2 Chroniques 35

1 Josias célébra la Pâque en l’honneur de l’Eternel à Jérusalem, et on immola la Pâque le quatorzième jour du premier mois.

Moreover Josiah kept a passover unto the LORD in Jerusalem: and they killed the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month.

2 Il établit les prêtres dans leurs charges et les encouragea au service du temple de l’Eternel.

And he set the priests in their charges, and encouraged them to the service of the house of the LORD,

3 Il dit aux Lévites qui enseignaient à tout Israël et qui étaient consacrés à l’Eternel: "Mettez l’arche sainte dans le temple qu’a construit Salomon, fils de David, roi d’Israël; vous n’avez plus à la porter sur l’épaule. A présent, servez l’Eternel, votre Dieu, et son peuple Israël.

And said unto the Levites that taught all Israel, which were holy unto the LORD, Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel did build; it shall not be a burden upon your shoulders: serve now the LORD your God, and his people Israel,

4 Soyez prêts par maisons paternelles, selon vos divisions, suivant le programme de David, roi d’Israël, et celui de Salomon, son fils.

And prepare yourselves by the houses of your fathers, after your courses, according to the writing of David king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son.

5 Tenez-vous dans le sanctuaire selon les sections des maisons paternelles, pour vos frères, les enfants du peuple, et selon le partage des maisons paternelles des Lévites.

And stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the families of the fathers of your brethren the people, and after the division of the families of the Levites.

6 Immolez la Pâque, sanctifiez-vous, tenez-vous prêts pour vos frères, en vous conformant à la parole de l’Eternel transmise par Moïse."

So kill the passover, and sanctify yourselves, and prepare your brethren, that they may do according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

7 Josias préleva pour les gens du peuple, pour tous ceux qui étaient là, du menu bétail, agneaux et chevreaux, le tout destiné aux sacrifices pascaux, au nombre de trente mille têtes et trois mille têtes de gros bétail, tout cela pris sur les biens du roi.

And Josiah gave to the people, of the flock, lambs and kids, all for the passover offerings, for all that were present, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand bullocks: these were of the king's substance.

8 Les chefs aussi prélevèrent un présent pour le peuple, les prêtres et les Lévites; Hilkiyya, Zacharie, Yehïêl, intendants du temple de Dieu, donnèrent aux prêtres deux mille six cents agneaux pascaux et trois cents bœufs.

And his princes gave willingly unto the people, to the priests, and to the Levites: Hilkiah and Zechariah and Jehiel, rulers of the house of God, gave unto the priests for the passover offerings two thousand and six hundred small cattle and three hundred oxen.

9 Conanyahou, Chemayahou et Netanel, ses frères, et Hachabiahou, Yeïêl et Jozabad, chefs des Lévites, firent don aux Lévites de cinq mille agneaux pascaux et de cinq cents bœufs.

Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethaneel, his brethren, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, chief of the Levites, gave unto the Levites for passover offerings five thousand small cattle, and five hundred oxen.

10 Le service prêt, les princes se tinrent à leur place et les Lévites dans leurs divisions, selon l’ordre du roi.

So the service was prepared, and the priests stood in their place, and the Levites in their courses, according to the king's commandment.

11 Ils immolèrent la Pâque; les prêtres lancèrent le sang reçu de leurs mains, et les Lévites firent le dépouillement des victimes.

And they killed the passover, and the priests sprinkled the blood from their hands, and the Levites flayed them.

12 Ils mirent de côté les holocaustes, pour les donner, selon les divisions des maisons paternelles, aux gens du peuple, afin de les offrir à l’Eternel suivant les prescriptions du livre de Moïse, et il en fut de même du gros bétail.

And they removed the burnt offerings, that they might give according to the divisions of the families of the people, to offer unto the LORD, as it is written in the book of Moses. And so did they with the oxen.

13 On cuisit la Pâque au feu, selon la règle; quant aux choses saintes, on les cuisit dans des marmites, des chaudrons et des poêles, et on s’empressa de les donner à tous les gens du peuple.

And they roasted the passover with fire according to the ordinance: but the other holy offerings cook they in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and divided them speedily among all the people.

14 Ensuite ils apprêtèrent ce qui leur revenait, à eux et aux prêtres, car les prêtres, descendants d’Aaron, furent occupés à offrir les holocaustes et les graisses jusqu’à la nuit. Aussi les Lévites préparèrent-ils tout pour eux-mêmes et pour les prêtres, descendants d’Aaron.

And afterward they made ready for themselves, and for the priests: because the priests the sons of Aaron were busied in offering of burnt offerings and the fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests the sons of Aaron.

15 Les chantres de la maison d’Assaph étaient à leur poste selon l’ordonnance de David, d’Assaph, de Hêman et de Yedoutoun, Voyant du roi, et les portiers occupaient chaque porte; ils n’eurent pas à s’écarter de leur service, car les Lévites, leurs frères, avaient tout préparé pour eux.

And the singers the sons of Asaph were in their place, according to the commandment of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun the king's seer; and the porters waited at every gate; they might not depart from their service; for their brethren the Levites prepared for them.

16 Ainsi fut assuré tout le service du Seigneur ce jour-là pour célébrer la Pâque et offrir des holocaustes sur l’autel de l’Eternel, selon l’ordre du roi Josias.

So all the service of the LORD was prepared the same day, to keep the passover, and to offer burnt offerings upon the altar of the LORD, according to the commandment of king Josiah.

17 Tous les Israélites qui se trouvaient là célébrèrent la Pâque en ce temps-là ainsi que la fête des Azymes durant sept jours.

And the children of Israel that were present kept the passover at that time, and the feast of unleavened bread seven days.

18 L’On n’avait pas célébré une telle Pâque en Israël depuis l’époque du prophète Samuel, et aucun des rois d’Israël n’avait rien fait de comparable à la Pâque que célébra Josias ainsi que les prêtres, les Lévites, tout Juda et Israël qui se trouvaient là et les habitants de Jérusalem.

And there was no passover like to that kept in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet; neither did all the kings of Israel keep such a passover as Josiah kept, and the priests, and the Levites, and all Judah and Israel that were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

19 C’Est dans la dix-huitième année du règne de Josias que fut célébrée cette Pâque.

In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah was this passover kept.

20 Après que Josias eut ainsi organisé tout le service du temple, Nekho, roi d’Egypte, monta guerroyer à Kharkhemich sur l’Euphrate, et Josias sortit à sa rencontre.

After all this, when Josiah had prepared the temple, Necho king of Egypt came up to fight against Charchemish by Euphrates: and Josiah went out against him.

21 Mais Nekho lui fit dire par des messagers: "Qu’y a-t-il entre moi et toi, roi de Juda? Ce n’est pas à toi que j’en ai aujourd’hui, mais à la maison avec qui je suis en guerre, et Dieu m’a ordonné de me hâter. Laisse faire à Dieu, qui est avec moi, afin qu’il ne te détruise pas."

But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with you, you king of Judah? I come not against you this day, but against the house wherewith I have war: for God commanded me to make haste: forbear you from meddling with God, who is with me, that he destroy you not.

22 Mais Josias ne se détourna point de lui. Il se déguisa pour se battre avec lui et n’écouta pas les paroles de Nekho, inspirées de Dieu. Il vint livrer bataille dans la plaine de Meghiddo.

Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and hearkened not unto the words of Necho from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo.

23 Les archers tirèrent sur le roi Josias, et le roi dit à ses serviteurs: "Transportez-moi, car je suis grièvement blessé."

And the archers shot at king Josiah; and the king said to his servants, Have me away; for I am sore wounded.

24 Ses serviteurs l’enlevèrent de son char, le mirent sur un autre char qu’il avait et le conduisirent à Jérusalem, où il mourut. Il fut enseveli dans le sépulcre de ses ancêtres, et tout Juda et Jérusalem prirent le deuil pour Josias.

His servants therefore took him out of that chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had; and they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died, and was buried in one of the sepulchers of his fathers. And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.

25 Jérémie fit une complainte sur Josias; tous les chantres et chanteuses ont célébré Josias dans leurs élégies jusqu’à ce jour, et ils en ont fait une coutume obligatoire en Israël. Elles se trouvent consignées parmi les Elégies.

And Jeremiah lamented for Josiah: and all the singing men and the singing women spoke of Josiah in their lamentations to this day, and made them an ordinance in Israel: and, behold, they are written in the lamentations.

26 Pour le surplus des faits et gestes de Josias et ses actes de piété conformes aux prescriptions de la Loi de l’Eternel,

Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and his goodness, according to that which was written in the law of the LORD,

27 ses premières et ses dernières actions, tout cela est consigné dans le livre des Rois d’Israël et de Juda.

And his deeds, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
