2 Chroniques 17
1 Et Josaphat, son fils, régna à sa place, et il prévalut sur Israël.
And he became king Jehoshaphat son his in place of him and he strengthened himself on Israel.
2 Il mit des garnisons dans toutes les places fortes de Juda, et donna des chefs à toutes les villes de Juda et aux villes d'Ephraïm dont son père, Asa, s'était emparé.
And he put an army in all [the] cities of Judah fortified and he put garrisons in [the] land of Judah and in [the] cities of Ephraim which he had captured Asa father his.
3 Et le Seigneur fut avec Josaphat, parce qu'il marcha dans les voies qu'avait d'abord suivies son père, et qu'il ne chercha point les idoles,
And he was Yahweh with Jehoshaphat for he walked in [the] ways of David ancestor his former and not he sought the Baals.
4 Mais qu'il chercha le Seigneur Dieu de son père, et qu'il marcha selon les préceptes de son père, et non selon les œuvres d'Israël.
For [the] God of father his he sought and in commandments his he walked and not according to [the] deed[s] of Israel.
5 Et le Seigneur fit prospérer le royaume entre ses mains, et tout Juda offrit des présents à Josaphat, qui acquit ainsi beaucoup de gloire et de richesses.
And he established Yahweh the kingdom in hand his and they gave all Judah tribute to Jehoshaphat and it belonged to him wealth and honor to abundance.
6 Et son cœur fut exalté dans les voies du Seigneur, et il détruisit les hauts lieux et les bois sacrés sur le territoire de Juda.
And it was high heart his in [the] ways of Yahweh and again he removed the high places and the Asherah poles from Judah.
7 En la troisième année de son règne, il envoya, pour enseigner dans les villes de Juda, ses chefs et les fils des hommes vaillants: Abdias, Zacharie, Nathanaël et Michée,
And in year three of reigning his he sent officials his Ben-Hail and Obadiah and Zechariah and Nethanel and Micaiah to teach in [the] cities of Judah.
8 Et, avec eux, les lévites Samaies, Nathanias, Zabdies, Asihel, Semiranaoth, Jonathas, Adonias, Tobias et Tobadonias; tous lévites, et les prêtres Elisama et Joram.
And [were] with them the Levites Shemaiah and Nethaniah and Zebadiah and Asahel (and Shemiramoth *QK) and Jonathan and Adonijah and Tobijah and Tob-Adonijah the Levites and [were] with them Elishama and Jehoram the priests.
9 Et ils enseignèrent en Juda; ils avaient le livre de la loi du Seigneur, ils le lisaient dans les villes de Juda, et ils instruisaient le peuple.
And they taught in Judah and [was] with them [the] book of [the] law of Yahweh and they went round in all [the] cities of Judah and they taught among the people.
10 Et un grand trouble, venant du Seigneur, se répandit parmi les rois qui entouraient Juda, et ils ne firent point la guerre à Josaphat.
And it was - [the] dread of Yahweh on all [the] kingdoms of the lands which [were] around Judah and not they waged war with Jehoshaphat.
11 Les Philistins lui envoyèrent de l'argent et d'autres dons; les Arabes lui amenèrent sept mille sept cents moutons et béliers.
And some of [the] Philistines [were] bringing to Jehoshaphat tribute and silver a load also the Arabs [were] bringing to him flock[s] rams seven thousand and seven hundred and male goats seven thousand and seven hundred.
12 Et Josaphat alla toujours croissant jusqu'à la magnificence, et il bâtit en Judée des palais et des forteresses.
And it was Jehoshaphat [was] going and [was] becoming great to upwards and he built in Judah fortresses and cities of storage.
13 Et il exécuta de nombreux travaux en Judée, et eut à Jérusalem des guerriers vaillants.
And property much it belonged to him in [the] cities of Judah and men of war mighty [men] of strength [were] in Jerusalem.
14 En voici le dénombrement par familles paternelles; en Juda, commandants de mille hommes: Ednas le chef, et avec lui trois cent mille hommes vaillants;
And these [were] group[s] their to [the] house of ancestors their of Judah commanders of thousands Adnah [was] the commander and [were] with him mighty [men] of strength three hundred thousand.
15 Joanan, et avec lui deux cent quatre-vingt mille hommes;
And on hand his Jehohanan the commander and with him two hundred and eighty thousand.
16 Amasias, fils de Zari, plein de zèle pour le Seigneur, et avec lui deux cent mille vaillants;
And on hand his Amasiah [the] son of Zikri who volunteered to Yahweh and with him two hundred thousand mighty [man] of strength.
17 Et en Benjamin: Eliada, et avec lui deux cent mille archers ou fantassins armés à la légère;
And from Benjamin a mighty [man] of strength Eliada and with him [men] equipped of bow and shield two hundred thousand.
18 Et Jozabad, et avec lui cent quatre-vingt mille hommes aguerris.
And on hand his Jehozabad and with him one hundred and eighty thousand [men] equipped of war.
19 Tels étaient ceux qui servaient le roi, outre ceux qu'il avait placés dans toutes les forteresses de la Judée.
These [were] the [ones who] served the king besides [those] whom he put the king in [the] cities of fortification in all Judah.
