Isaïe 55
1 Ah! Vous tous qui avez soif, venez, voici de l’eau! Vous qui n’avez point d’argent, venez, approvisionnez-vous et mangez; gratuitement, sans rétribution, venez, fournissez-vous de vin et de lait!
Ho, euery one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and ye that haue no siluer, come, bye and eate: come, I say, bye wine and milke without siluer and without money.
2 Pourquoi dépensez-vous de l’argent pour un pain qui ne nourrit point, le fruit de vos peines pour un aliment qui ne rassasie pas? Ecoutez, écoutez-moi! Alors vous mangerez ce qui est bon, et votre âme se délectera de mets savoureux.
Wherefore doe ye lay out siluer and not for bread? and your labour without being satisfied? hearken diligently vnto me, and eate that which is good, and let your soule delite in fatnes.
3 Prêtez-moi l’oreille et venez à moi, écoutez et votre âme renaîtra, et je vous accorderai une alliance indissoluble, les bienfaits durables promis à David.
Encline your eares, and come vnto me: heare, and your soule shall liue, and I will make an euerlasting couenant with you, euen the sure mercies of Dauid.
4 Certes, je l’ai établi comme un témoin pour les nations, comme le guide et le législateur des peuples.
Beholde, I gaue him for a witnes to the people, for a prince and a master vnto the people.
5 Des nations à toi inconnues, tu les convoqueras; des peuples qui ne te connaissent pas accourront à toi, en l’honneur de l’Eternel, ton Dieu, et du Saint d’Israël, qui a voulu te rendre illustre.
Beholde, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and a nation that knew not thee, shall runne vnto thee, because of the Lord thy God, and the holy one of Israel: for hee hath glorified thee.
6 Cherchez le Seigneur pendant qu’il est accessible! Appelez-le tandis qu’il est proche!
Seeke ye the Lord while he may be found: call ye vpon him while he is neere.
7 Que le pervers abandonne sa voie, et l’impie ses machinations, qu’il revienne à l’Eternel, il aura pitié de lui, à notre Dieu, car il prodigue son pardon!
Let the wicked forsake his wayes, and the vnrighteous his owne imaginations, and returne vnto the Lord, and he wil haue mercy vpon him: and to our God, for hee is very ready to forgiue.
8 Car vos pensées ne sont pas mes pensées, ni vos voies ne sont mes voies, dit l’Eternel.
For my thoughtes are not your thoughts, neither are your wayes my wayes, sayth the Lord.
9 Mais autant les cieux sont élevés au-dessus de la terre, autant mes voies sont au-dessus de vos voies, et mes pensées de vos pensées.
For as ye heauens are higher then the earth, so are my wayes higher then your wayes, and my thoughtes aboue your thoughts.
10 Oui, comme la neige et la pluie, une fois descendues du ciel, n’y retournent pas avant d’avoir humecté la terre, de l’avoir fécondée et fait produire, d’avoir assuré la semence au semeur et le pain au consommateur,
Surely as the raine commeth downe and the snow from heauen, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth and maketh it to bring forth and bud, that it may giue seede to the sower, and bread vnto him that eateth,
11 telle est ma parole: une fois sortie de ma bouche, elle ne me revient pas à vide, sans avoir accompli mon vouloir et mené à bonne fin la mission que je lui ai confiée.
So shall my worde be, that goeth out of my mouth: it shall not returne vnto me voyde, but it shall accomplish that which I will, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
12 Aussi, avec joie, vous vous mettrez en marche, reconduits par un cortège pacifique; devant vous, montagnes et collines éclateront en cris d’allégresse, et tous les arbres des champs battront des mains.
Therefore ye shall go out with ioy, and be led forth with peace: the mountaines and the hilles shall breake foorth before you into ioye, and all the trees of the fielde shall clap their handes.
13 Où croissaient les broussailles croîtra le cyprès, et à la place de l’ortie, le myrte s’élèvera; et ce sera pour l’Eternel un titre de gloire, un monument éternel et impérissable.
For thornes there shall grow firre trees: for nettles shall growe the myrrhe tree, and it shalbe to the Lord for a name, and for an euerlasting signe that shall not be taken away.
