Osée 11

1 Israël est un enfant, et Moi Je l'aimais, et J'ai rappelé ses fils de l'Égypte.

Early in the morning were they cast off, the king of Israel has been cast off: for Israel is a child, and I loved him, and out of Egypt have I called his children.

2 Autant Je les ai rappelés, autant ils sont éloignés de Moi; ils ont sacrifié à Baal, et ils ont encensé des idoles.

As I called them, so they departed from my presence: they sacrificed to Baalim, and burnt incense to graven images.

3 Et Moi J'ai bandé les pieds d'Éphraïm, et Je l'ai pris dans Mes bras, et ils n'ont point connu que Je les guérissais.

Yet I bound the feet of Ephraim, I took him on my arm; but they knew not that I healed them.

4 Au milieu de la perdition des hommes, je les ai enveloppés dans les nuages de Mon amour, et maintenant Je serai pour eux comme un homme qui en frappe un autre à la joue, et Je Me retournerai sur Éphraïm, et Je prévaudrai contre lui.

When men were destroyed, I drew them with the bands of my love: and I will be to them as a man smiting [another] on his cheek: and I will have respect to him, I will prevail with him.

5 Éphraïm a demeuré en Égypte, et Assur lui-même a été son roi, parce qu'il n'a pas voulu se convertir.

Ephraim dwelt in Egypt; and [as for] the Assyrian, he was his king, because he would not return.

6 Et dans ses villes il a été vaincu par le glaive, et il a cessé de le tenir en ses mains; et ils se nourriront des fruits de leurs conseils.

And in his cities he prevailed not with the sword, and he ceased [to war] with his hands: and they shall eat [of the fruit] of their own devices:

7 Et le peuple de Dieu sera en suspens dans le lieu de son exil, et Dieu S'irritera des choses mêmes qu'ils estiment le plus, et Il ne l'exaltera point.

and his people [shall] cleave fondly to their habitation; but God shall be angry with his precious things, and shall not at all exalt him.

8 Que ferai-Je avec toi, Éphraïm? Serai-Je ton protecteur? Ô Israël, que ferai-Je avec toi? Je te traiterai comme Adama et Seboïm. Mon cœur a changé pour toi, et tu as excité tous Mes regrets.

How shall I deal with thee, Ephraim? [how] shall I protect thee, Israel? what shall I do with thee? I will make thee as Adama, and as Seboim; my heart is turned at once, my repentance is powerfully excited.

9 Mais Je n'agirai point selon le courroux de Mon âme; Je n'abandonnerai point Éphraïm, pour qu'il soit effacé; car Je suis Dieu, et non un homme; un Saint est en toi, et Je n'entrerai pas dans ta ville.

I will not act according to the fury of my wrath, I will not abandon Ephraim to be utterly destroyed: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One within thee: and I will not enter into the city.

10 Je marcherai après le Seigneur; Il rugira comme un lion; il rugira, et les enfants des eaux seront saisis de stupeur.

I will go after the Lord: he shall utter [his voice] as a lion: for he shall roar, and the children of the waters shall be amazed.

11 Les enfants de Mon peuple aussi seront saisis de stupeur, et fuiront de l'Égypte comme un oiseau, et de la terre des Assyriens comme une colombe, et Je les ferai rentrer dans leurs demeures, dit le Seigneur.

They shall be amazed [and fly] as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of the Assyrians: and I will restore them to their houses, saith the Lord.

12 Éphraïm M'a entouré de ses mensonges, Israël et Juda de leurs impiétés; maintenant Dieu les connaît, et le peuple saint s'appellera le peuple de Dieu.

Ephraim has compassed me with falsehood, and the house of Israel and Juda with ungodliness: [but] now God knows them, and they shall be called God's holy people.
