Proverbes 15
1 Une réplique pleine de douceur détourne le courroux; une parole blessante surexcite la colère.
A SOFT answer turneth away wrath: but a grievous word stirreth up anger.
2 Le langage des sages rend la science aimable; la bouche des sots n’épanche que folie.
The tongue of the wise uttereth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out folly.
3 Les regards de l’Eternel se portent partout, observant méchants et bons.
The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch upon the evil and the good.
4 Une langue bienveillante est comme un arbre de vie; mais perfide, elle brise le cœur.
A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breaking of the spirit.
5 L’Insensé méprise les leçons de son père; qui tient compte des réprimandes, est bien avisé.
A fool despiseth his father’s correction: but he that regardeth reproof getteth prudence.
6 La maison du juste est un grenier d’abondance; la récolte du méchant est menacée de ruine.
In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.
7 Les lèvres des sages propagent la science; le cœur des sots n’est qu’insanité.
The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish [doeth] not so.
8 Le sacrifice des impies est en horreur à l’Eternel; mais il prend plaisir à la prière des gens de bien.
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
9 L’Eternel a horreur de la conduite du méchant; mais il aime celui qui s’attache passionnément à la justice.
The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
10 Un sévère châtiment menace celui qui abandonne la bonne voie; qui hait les remontrances périt.
There is grievous correction for him that forsaketh the way: [and] he that hateth reproof shall die.
11 Le Cheol et l’empire du néant sont sous les regards de l’Eternel; combien plus le cœur des humains! (Sheol h7585)
Sheol and Abaddon are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men! (Sheol h7585)
12 Le persifleur n’aime pas qu’on le réprimande; il ne fréquente pas les sages.
A scorner loveth not to be reproved: he will not go unto the wise.
13 Un cœur joyeux rend le visage serein; le cœur souffre-t-il, l’esprit est abattu.
A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.
14 Le cœur de l’homme intelligent recherche le savoir; la bouche des sots se repaît de folie.
The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on folly.
15 Les jours du pauvre sont tous mauvais; mais qui a le cœur content est perpétuellement en fête.
All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a cheerful heart [hath] a continual feast.
16 Mieux vaut une fortune médiocre avec la crainte de l’Eternel qu’une grande richesse, accompagnée de trouble.
Better is little with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure and trouble therewith.
17 Mieux vaut un plat de choux, quand on s’aime, qu’un bœuf gras quand on se hait.
Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.
18 L’Homme irascible excite des disputes; un tempérament paisible apaise les querelles.
A wrathful man stirreth up contention: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
19 Le chemin du paresseux est comme un fouillis d’épines; la voie des hommes de bien est toute frayée.
The way of the sluggard is as an hedge of thorns: but the path of the upright is made an highway.
20 Un fils sage réjouit son père, mais un homme sot méprise sa mère.
A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
21 La sottise fait la joie de l’homme inintelligent; l’homme raisonnable dirige bien sa marche.
Folly is joy to him that is void of wisdom: but a man of understanding maketh straight his going.
22 Faute de délibération, les projets échouent; ils réussissent, si les conseillers sont nombreux.
Where there is no counsel, purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
23 C’Est une joie pour l’homme de trouver des répliques: combien précieuse une parole dite à propos!
A man hath joy in the answer of his mouth: and a word in due season, how good is it!
24 Pour l’homme intelligent, le chemin de la vie se dirige vers les hauteurs; ainsi il évite les bas-fonds du Cheol. (Sheol h7585)
To the wise the way of life [goeth] upward, that he may depart from Sheol beneath. (Sheol h7585)
25 L’Eternel démolit la maison orgueilleuse; mais il consolide la borne de la veuve.
The LORD will root up the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.
26 L’Eternel a horreur des pensées mauvaises; pures à ses yeux sont les paroles bienveillantes.
Evil devices are an abomination to the LORD: but pleasant words [are] pure.
27 Qui poursuit le lucre ruine sa maison; qui hait les présents vivra.
He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house: but he that hateth gifts shall live.
28 Le cœur du juste réfléchit avant de répondre; la bouche des pervers répand à flots les mauvaises paroles.
The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
29 L’Eternel est loin des méchants, mais il entend la prière des justes.
The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
30 La lumière qui éclaire les yeux réjouit le cœur; une bonne nouvelle est une sève bienfaisante au corps.
The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: [and] good tidings make the bones fat.
31 Prêter une oreille attentive aux instructions salutaires, c’est mériter de vivre parmi les sages.
The ear that hearkeneth to the reproof of life shall abide among the wise.
32 Qui délaisse la morale fait bon marché de sa personne; qui écoute les réprimandes acquiert de l’intelligence.
He that refuseth correction despiseth his own soul: but he that hearkeneth to reproof getteth understanding.
33 La leçon de la sagesse, c’est la crainte de l’Eternel; l’honneur a pour avant-garde la modestie.
The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour [goeth] humility.
