Isaïe 26
1 En ce jour-là sera chanté ce cantique dans le pays de Juda: Nous avons une ville forte: il a mis le salut pour murailles et pour remparts.
In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city; God has made salvation its walls and ramparts.
2 Ouvrez les portes, et qu’elle entre, la nation juste qui garde la fidélité!
Open the gates, that the righteous nation that keeps faith may enter in.
3 Tu garderas dans une paix parfaite l’esprit qui s’appuie [sur toi], car il se confie en toi.
The mind that is stayed on you, you will keep him in perfect peace, for he trusts in you.
4 Confiez-vous en l’Éternel, à tout jamais; car en Jah, Jéhovah, est le rocher des siècles.
Trust in Yahweh forever; for in Yah, Yahweh, is an everlasting rock.
5 Car il abat ceux qui habitent en haut; il abaisse la ville haut élevée, il l’abaisse jusqu’en terre, il la fait descendre jusque dans la poussière:
For he will bring down those who live proudly; the fortified city he will lay low, he will lay low to the ground; he will level it to the dust.
6 le pied la foulera, les pieds des affligés, les pas des misérables.
It will be trampled down by the feet of the poor and the treading of the needy.
7 Le chemin du juste est la droiture. Toi qui es droit, tu aplanis le sentier du juste.
The path of the righteous is level, Righteous One; the path of the righteous you make straight.
8 Oui, dans le chemin de tes jugements, ô Éternel, nous t’avons attendu; le désir de notre âme est après ton nom et après ton souvenir.
Yes, in the path of your judgments, Yahweh, we wait for you; your name and your reputation are our desire.
9 Mon âme te désire de nuit; oui, mon esprit, au-dedans de moi, te cherche diligemment; car, lorsque tes jugements sont sur la terre, les habitants du monde apprennent la justice.
I have longed for you in the night; yes, my spirit within me seeks you earnestly. For when your judgments come on the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn about righteousness.
10 Si l’on use de grâce envers le méchant, il n’apprend pas la justice; dans le pays de la droiture il fait le mal, et il ne voit pas la majesté de l’Éternel.
Let favor be shown to the wicked one, but he will not learn righteousness. In the land of uprightness he acts wickedly and does not see the majesty of Yahweh.
11 Ô Éternel, ta main est élevée, mais ils ne voient point; [mais] ils verront [ta] jalousie pour le peuple et seront honteux. Oui, le feu [qui attend] tes adversaires les dévorera.
Yahweh, your hand is lifted up, but they do not notice. But they will see your zeal for the people and be put to shame, because fire of your adversaries will devour them.
12 Éternel, tu établiras la paix pour nous; car aussi toutes nos œuvres, tu les as opérées pour nous.
Yahweh, you will bring about peace for us; for indeed, you have also accomplished all our works for us.
13 Éternel, notre Dieu, d’autres seigneurs que toi ont dominé sur nous: par toi seul nous ferons mention de ton nom.
Yahweh our God, other masters besides you have ruled over us; but we praise your name alone.
14 Les morts ne vivront pas, les trépassés ne se relèveront pas; car tu les as visités, et tu les as exterminés, et tu as détruit toute mémoire d’eux.
They are dead, they will not live; they are deceased, they will not arise. Indeed, you came in judgment and destroyed them, and made every memory of them to perish.
15 Tu as augmenté la nation, ô Éternel; tu as augmenté la nation; tu as été glorifié: tu l’avais éloignée jusqu’à tous les bouts de la terre.
You have increased the nation, Yahweh, you have increased the nation; you are honored; you have extended all the borders of the land.
16 Éternel, dans la détresse ils t’ont cherché; ils ont épanché [leur] prière à voix basse, lorsque tu les as châtiés.
Yahweh, in trouble have they looked to you; they whispered prayers when your discipline was on them.
17 Comme une femme enceinte, près d’enfanter, est dans les douleurs [et] crie dans ses peines, ainsi nous avons été devant toi, ô Éternel:
As a pregnant woman nears the time for her to give birth, when she is in pain and cries out in her labor pains, so we have been before you, Lord.
18 nous avons conçu, nous avons été dans les douleurs, nous avons comme enfanté du vent; nous n’avons pas opéré le salut du pays, et les habitants du monde ne sont pas tombés…
We have been pregnant, we have been in labor, but it is as if we have only given birth to wind. We have not brought salvation to the earth, and the inhabitants of the world have not fallen.
19 Tes morts vivront, mes corps morts se relèveront. Réveillez-vous et exultez avec chant de triomphe, vous qui habitez dans la poussière; car ta rosée est la rosée de l’aurore, et la terre jettera dehors les trépassés.
Your dead will live; their dead bodies will arise. Awake and sing for joy, you who live in the dust; for your dew is the dew of light, and the earth will bring forth its dead.
20 Viens, mon peuple, entre dans tes chambres et ferme tes portes sur toi; cache-toi pour un petit moment, jusqu’à ce que l’indignation soit passée.
Go, my people, enter into your rooms and shut your doors behind you; hide for a little while, until the indignation has passed by.
21 Car voici, l’Éternel sort de son lieu pour visiter l’iniquité des habitants de la terre sur eux, et la terre révélera son sang, et ne cachera plus ses tués.
For, look, Yahweh is about to come out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; the earth will uncover her bloodshed, and will no longer conceal her slain.
