Osée 13

1 À la parole de Jéroboam, Éphraïm a pris lui-même des commandements en Israël et les a mis devant Baal, et Éphraïm est mort.

According to the word of Ephraim he adopted ordinances for himself in Israel; and he established them for Baal, and died.

2 Et maintenant ils continuent de pécher, et ils se sont fait de leur argent des statues en fonte à l'image des idoles, œuvres accomplies d'un artiste; et ils se disent entre eux: Sacrifiez des hommes, car il y a disette de bœufs!

And now they have sinned increasingly, and have made for themselves a molten image of their silver, according to the fashion of idols, the work of artificers accomplished for them: they say, Sacrifice men, for the calves have come to an end.

3 À cause de cela, ils seront comme le nuage du matin, comme la rosée qui vient à l'aurore, comme la poudre que le vent emporte hors de l'aire, comme la vapeur des larmes.

Therefore shall they be as a morning cloud, and as the early dew that passes away, as chaff blown away from the threshing floor, and as a vapor from tears.

4 Moi, le Seigneur ton Dieu, qui ai affermi le ciel; Moi, le Créateur de la terre, Moi, dont les mains ont créé toute l'armée céleste, Je ne t'ai point montré ces créatures pour que tu chemines après elles; c'est Moi qui t'ai délivré de la terre d'Égypte, et tu ne connaîtras point d'autre Dieu que Moi, et nul autre que Moi ne sauve.

But I am the Lord your God that establishes the heaven, and creates the earth, whose hands have framed the whole host of heaven: but I showed them not to you that you should go after them: and I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and you shall know no God but me; and there is no Saviour beside me.

5 J'ai été ton pasteur dans le désert, en une terre inhabitée

I tended you as a shepherd in the wilderness, in an uninhabited land.

6 et sans pâturages; et ils s'y sont rassasiés et remplis, et leurs cœurs se sont enorgueillis, et à cause de cela ils M'ont oublié.

According to their pastures, so they were completely filled; and their hearts were exalted; therefore they forgot me.

7 Et Je serai pour eux comme une panthère et comme un léopard, sur la route de l'Assyrie.

And I will be to them as a panther, and as a leopard.

8 J'accourrai au-devant d'eux comme une ourse affamée, et Je briserai l'enveloppe de leurs cœurs, et les lionceaux de la forêt les dévoreront, et les bête fauves les mettront en lambeaux.

I will meet them by the way of the Assyrians, as a she-bear excited, and I will rend the caul of their heart, and the lions' whelps of the thicket shall devour them there; the wild beasts of the field shall rend them in pieces.

9 En ta destruction, ô Israël, qui te portera secours?

O Israel, who will aid [you] in your destruction?

10 Où est celui-là? Est-ce ton roi? Qu'il te sauve en toutes tes villes; qu'il te juge celui à qui tu as dit: Donne-moi un roi et un prince!

Where is this your king? let him even save you in all your cities: let him judge you, of whom you said, Give me a king and a prince.

11 Je t'ai donné un roi dans Ma colère, et Je t'ai traité dans Mon courroux.

And I gave you a king in mine anger, and kept [him] back in my wrath.

12 Éphraïm a fait un complot d'iniquité; son impiété a été cachée.

Ephraim [has framed] a conspiracy of unrighteousness, his sin is hidden.

13 Les douleurs de la femme qui enfante lui viendront. celui-là est ton fils, le Sage, parce qu'il ne se tiendra pas immobile pendant le massacre de tes enfants.

Pains as of a woman in travail shall come upon him: he is your wise son, because he shall not stay in the destruction of [your] children.

14 Je les tirerai de l'enfer, dira-t-il; je les affranchirai tous de la mort. Ô mort, où est ta sentence? Enfer, où est ton aiguillon? Mais cette consolation est cachée à mes yeux. (Sheol h7585)

I will deliver [them] out of the power of Hades, and will redeem them from death: where is your penalty, O death? O Hades, where is your sting? comfort is hidden from mine eyes. (Sheol h7585)

15 Et quand l'enfer sèmera la division entre les frères, le Seigneur enverra contre lui un vent brûlant du désert, et Il desséchera les veines de la mort, et Il tarira ses sources; Lui-même fera de ses champs une terre aride, et enlèvera ses vases les plus précieux. (questioned)

Forasmuch as he will cause a division among [his] brethren, the Lord shall bring upon him an east wind from the desert, and shall dry up his veins [and] quite drain his fountains: he shall dry up his land, and [spoil] all his precious vessels.

16 Samarie sera détruite, parce qu'elle s'est révoltée contre son Dieu. Ils périront par le glaive; tous ses enfants à la mamelle seront écrasés à terre, et les femmes enceintes seront déchirées.

Samaria shall be utterly destroyed: for she has resisted her God; they shall fall by the sword, and their sucklings shall be dashed against the ground, and their women with child ripped up.
