Romains 5
1 Etant donc justifiés par la foi, nous avons la paix avec Dieu par Notre-Seigneur Jésus-Christ,
Having, therefore, been declared righteous by faith, let us have, peace, towards God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, —
2 à qui nous devons d'avoir eu accès par la foi à cette grâce dans laquelle nous demeurons fermes, et de nous glorifier dans l'espérance de la gloire de Dieu.
Through whom also we have had, our introduction, [by our faith] into this favour wherein we stand; and let us boast in hope of the glory of God.
3 Bien plus, nous nous glorifions même dans les tribulations, sachant que la tribulation produit la constance,
And, not only so, but let us boast also in our tribulations; knowing that, our tribulation, worketh out endurance.
4 la constance une vertu éprouvée, et la vertu éprouvée l'espérance.
And, our endurance, a testing, and, our testing, hope,
5 Or, l'espérance ne trompe point, parce que l'amour de Dieu est répandu dans nos cœurs par l'Esprit-Saint qui nous a été donné.
And, our hope, putteth not to shame. Because, the love of God, hath been poured out in our hearts, through the Holy Spirit that hath been given unto us:
6 Car, lorsque nous étions encore impuissants, le Christ, au temps marqué, est mort pour des impies.
Seeing that, Christ, we being weak as yet, seasonably, in behalf of such as were ungodly, died.
7 C'est à peine si l'on meurt pour un juste, et peut-être quelqu'un saurait-il mourir pour un homme de bien.
For, scarcely in behalf of a righteous man, will one die, —in behalf of the good man indeed, peradventure one even dareth to die;
8 Mais Dieu montre son amour envers nous en ce que, lorsque nous étions encore des pécheurs, [au temps marqué],
But God commendeth his own love unto us in that—we as yet being sinners, Christ in our behalf died.
9 Jésus-Christ est mort pour nous. A plus forte raison donc, maintenant que nous sommes justifiés dans son sang, serons-nous sauvés par lui de la colère.
Much more, then, having now been declared righteous by his blood, shall we be saved through him from the anger.
10 Car si, lorsque nous étions ennemis, nous avons été réconciliés avec Dieu par la mort de son Fils, à plus forte raison, étant réconciliés, serons-nous sauvés par sa vie.
For, if being enemies we were reconciled unto God through the death of his Son, much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.
11 Bien plus, nous nous glorifions même en Dieu par Notre-Seigneur Jésus-Christ, par qui maintenant nous avons obtenu la réconciliation.
And, not only, so, but are even boasting in God, through our Lord Jesus [Christ], —through whom, now, the reconciliation we have received.
12 Ainsi donc, comme par un seul homme le péché est entré dans le monde, et par le péché la mort... Et ainsi la mort a passé dans tous les hommes parce que tous ont péché.
For this cause, —just as, through one man, sin into the world entered, and through sin, death, —and, so, unto all men death passed through, for that all had sinned; —
13 Car jusqu'à la Loi le péché était dans le monde; or le péché n'est pas imputé lorsqu'il n'y a point de loi.
For, until law, sin was in the world, although sin is not reckoned when there is no law, —
14 Cependant la mort a régné depuis Adam jusqu'à Moïse, même sur ceux qui n'avaient pas péché, par une transgression semblable à celle d'Adam, lequel est la figure de celui qui devait venir.
Yet still, death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over them who had not sinned after the likeness of the transgression of Adam, —who is a type of the Coming One; —
15 Mais il n'en est pas du don gratuit comme de la faute; car si, par la faute d'un seul, tous les hommes sont morts, à plus forte raison la grâce de Dieu et le don se sont, par la grâce d'un seul homme, Jésus-Christ, abondamment répandus sur tous les hommes.
But, not as the fault, so, [also] the decree of favour, for, if, by the fault of the one, the many died, much more, the favour of God and the free-gift in favour, by the one man Jesus Christ, unto the many superabounded;
16 Et il n'en est pas du don comme des suites du péché d'un seul; car le jugement a été porté à cause d'une seule faute pour la condamnation, tandis que le don amène la justification de beaucoup de fautes.
And, not as through one that sinned, is that which is freely given, for, the sentence of judgment, indeed, was—out of one [fault] into condemnation, whereas, the decree of favour, is—out of many faults, into a recovery of righteousness.
17 En effet, si, par la faute d'un seul, la mort a régné par ce seul homme, à plus forte raison ceux qui reçoivent l'abondance de la grâce et du don de la justice règneront-ils dans la vie par le seul Jésus-Christ.
For, if, by the fault of the one, death reigned through the one, much more, they who the superabundance of the favour and of [the free-gift of] the righteousness do receive, in life, shall reign through the one, Jesus Christ.
18 Ainsi donc, comme par la faute d'un seul la condamnation est venue sur tous les hommes, ainsi par la justice d'un seul vient à tous les hommes la justification qui donne la vie.
Hence then, as through one fault, [the sentence was] unto all men unto condemnation, so, also, through one recovery of righteousness, [the decree of favour] is unto all men for righteous acquittal unto life;
19 De même en effet, que par la désobéissance d'un seul homme, tous ont été constitués pécheurs, de même par l'obéissance d'un seul tous seront constitués justes.
For, just as, through the disobedience of the one man, sinners, the many were constituted, so, also, through the obedience of the one, righteous, the many shall be constituted—
20 La loi est intervenue pour faire abonder la faute; mais là où le péché a abondé, la grâce a surabondé,
Law, however, gained admission, in order that the fault might abound, but, where the sin abounded, the favour greatly superabounded:
21 afin que, comme le péché a régné par la mort, ainsi la grâce régnât par la justice pour la vie éternelle, par Jésus-Christ Notre-Seigneur. (aiōnios g166)
In order that—just as sin reigned in death, so, also, favour, might reign through righteousness unto life age-abiding, through Jesus Christ our Lord. (aiōnios g166)
