.
12 Réveille-toi, réveille-toi, Débora, réveille-toi, réveille-toi; chante un cantique; debout, ô Barac; emmène en captivité tes prisonniers, fils d'Abinéem.
Awake, awake, Deborah! awake, awake, utter a song! up, Barak, and lead away thy captives, son of Abino'am.
13 Ce jour-là, est descendu ce qui restait des forts. Le peuple du Seigneur est descendu avec le Seigneur, et les vaillants excités par moi.
Then obtained dominion a few that had escaped for the nobles among the people—the Lord gave me dominion over the mighty.
14 Ephraïm les a déracinés en Amalec, et, à votre suite, Seigneur, Benjamin et tout votre peuple. Ceux de Machir sont descendus avec moi, ardents à chercher l'ennemi; et ceux de Zabulon, même ceux qui maniaient la plume des scribes raconteurs.
They whose root is out of Ephraim were against 'Amalek; after thee, Benjamin, with thy armies; out of Machir came down lawgivers, and out of Zebulun they that handle the pen of the writer.
15 Les princes d'Issachar étaient avec Débora; ainsi, elle envoya Balac à pied dans les vallons, sur le territoire de Ruben, où il y a grandes angoisses atteignant le cœur.
And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah; yea Issachar, the support of Barak; into the valley he hastened down in his train; [but] at the streams of Reuben there were great thoughts of heart.
16 Pourquoi demeurent-ils, au milieu des parcs, à entendre les beuglements de leurs grands troupeaux, pendant les discordes de Ruben? là, il y a de grandes épreuves du cœur.
Why didst thou sit among the sheepfolds to hear the bleatings of the flocks? At the streams of Reuben there were great searchings of heart.
17 Galaad est de l'autre côté du Jourdain, ou il a dressé ses tentes. Et Dan, pourquoi se tient-il sur ses barques? Aser s'est assis sur la côte maritime, il habite vers les embouchures de ses cours d'eau.
Gil'ad abode beyond the Jordan; and Dan—why would he tarry in ships? Asher remained on the seashore, and abode near his bays.
18 Le peuple de Zabulon a exposé sa vie à la mort; Nephthali est venu sur les hauts lieux de sa terre.
Zebulun is a people that jeoparded its life unto death, and Naphtali—on the high places of the [battle] field.
19 Les rois se sont ranges en bataille, les rois de Chanaan ont combattu en Thanaach, près des eaux de Mageddo; ils n'ont point recueilli de butin.
There came kings, [and] fought, then fought the kings of Canaan, in Ta'anach by the waters of Megiddo: gain of money they took not away.
20 Les étoiles, du haut du ciel, ont pris part à la lutte, sans quitter leurs voies; elles ont combattu contre Sisara.
From heaven they fought—the stars in their courses fought against Sissera.
21 Le torrent de Cison les a balayés, le torrent des anciens, le torrent de Cison! Mon âme dans sa force foulera aux pieds les ennemis.
The stream of Kishon swept them away, that ancient stream, the stream of Kishon: step along, O my soul, in victorious strength.
22 Lorsque les jambes des chevaux furent embarrassées, ses forts se hâtèrent de fuir.
Then were crushed the hoofs of the horses, through the prancings, the prancings of their mighty ones.
23 Maudite soit Méroz, dit l'ange du Seigneur, maudissez-la. Maudits soient tous ceux qui l'habitent, parce qu'ils ne sont point venus au secours du Seigneur, parce qu'ils ne lui ont point envoyé leurs hommes vaillants.
Curse ye Meroz, saith the messenger of the Lord, yea, curse ye bitterly its inhabitants; because they came not to the help of the Lord, to the help of the Lord among the mighty.
24 Bénie soit, parmi les femmes, Jaël, l'épouse d'Haber le Cinéen; que sous leurs tentes les femmes la bénissent.
Blessed above [other] women shall be Ja'el the wife of Cheber the Kenite, above [other] women [dwelling] in the tent may she be blessed.
25 Il avait demandé de l'eau; elle lui donna du lait dans une coupe; elle lui présenta le beurre que l'on offre aux grands;
Water he asked, milk she gave [him]: in a lordly dish she brought him cream.
26 Elle étendit sa main gauche vers le clou et sa main droite vers le marteau des travailleurs; elle en frappa Sisara, elle fit entrer le clou dans sa tête, et elle frappa encore, et elle poussa le clou au travers de sa tempe.
Her hand she put forth to the nail, and her right hand to the laborious workmen's hammer; and she hammered Sissera, she struck his head, and crushed and smote through his temple.
27 Et il roula entre ses pieds, il défaillit, et il mourut entre ses pieds; il s'était étendu devant elle, et il mourut dans son sommeil, et, au lieu même ou il s'était endormi, la vie l'abandonna.
Between her feet he bent, he fell, he lay; between her feet he bent, he fell: where he had bent, there he fell down, bereft of life.
28 La mère de Sisara s'est penchée à sa fenêtre, et, regardant par le treillis, elle a dit: Pourquoi son char tarde-t-il? D'où vient que son attelage se fait attendre?
Out of the window looked and moaned the mother of Sissera, through the lattice, Why tarrieth his chariot so long in coming? why lag the wheels of his chariot?
29 Les sages princesses qui l'entouraient lui ont répondu, et elle-même a répété leurs paroles:
The wise among her ladies answered her, she also returned a reply to herself.
30 Ne le trouvera-t-on pas distribuant le butin? Mais elle pleurera, et pleurera sur la tête de l'homme; des étoffes teintes pour Sisara, des étoffes teintes de couleurs diverses, de riches étoffes, des dépouilles, tout autour de sa tête!
Will they not find, —divide booty? one maiden, two maidens for every man, a booty of colored garments for Sissera, a booty of colored embroidered garments, colored, double-worked garments round the necks of the captives!
31 Ainsi périssent tous vos ennemis, ô Seigneur! Que ceux qui aiment le Seigneur soient comme le lever du soleil dans toute sa puissance. La terre ensuite fut en repos durant quarante années.
Thus may perish all thy enemies, O Lord; but may those that love him be as the rising of the sun in his might. And the land had rest forty years.
